0:43 Johnny went to a church earlier in the movie and was asking the priest questions inside the confession booth, where he was comforted and told about the soul. He was kicked out when the priest realized Johnny was a robot and assumed someone was playing pranks. It's interesting that Johnny internalized that experience and started believing in the soul and believing that he has one.
It's great how they made absolutely no effort to conceal the fact it was filmed in Toronto (despite that it's supposed to be New York): licence plates, street signs, buildings, and the inconsistency in mentioning "Lakeshore". Ah, classic.
aaahh thank you for this nostalgic GEM!!! I used to LOVE the part where he rebuilds himself in the punk gear, the "Destroy the machine" line, Johnny-5 was a total badass for that part
I think the best part of Short Circuit 2 was Fred. He, like everyone else saw J5 as just another stupid robot, but by this point in the movie you clearly see he is starting to really see J5 as a person.
That is badass- he wears computer circuitboards and other electric innards on him. That's like a dude covering himself with someone else's intestines and organs >:D.
I saw this movie when I was like 5. I can't believe I still remember its existence! I somehow remember the battery fluid part....80s movies were so whacky
@b0redavid Uh...Wall-E was thought up in a lunch meeting that got up Bugs Life, Monsters Inc, and Toy Story. I think the design for Wall-E's current form is based on Johnny 5.
The cheesy 80s soundtrack to this film is just amazing. :D Also HOLY SHIT at that car crash! No way would they all survive that, not with all their limbs intact. :P
Connected, reconnected main battery to memory. However, as Ben pointed out by finding battery fluid, "Oh no, he's leaking fluid." He's BLEEDING to death. The bandage didn't do enough, besides he was using EXTREME amounts of power in the chase, the lift, the fight, and finally the capture.
Also it was long past the era of 'talking cars' and they used the voice clips from a 1980s Nissan Maxima. The 'talking' Chryslers used a TI chip and sounded like a speak n spell.
when i saw yonge street behind bens head when hes selling the toy robots,,,that was a giveaway!!! and the ttc signs! i wish i had seen this i live an hour from toronto!
not just a polaroid. He replaced the laser with that red tackle box. It also has a grappling hook, a hang glider, and other stuff he used in the movie.
@SlappyBabby I don't know if this reference is before your time--but do you remember a TV show called "Laverne and Shirley"? The guy playing Fred was in that as well--so he IS a serious pro! He's been acting for years!
Hey I just thought of this: First came "Jonny 5" and then Wall-E was kind of a ripoff. E is the 5th letter in the alphabet. So Jonny-5 and wall-E is both 5 at the end and are both identicall looking robots.
@rsa1027 It's actually, "ew-scray ou-yay, ozo-bay" ("Screw you, bozo" in Pig Latin). Remember Oscar spoke Pig Latin when he told the other crooks to "Et-gay ehind-bay im-hay" (Get behind him [J5])? That's where Jonny 5 picked it up.
He locked you up? He did not smash? Crush? Dent? Mangle you? Sure kidnap the humans, destroy the "Machine"!
fave line right there XD
😂
Demon run when a good living being goes to war
The script is brilliant! And watching this years later as an adult is so great to get the references and humour.
Same! 🤭😂😁🤣
"Don't worry, my cousin was a Harley Davidson" xDD Johnny went hardcore punk and it's awesome
I'm still in love with J5 after all these years :))
I agree me too Johnny 5 is awesome
Johnny 5 still alive
" Sure kidnap the humans DESTROY THE MACHINE!" That my favorite line in this movie lol
😡0:14👿
"Sure. Kidnap the humans! DESTROY the machine!"
This concludes it..
Johnny 5 was the terminator's grandfather
LOL Fred had me crackin up this entire movie!! Quiet?? U know what just floated past me?!! 🤣🤣
Anyone who says a sequal can't be as good as the original has never seen short circuit 2
Or toy story 2 might I add

He thinks, therefore he is.
"Do you know what I'm standing in?" 😂😂😂😂
“Do by you know what just floated past me!?”
Dr. Ruth says “violence. Is an expression. Of sexual. Frustration!”
No way Johnny 5 could fit through a manhole, but I still love the movie!
Hey, laser lips! Your momma was a snow-blower.
0:14 - 0:39 One of the best 'lock and load'/'suit up' scenes ever. So 80s!
0:14 Sure, kidnap the humans, DESTROY THE MACHINE! OOOHHH!!! 0:34
It's great how they made absolutely no effort to conceal the fact it was filmed in Toronto (despite that it's supposed to be New York): licence plates, street signs, buildings, and the inconsistency in mentioning "Lakeshore". Ah, classic.
I know. Even the Chrysler LeBaron is actually a Canadian dodge lancer
2 LOL quotes: "Don't worry. My cousin was a Harley Davidson". and "What're you doing now? Pumping iron."
if this doesn't get you amped up your are not a life form.
Wall-E on steroids = Johnny Five
In my opinion, Johny 5 is one of the best robots what humanity could see.
Great film!
dam i remember this movie it was sooo good y dont they make movies this good now a days :)
aaahh thank you for this nostalgic GEM!!! I used to LOVE the part where he rebuilds himself in the punk gear, the "Destroy the machine" line, Johnny-5 was a total badass for that part
the memories from watching this scene alone. Thanks for posting, bro.
Dude I watched clip after clip of this movie, then another, then another. I fucking love short circuit.
I think the best part of Short Circuit 2 was Fred. He, like everyone else saw J5 as just another stupid robot, but by this point in the movie you clearly see he is starting to really see J5 as a person.
the music score was great !
such a great movie wish they would of made another one :(
I agree
Watching this in 2021 like "how is Chuck McGill riding on a robot like that without having an episode?"
One of the best films ever
Chuck McGill sure had an interested life before becoming a lawyer
Johnny Five: Don't worry. My cousin was a Harley-Davidson.
It is hilarious watching Chuck McGill ride a robot through New York City 😂😂😂
That is badass- he wears computer circuitboards and other electric innards on him.
That's like a dude covering himself with someone else's intestines and organs >:D.
Ahahha
So this is why Chuck became afraid of technology in Better Call Saul 😂😂😂
>rudimentary sentience
>an amalgamation of archetypes
A lifeforms gotta do what a lifeforms gotta do!! 😂😂
5:20 "ew-scray ou-yay, ozo-bay"
i couldn't love this more....
This CGI is amazing. A lot better than the stuff they use today.
No CGI. All practical effects, puppetry and creative and clever camera angles.
It’s good because it’s not sh1tty CGI.
Out in, out in!! Perfectly functionality, FUNCTIONALITY!!
bro could lift a whole car
Johnny Five: Prepare for launch! All systems are go! We have lift off!
I miss this movie! I wish there was a sequel.
Lol, there srta is one.
"How much you want for it?" Lol haha!!!
I saw this movie when I was like 5. I can't believe I still remember its existence! I somehow remember the battery fluid part....80s movies were so whacky

