  • Hey Everyone!
Now this, this is some content. Last Saturday, my dad and I would take a chance and head out to the S-line after getting word of CSX train M442, leaving Tampa over eight hours later than its usual departure time. Here's the video of such!

A great day indeed! Thank you for your great work on a wet day. I've lived in DeLand all my life not to far from the A-Line. I've been watching the new SunRail DeLand Station build with great interest, but miss the freight traffic that once moved on the line. Count me as a new friend too!

I just found your channel, dude, and you've got a new subscriber. Excellent video .. from your knowledge of the train designations, the routes they run, to the narration and camera work. I think it's great that the younger generations, as yourself, are keeping railfanning alive and well. Y'all must have been elated to be asked by the conductor for a ride back to the bad axle .. I sure would have. I've been a railfan since I was a child growing up in Cumberland, Md, a railroad town, when the B&O, C&O, and WM were in their heyday, which all combined to create the Chessie System. And then, in turn, absorbed other railroads to become CSX. The only railroad close to me now is a shortline here in NC, the ACWR, and they run mostly at night due to safety concerns, so I rely on people like you to bring the railroad to me .. I'll surely be checking out your library .. thanks, man, keep 'em coming.

You know I had almost the same thing happen to me with the same HU. Most people thought it would go by at 1 in the morning pulling empty ethanol loads. This was also the first CSX heritage unit on this Specific line. Which is the UP Geneva sub. I look at the Rochelle Cam chat and someone said it passed Geneva at 6:55. I got dressed and was by the tracks at 7:06. It passed me at 7:26. By the way it originated on B642

A really cool video there Christian. The assist for the conductor was a nice touch. Although the empty ethanol train is CSX symboled to Bensenville, IL (CPKC), the CPKC will be taking the train onward to an ethanol plant in Minnesota or the Dakotas. There is such a plant on the CPKC Portal Sub at Voltaire, ND and I’ve seen CSX locomotives up there. So that’s my educated guess where those Hooker’s Point ethanol trains originate.
BTW a funny story about crews dying on the law: We took a steam excursion, commemorating the Colorado centennial in 1976. It was a round trip from Denver to Laramie, WY, on the UP behind the 844. On the return we stopped in Greeley, CO for water and then sat for a while. One of the volunteers came through the car and was asked why we weren’t moving. The volunteer answered “the crew died”. The poor woman broke out in tears hearing the sad news of someone dying as she didn’t know the term. He quickly explained the term while my father and I could barely control our laughter.
Thanks for taking us your journey!

excellent video and very good to see that the defect detectors are doing their job and most importantly that the CSX crew stopped the train immediately to check it out. It was interesting to see how they dealt with the problem which really only cost them a couple of hours, but importantly no train wreck as a result of not ignoring the problem

They still owe us a Western Maryland. There is the Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis, which was quite a large railroad merged into the Louisville & Nashville. I don't think that they have done the Seaboard Air Line yet. I have a T-shirt with all their predecessor railroads pre-Conrail breakup. There is the Central of New Jersey, for which there is a Norfolk Southern heritage unit, but I don't know what it has to do with Norfolk Southern because it was a Baltimore & Ohio property that carried their passenger trains to New York. Maybe they will go as far as the Pere Marquette and Chicago, South Shore & South Bend, which were merged into Chessie System and are on my T-shirt.
