- Welcome to another episode of "Marathon Training with Luis Orta"! In this chapter, join Luis as he embarks on a high-altitude training camp in Iten, Kenya. Along with seven of his athletes and their pacers, they rise early to adhere to the schedule of morning and afternoon runs, workouts, and other activities, all set against the beautiful scenery that Iten has to offer this season.
Coming off the Berlin Marathon, Luis shares insights into his recovery journey, transitioning from no running to jogging using the "Lever" system. This tool enables him to reduce a percentage of his body weight during his easy runs on the treadmill, facilitating a gradual and controlled recovery.

Have a great time and speedy recovery! I didn't know cardio drops that fast when taking a break; I do only strength training, cardio is brutal IMO; all my body slamming into the ground constantly..boom boom boom🙈 but I do love watching people running so 🤞😅
Starting back running after a “short” break (1-2 weeks) feels like you never really ran, VO2 Max and every thing else drops like a bad habit…lol

When i had a vicious back injury i had to drag myself to the hot swimming pool at the YMCA and swim for an hour or day. Now the only time my back hurts is if i go in workout then do a 10 mile run somehow lifting weights and running doesn't help. I would recommend hot water therapy swimming.
