Is there a way to add elastic to an existing purse pocket? I have a great soft denium purse, but the water bottle pockets are made of the same fabric and not stretchy enough to get my bottle in, but I love the purse.
Without seeing the bag, it is difficult for me to give you an answer. If the pockets are too small for your water bottle, I would assume there is no point in adding the elastic. Maybe consider replacing the pockets?
It's not dumb at all. Measure the width of the panel where you want to add the pocket. Cut the elastic about 1cm (3/8") longer if you want your pocket to lay close to the panel. Cut the elastic even longer if you want the top of the pocket to stand away from the panel. I usually cut the elastic longer, then adjust the length depending on the fabric and size of the pocket.
"Stay crafty, friends" at the end made me so happy. Thank you for this tutorial
