All very good points! Also, props to the previous owner for agreeing to send her to us for the sake of the animal. It is hard for many people to not only set pride aside and accept help in the first place, but also lose out on an investment and beloved pet for the well-being of that animal. Remember if you find yourself in a similar situation it’s always okay to ask for guidance, and even turn the animal over to someone if it is determined that is what is best.
You couldn’t have said it any better smh I know of someone who was stubborn and let two Amazon tree boas die on them obviously due to improper husbandry
I found abronia graminea through this channel, and they've been my dream reptile since. Proper care is a top priority for me, and I take all of this very seriously. I want to run an exotic animal rescue/shelter, and help animals like this who have met more unfortunate circumstances.
I love the honest opinions on RUclips .So many people on RUclips don't tell their viewers what it takes to properly care for the animals they own and show on their channels.
I have also talked to Nick at abronia alliance, and he said you can dust your crickets with panacure for about 7 feedings. It’s just a bit harder to find granules. Hopefully she pulls through. I just went though a similar situation but she had a necrotic fungus that had to get amputated. She’s doing very well now but I got set up for failure, hoping she makes a full recovery
And by the way the tail looks, and what I’ve heard from most other people say if it’s that severe or a regrown odds are it’s a wild caught. But you have experience with abronia so she’s better off now forsure
I've been caring for dumpies for about 2 years now and i've been considering an Abronia now that I have a bit more experience. in particular I've been trying to find a captive breeder because I don't want to contribute to the trafficking of wild caught ones. I appreciate the information on how to properly care for them and the warnings for beginners.
I have always wanted a Abronia Alligator lizard ever since I had gotten my northern Alligator lizard and they are for sure really beautiful blue or not.
really beautiful girl with a stunning color. I was so happy to see her eat the treatment food. I do share the temperature sensitivity with them. I do look at video but wouldn't get one for myself as I know that it's for way more advanced person than me who got the fine tuning of a habitat for such species.
Abronia have been on my list for years and I definitely wouldn’t mind trying to breed them, since establishing a captive population for them is very important
She's beautiful. Great that she's in better hands. Can UVB rays go through glass and screen? My vet says no and I have used my UVB meter on both glass and screen and no UVB showed up. IDK. Just thought I'd ask.
This shows a big problem in the pet trade. We have animals like abronia that most zoo can’t get access because of their increasing rarity in captivity. The tragedy that too many abronia (mainly gramina) are trafficked then never able to reproduce in captivity. With animals like this people need to understand what they are getting into with these animals because with these species keepers run a fine line between conservation and poaching. Thank you for putting more abronia content out It helps the movement
This video reminded me to buy a water mister and a small plastic terrarium for my cornsnake 😅 the terrarium for holding my baby when I'm cleaning his tank and the water mister because using a spray bottle is tedious
This is unrelated to this video but I was wondering what I should do to tame my Nelson milk snake I’ve had him for awhile and tried to hold him many times but he always slithers quickly away and if I do get a hold of him he musks is he redeemable to become tame? Edit he also didn’t come from a breeder I got him from a pet store because that day my sisters cat killed my fire snake before I got home with tank for him and I was upset so we went to get a new snake and that’s what I found.
Tyler a little off topic I noticed you have those little ear things in your ears they're not earrings I don't know what they are but please don't keep getting them bigger and bigger and bigger like Tyler's head like Tyler has it's just horrific when you get older and women look at you it's horrific I'm sorry but I just put ahead of I had to put a vote in
You really didn't have to. Would you walk up to a woman on the street and tell her to show more cleavage, or wear higher heels because that's what men like to see? Commenting on someone's appearance is crude however you do it.
Gorgeous species! Hope you can get her well🙏🏼Absolutely! Don't get any reptiles without doing your research, period. So many "easy species" die as an impulse buy because people call them a beginner reptile (side eyes ball pythons lol🥲💔)

Are you guys really a couple
@@Spicycow94 yes, lol

Absolutely beautiful animal. However, not every beautiful animal should be kept as a pet. I'm glad she's with someone who knows how to care for her

BEAUTIFUL reptiles, but also absolutley agree with you on keeping one
What a little star :) it's a great sign that she's eating well
Hoping you get her back to health quickly. Such beautiful lizards!!

I must say, your house looks amazing. It has a nature lover's vibe to it.
This vid was awesome. Very informational. Hopefully the Abronia fully recovers. 🙏🏾
Beautiful lizard for sure. I would def heed your advice because you should know! Listen up people!

Thank you for sharing this story. I want to keep a pair Abronia Gramina. Your channel has been a helpful source of information.

Uvb doesn’t go through glass at all. Screen blocks some of the uv but still let’s a lot of it through.
@@tylerrugge OK. I'll check my tortoise's UVB again. I could be misremembering. That would not be out of the ordinary for me!

Why on earth would someone not keep it under UVB?

where did you buy her ?
Which form of Panacur did you use for your abronia? Just curious.
10% Fenbendazole
I was told they were good pets as long as they are not wild caught
Did you also check them for crypto?
What do you do with the outdoor enclosures if it rains?
They LOVE the rain. Just one time less we have to mist or soak them!
I remember liking this video. Huh..
💜💚💚💜
Are you going to give her a name?
Yes I need to think of one!
