My family and I lived in the Detroit area in 1980 and my husband lost his job. Helen describes those times perfectly. Here we are again. Very sad.

Hari has never looked as pensive and intensely concerned as he did in this interview 😊 My son's dreams are all American. He is planning for his research in a US university...and I am all supportive of it. But interviews like this one and the mindless gun (no)laws do keep me worried. But a lot of my friends live there and they live well (or so Iam given to believe). Do they all keep their heads low or keep their media presence low? Am not sure what it is...I hope this interview will get President Biden's attention and some action toward protecting Asians in America. Great interview. 👍🙏

In discussion of racism against Asians, Helen Zia threw in the word “transphobia”. Women seeking to keep our separate facilities and sports is not due to prejudice but for privacy, safety, and fairness.

Not true. What has a transgendered person ever done to harm you??

@@MarciaMatthews You avoided the question. Zia said there's a rise in hate violence towards every group including forms of antisemitism and transphobia. Seeking separate bathroom facilities has nothing to do with violence towards transgender people.

💔🙏 I'm from Cleveland, Ohio and I didn't know about this crime... so very heartbreaking. That's true during that time, Midwestern auto workers blamed Japan... I remember those days.

Of course it is backsliding. Everything in our sorry country is going backwards. Thanks for your consistently great coverage.

I was young man when this happened. I'm a mixed race Chinese/German/Jewish American that primarily look Chinese. My great grandfather was sold here to build the railroad and my grandfather spilled blood on the shores of Normandy. However I am still not American enough. I have many mixed race relatives that primarily look white and has never admitted to be mixed race. I don't blame them because life is easier for them. If I looked more white I would probably do the same.
Her explanation excuses the racist that murdered our own. We have a tendency to blame ourselves for being beat up or killed.

Beware. What she is describing looks to fit into what this Supreme Court would class as not having protected rights.

I know it's somehow inconvenient for a ~cis male~ who sometimes falls short of remaining in a perpetual state blind compliance no matter what to be saying this, but I swear, I'm nothing but happy for any Chinese person who's made it here to live a less unacceptable sort of life, free from all Marxism. To the extent that it's in my government's control.
