So nice to see you pop up in the comments again. I appreciate you hanging in there with me all these years. Competing priories have made it difficult to produce videos but I am going to try to do better in 2024!
I't's been a while Feddie! We have 3 Avids. The thing I like about them is extensibility. I've been able to switch to servo motors, automatic tool change, upgrade to UCCNC with more IO than I can make use of. Yes, it's a journey and a shorter one if I just bought a machine with all those features but then I'm locked in to a very specific feature set. This is where I think Avid shines. I carve signs in 1/4 of the time with the correct upgrades and settings. I've never had the need for a full vacuum table. Rather, I've design fixtures with targeted vacuum clamping and it works well for us. Glad to see you are still around. I miss the weekly videos :)
Anyone who had ever owned CNc gets this video. I started with a MPCNC about $800 made some cool things and got a Gatton CNC a step up. I would like an AVID at some point but each step takes money and a need for something to produce. I always find it funny people that done understand a machine that works and handles your use case is great but over time hopefully your needs change and you need new machines. Great video and I too miss your RUclips videos.
Happy New Year Feddie! I truly miss your videos. I hope you know that many of us who subscribe to your channel often wonder how you are and why you don’t post as many videos as you used to. For me, you helped me start woodworking and I appreciate your help and always will. Whatever you do, I wish you all the best. Happy New Year from the San Francisco Bay Area!
Wingman! So nice to hear from you. I really appreciate your kind words and encouragement through the years. It has been a very fast pace for me the last few years. I will be spending a lot of time this year developing my TrackTubes product and will be introducing new things around that on the channel pretty soon so I think you will be seeing more of me soon.
Fred, it's good to see you doing well. This big upgrade tells me that things are going well at the new shop. Take care amigo and hope to see some videos of your craftsmanship in action.
Hi Fred. Nice to see you're still around and doing well. I'm very happy for all your successes. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Safe New Years. Blessings my Friend.
I've got an AVID that I've used for years that is a great machine, and I just hooked up their new laser cutter to it also which is awesome. Auto too change, more vac table power and a more rigid platform would all be pretty huge upgrades though.
I am considering an industrial machine. I have two avid machines and I am very happy with them. I really just want an ATC for now. That would really improve my workflow.
Hi, Feddie. Really good to see you looking so well my friend. Congratulations on the upgrade of your CNC. It looks like a beast. 🤣😂 There isn't much you won't be able to do on that one. Wishing you and your family. A very Happy Christmas and a Wonderful New Year for 2024.as always Love and Respect from North London U.K. 👍🏻
Hey Dude! Good to see you, I hope you find time to post some more videos on the new machine and whatever else you have been up to. I miss seeing your mug every week :)
You could have bought a separate atc spindle for the avid cnc like a turnkey s30, or even better a 'rapidchange atc' to keep the same spindle, buy a lets say hurricane blackbox vacuum machine saved yourself a lot of money and work for getting the same specs?
Yes, but, end of the day it's a lot of DIY work, a few compromises cobbling all that together, and ultimately the machine still isn't going to be as rigid as a steel welded frame and gantry system that is then machined on a big gantry to make everything true. For someone making regular money running the tool, selling the AVID and moving up to a bigger machine that is built to be an industrial unit, is going to just be better at making money pretty quickly. For someone like me, I'm torn between getting an industrial unit now, knowing in a year or so it'll be likely making money; or, getting an AVID and run it until we are loosing money then just quickly trade up for an industrial unit.
Sorry Joe. Competing priorities and the reality of overhead. Peter Pan had to grow up BUT I'm gonna try to do better in '24. Nice to hear from you again Joe.
Glad to see you’re still alive and kicking Fred. Please revive the RUclips channel. I sure miss the regular uploads

Todd!!! So nice to hear from. Thanks for checking in.
Great video Freddy. You have to keep up with your business demands and growth...excellent move.
Thanks Patrick. Merry Christmas to y'all.
I’m putting ATC on my AVID. Vacuum would be nice. I have a Multicam available to me 24/7 if I need it.
More videos from such a quality carpenter.
More to come!
The avid can be upgraded to ATC
For the price you can’t beat that till you grow into an industrial machine.

Great video as always. I hope you can make a few videos putting it thought its paces.
Thank you Rocket. I am doing a series of videos for Camaster and will crosspost on my channel so stay tuned for those.
Come on man one video a year.? Wondered what happened to you
