I picked up the Satechi hub with the SSD enclosure for my M2 Pro Mac mini. Needless to say, it’s probably one of the best accessories you can pick up for your Mac mini to feel a real upgrade. You’re getting extra storage, more ports, accessible ports, a stand to make your Mac mini look more beefy, and GRIP! In this video, we do a deep dive into the Satechi hub to see the quality, gains, and drawbacks.

By the way, the hub is $99
yeah in the USA elsewhere its like 150 i live in Mexico and it sucks how expensive it is...
Now the newer ones do support NVMW
Great Video Matt, had this hub for a while was unable to do anything with this SSD until I saw your video. Thank you!
Glad I could help!
Underrated RUclipsr
Thank you for the support 🙏 much appreciated!
Great explaination - I was thinking about getting this hub and you helped me understand how to make sue of the SSD and the differences in types.
Glad it was helpful! Satechi released the NVMe version of the hub for the same price. Better choice to go with that version.
thanks for the info!
Glad it was helpful!
@@mattchungz keep up the good work. you are better than a lot of youtubers with huge followings.
Thanks for the compliment!
Great review. Just bought it. Considering getting a SSD hard drive.
Thanks! Hope it serves you well
thx !
Great video… Saludos desde Mexico.
Thank you!
they make a NVMe model now on amazon
would be nice to get a dual enclosure like that with TB4 and full 40GB access to the m.2 NVME's. all of them seem to be limited to 5 or 10.I wouldn't edit off of it.
100%! This really is only good for mass storage
Great Video, I think if you accidentally eject the drive, you can remount it in disk utility instead of unplugging and plugging it back in.
Thanks for sharing!
nice review.. have you seen the new satechi with NVMe support? thought?
Thanks! Saw the new version and I think the fact that it's the same price as the original version, it's a no brainer. You're getting NVMe support, which is already the upgrade people wanted, but you're also getting upgraded USB C and USB A version 3.1 so the transfer speeds on the USB ports are doubled from 5gbps to 10gbps.
I lately checked. The new model does take an NVME SSD.
Hi how much is the ram and memory ?
I want to ask, when I connect it, does the memory become primary and everything is recorded on it?
Unfortunately no. It gets recognized as a separate drive like an external, which can be ejected. So you would have to move files into it or choose to save files into the drive.
WiFi speed impaired with the satechi connected to the mini?
Nope it’s been fine for me
I had that exact same hub and it ended up frying my SSD. It seems like It cant handle having to many items connected to it at once. Just a fair warning
Thanks that heads up, I’ll keep an eye out on mine and update if anything changes
I tried this hub but my Mac Mini m1 lost Wi-Fi connectivity.
I sent it back.
I’ve heard of people having wifi issues but I never experienced it myself. I’ve noticed Satechi has lemons. Even my unit had an issue with constantly disconnecting from my Mac resulting in the "Didn’t eject properly” notification. I sent it back and Satechi sent me a new one. No issues with this one
ssd sata not fast enough rather use another ssd in my ugreen inclosure with a ssd nvme
Definitely a better option
Any Wi-Fi connectivity issues?
I plug directly into Ethernet but the times where I used Wifi, I’ve had no issues
@@mattchungzcool…I bought the qwiizlab hub a few weeks ago and it emits a high-pitched sound that is just an absolute showstopper for me so I have to replace it. I’m looking at yours as an option. 👍🏻
Ah that’s annoying. Yeah the Satechi has been great. Except the first unit I got kept disconnecting the SSD and so when I left it to sleep and came back, I’d have a ton of "drive wasn’t ejected properly" notifications. I contacted Satechi and they sent me a new unit and have had no issues. They released a new version that supports an NVMe SSD so pick that one up!
Nice video💪🏾💪🏾🫡
Thanks!
Great Videos ! Luckily the Hub NOW support NVMe :) Great option to expand the mac not paying Apple internal upgrade ! Abo
Thanks! I know, I’ll definitely upgrade
