This video is proof that "sick content" does not equal views. I've watched a lot of these kinds of "shot setup" videos over years. This one is very good. Thanks for the great tips.
Agree! I knew about the rule of thirds but not that you can position your subject at the intersection points in the grid. Learned a bunch of other stuff too.
OMG, you are wonderful. The best "talking head" video by far. I found you today 9-20-2023 and I am eternally grateful. You answered all my questions and did it with professionalism and grace. Thank you!
Seriously one of the best videos I've watched on this topic! Also, thank you for addressing darker skin tones...so many creators just totally ignore it as if we're all ONE shade.
I don't get it why this is not that much watched by people. Like these are the things that one needs to learn or understand to get things started. Humans are really hard to understand
Thanks. Very easy to follow. I am about to start creating my own tutorials but so glad I have guys like you offering free advice. Any recommendations re backdrop sheets/cards?
Awesome thanks. I’m going to turn my new channel into a talking head/interview channel once I get monetized. I know virtually nothing about videography or photography lol. Thansk for this! Very helpful.
Thank you very much for these helpful tips, Dennis! I need to do a video application for my job over the Holidays and have been looking into quite a few clips. I must say that yours is very enjoyable and included many details that no one had mentioned before, e.g. up to which level to show the body. So thanks for uploading :)
Man, I really hope more content comes out soon about set-up production. I bet he has great tips about filming tutorials or recipes. What are the secrets to getting the best shot of a step by step process!?!? I gotta know.
I love that you talked about skin tone in a very casual but professional way. Makes a lot of sense to me, since my skin is darker than white people but not as dark as black people. Now I understand why some clothes fit me better than others for example
for talking heads that your film of yourself, that is very far and usually location doesnt allow for it. But if possible, sure, it can be an interesting option. I would not say that I prefer it over a 50mm or even 35mm.
Hey Asabre, thanks for your comment! Its funny because I just updated the links today, so here you can book a 1 hour consulting call. I would be happy to help you set up your space! bit.ly/videoconsultingcall
In my opinion it is the "noise" that always be there at dark background... to minimize it consider add light ( warm light the best way to light black background)

I have a question, if the taling head talking straight to the camera should i follow rule of third and place it in the connector?
Found in April 2024. Good stuff.

Thank you so much for your video.
Thanks Dennis 👍
Thanks for watching! :)
Thank you for this video. Can you please link the background, mounts and accessories you have on this video?
Great video Dennis, very well said
Thanks Brian!
Would love more content on the process for making talking head videos
New videos are in the works! Lord willing there will be much more content in the coming weeks. Thanks for the encouraging content!
@@creatorvideo-school awesome to hear. Do you mind me asking how long the process takes to make a video?
What is your microphone/sound setup on this? You sound good.
Excellent tips...
Thank you!
Excellent video, exactly what I was looking for.
My man navigated a potentially racially charged discussion beautifully 😂. Jokes aside, this video is extremely helpful. Thank you for sharing this!
Hey, how do I do a dark background like this one in the video?
7:38 Sounds great, but I've been watching you this whole time framed slightly to the left, not exactly in the center 😅

Thanks for the kind words and suggestions!

What does fit have to do with color 😂
I think what he meant was they look better on him based on the skin tone compared to the color of the clothes? :)
@@thebeatmajors_yt "suit" then
How do I shoot with the background you have in this video? Thanks
Its really just a grey backdrop and I used my keylight with a honeycomb so that the light didn't spill on it and thats why it looks almost black :)
Do you recommend an 85mm lens over others?
for talking heads that your film of yourself, that is very far and usually location doesnt allow for it. But if possible, sure, it can be an interesting option. I would not say that I prefer it over a 50mm or even 35mm.
Hey would love to contact you and speak to you about having some consultation about setting up my space
Hey Asabre, thanks for your comment! Its funny because I just updated the links today, so here you can book a 1 hour consulting call. I would be happy to help you set up your space! bit.ly/videoconsultingcall
Hi! Can I grab this video as a model for my short-form video? Thanks
Go ahead
thank you!
GReat content
Thanks Gabriel!

Thanks for the video. By the way the background is looking "pixilated" even in 4k and it is annoying. How can we avoid it?
In my opinion it is the "noise" that always be there at dark background... to minimize it consider add light ( warm light the best way to light black background)
3:47 - is this black or dark grey background?
@Dennis Schrader
Its dark grey
Calendly link for consulting does not work :(
Write me an email at dennis@dennisschrader.com - I got you covered :)
Can I ask what type of microphone is good for making talking head videos?
Do you care if it’s visible in the frame?
@@creatorvideo-school I don't mind. I want to make some good tarot reading videos for my channel but my voice sounds squeaky
I shoot with a 16mm f/1.4 so I don't have to clean my home office much before recording. 🤓😎
way to go!
y no new videos?
Now they are coming!
Too wide
Good video but ironically, I am watching this outside (lots of sun) and all I see is a floating head , so hard to see anything 😂
