A type rating I will hold dear for the rest of my life was getting a type rating in a DC-3 all the while my grandfather watched me who flew DC-3's/C-47's & the P-47 in the 40's & 50's

What would happen if you left your boost pumps on during takeoff?
I figure it's covered a couple of times in the checklists, but what if?

Love the sound of those Pratt and Whitney’s . They do the 10 count to push the oil drainage out of the lower cylinders, than they turn on the mag’s .

Making sure that the lower cylinders don't have hydraulic lock before allowing the engine to fire.

What is the deal with counting? Is that running the starter for 10 seconds to clear cylinders and then mags on after? Not a pilot so idk why they would do that.

C-47?i thought it was a DC-3 and the C-47 is the military version of the DC-3

The DC-3 has several "C-" designations...

Many Retired C-47s went into civilian service. There was a huge surplus of them.
