Does having a PPL (private pilots license) help me become more competitive to get a pilot slot? or just flight hours? What is the max amount of flight hours I can get to improve my PCSM score?
Hey I’m in the Air Force and I did a program where you work helping recruiters and yeah having you pilot license already helps a lot, but you also need to have almost perfect health and a bachelors degree to even apply for a pilot position.

In Top Gun: Maverick was it really justified to need those old F-18s for that strike mission? Couldn't the F-22 or F-35 have done that low level mountain valley flying just as well or better? I know the F-22 is not a Navy jet, but was it more that the film makers needed some arbitrary reason to use the two-seater F18s so the actors could sit in the back seat for the realism of the film? One more question, we know the DoD collaborates with Hollywood for these movies (see recent article in The Guardian), but why do Hollywood actors need to sit in the planes at all, why don't you just train some of your fighter pilots to be good actors and then they can fly the nice new single seater stealth planes? Then we can see some F-22s, F-35s in action. Or is that going to give away too many secrets about performance etc.