"Allll Right... lets party.. "
The cheesy 80s soundtrack to this film is just amazing. :D
Also HOLY SHIT at that car crash! No way would they all survive that, not with all their limbs intact. :P
My childhood :D I love this movie and will always love it!
2:15
oh please tell me someone has modded a segway scooter to look like this...
2:15
🤪🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
3:24 J5: shh quiet!
Fred: Quiet? Do you know what just floated passed me?
Lol
Johnny Five: All right! Let's party!
This is my suit up scene
johny 5 is AWSOME love te movies

Still, never stopped Johnny from catching Oscar. 😎
2:36
Johnny 5 got the brand and model of the car misidentified. It's actually a 1987 Dodge Lancer Turbo.
Also it was long past the era of 'talking cars' and they used the voice clips from a 1980s Nissan Maxima. The 'talking' Chryslers used a TI chip and sounded like a speak n spell.
No he didn't. LeBaron GTS
He's still my idol and I'm 26. Lol.
Johnny 5 is a badass!
I GOT to watch this movie!
Johny 5 is the ultimate Autobot.
Will love this movie i saw many yrs ago.2 of them whole movie this is only a teaser🤗🤗
He used his multi frequency remote control.
Fisher Stevens did one hell of a job impersonating an Indian.
It was after this fred turned his life around, moving to alberquerqe and joining hamlin hamlin and mcgill
when i saw yonge street behind bens head when hes selling the toy robots,,,that was a giveaway!!! and the ttc signs! i wish i had seen this i live an hour from toronto!
Johnny 5 isn't just alive
His emotions are basically just shifting gears in a car
And if you thought Hulk had anger problems....
HELLO BABY! THE BEST PART EVER! :D
Badass Johnny 5 or as I like to call him “Badass 5” is the best version of Johnny 5 in these movies
this was the best change from a peaceful character to someone who wants revenge. way better than Sasuke.....
3:54 All systems are go .. we have liftoff
haha the license plate says "bad" ^^
btw when his friend stands on him johnny is like a talking segway^^
When I was 8 Johnny 5 was my idol. XD

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERE'S JOHNY lol nice line XD
Mr maniac you are not doing your fluids 😂😂😂, I still use this line up today
He is #CHUCK from Better Call Saul
@SlappyBabby I don't know if this reference is before your time--but do you remember a TV show called "Laverne and Shirley"? The guy playing Fred was in that as well--so he IS a serious pro! He's been acting for years!
awesome movie lol the bad guy's car license plate BAD-657 and i like the gangsta talk that J5 says lol
Hey I just thought of this: First came "Jonny 5" and then Wall-E was kind of a ripoff. E is the 5th letter in the alphabet. So Jonny-5 and wall-E is both 5 at the end and are both identicall looking robots.
I can add a layer to that for you. Wall-E is a recycling robot. So much so that he recycled Jonny-5’s design.
loom at oscars hand at 2.46 it glows and at at 1.20 johnny 5 battery glows
and thus, the Segway was born.
rofl i fucking loved this film when i was 6 and VHS was a blue ray dvd lol ALL SYSTEMS GO, PREPARE FOR LAUNCH! hahaha
You don't hear Pig Latin anymore.
"Don't worry, my cousin was a Harley-Davidson"
How the segway was invented
@rsa1027 It's actually, "ew-scray ou-yay, ozo-bay" ("Screw you, bozo" in Pig Latin). Remember Oscar spoke Pig Latin when he told the other crooks to "Et-gay ehind-bay im-hay" (Get behind him [J5])? That's where Jonny 5 picked it up.
Omg the last time I saw this movie was about 10 years ago
Big bottom, big bottom, talk about bun cakes Johnny 5's gottem.
I've on;y seen bits & pieces of this movie but not the entire thing which is something I'd like to do
Hey life form, cool it! lol

At 1:52 I thought I was gonna see Steve Guttenberg come straight out of Police Academy.
they mean, in order, chase, catch, incarcerate the way he meant it is essentialy "put in prison".
