Dan Quayle was never the dummy they portrayed but his occasional faux pas did become legendary. Sort of the way Gerald R. Ford's slip on the steps from Air Force One became fodder for SNL in the 70's despite his being a graceful former athlete. But the sketch was pretty funny.

I mean, for all the praise that Alec Baldwin got for his Trump impression or that Phil Hartman got for his Reagan or Clinton, those guys are pretty easy to impersonate because they're so distinct. One of my favorite lines from that skit was when Teddy Kennedy asks Thomas "were you eh....drunk at the time?" This was said because Kennedy had recently been with his nephew at that bar in Florida where she claimed the nephew raped her. Kennedy used being drunk as an excuse.

I agree. HE should have been president instead of Bush the second. What a shame it was that Powell thought the democrats would make his wife's depression an issue in the campaign and cared about her too much to put her through that. I think had he been president, we never would have invaded Iraq and Bin Laden would have been caught a LOT sooner!

@@nonnenja2281 While there IS truth to that, he was merely supporting his boss, Dubya Bush. Even Powell admitted it was a blot on his record. However, I STILL say that had Powell been elected in 2000 instead of Bush, things would have gone very differently in Iraq because he was against the invasion from day one.
