  • The video tries to clarify concept of contour modification for siting (locating) building on a sloping site. It gives introduction about contours, terminologies which you should explore further.
    The concept gets clear if you try this out on a few examples.
    PAUSE AFTER EVERY CASE DISCUSSED AND TAKE A RECAP OF THE PROCESS.
    Locating a building on sloping site depends, not only on topography, but also on how the architect used the contour conditions to derive spaces in the building. Building location and orientation also has to keep in mind the site drainage. All such issues have not been touched in the video.

    This is an excellent informative video sir. Can you please explain what did you mean by " The greater the detail of the plan, smaller interval of contours"? Is the term talking about the area of the site?

    • @randomarchitecturenotes-na809
      @randomarchitecturenotes-na809  3 года назад +1

      Suppose your site plan shows contours, which are at an elevation of 1m elevation. But for more detail or accuracy, you may add the intermediate contours between these two. This means, you may have contours, now, at an interval of 50 cm. This will give you more realistic situation.
      Hope this was useful.

    • @randomarchitecturenotes-na809
      @randomarchitecturenotes-na809  3 года назад +1

      Once you have come to the dressed earth surface, which is fit for your building, then it is like any flat land with reference to your building/ building block. Now decide the height of plinth and set the level for that. This has been put simplistically. It will vary from case to case.

    • @randomarchitecturenotes-na809
      @randomarchitecturenotes-na809  3 года назад

      @@ruchithakkar9578 Every built unit will have a plinth when it rests on ground. This may be a common plinth when a complete building sits at the same level on a flat ground. On contoured site, if a building block, or its parts rest on ground at different levels, each such part will have its own plinth.
