- The second episode of our newest series, "Chasing The Marathon" a 40Km Long Run in beautiful Boulder, Colorado, where Luis, Daniel, Mauricio and Ivan break in two groups of 30km and 40km respectively. It's the first successful week here in Boulder and we are already seeing gains!
Follow our series where four Olympic athletes have gathered to train together and chase new marathon personal best times. Follow Luis Orta, Daniel Chaves from Brazil, and Mauricio and Ivan Gonzales from Colombia who will join forces and train at altitude for a few weeks, defeating the heat and every tough workout.

Luis Orta I completely understand the focusing aspect of marathon running. It is hard to focus when there are so many people spreading their love and support and as you know the mind likes to wander. I’m currently trying to work on being more focus during marathons. I think I get distracted during marathons because it’s a way of my body telling me to stop running. Anyway I’m sure you will PR and at the end of the day everyday is a gift to run 🏃♂️ 💯 🏆
I couldn't agree more! Maintaining focus during a marathon can be quite a challenge. It's natural for the mind to wander, but with practice, you will get better, no doubt. Thank you for your encouraging words, and yes, every day is indeed a gift to run 🏃♂💯

Thanks Luis! It did take 8-10 videos to watch on the treadmill, and did finish my first half marathon on the treadmill yesterday with your help!
Luis, as always: very much impressed. I love your honesty when you said that you struggle too the last bit of the marathon. I ran a way slower pace but I struggled too the last couple of miles despite of the mileage I put in..I never did 40k training sessions...phew..that's a lot. Really love watching you progress to a no doubt super marathon time.

¡No, más bien me ayuda! Para mí el maratón es una distancia que se me hace un poco larga, y poder cubrirla en entrenamiento me da la confianza que lo puedo hacer física y psicológicamente. Muchos atletas están haciendo 40-45km en su preparación 2-3 veces por ciclo. Yo me he sentido cómodo haciéndolo y me recupero rápido, ahora espero que en la carrera me ayude con esos últimos km.

Since you struggle so hard on that you should definitely try to run longer long run, even like 50 km for the longest one in the prep, adding that 30 min more even with some ks with slower pace will give you much confidence when it comes to a proper marathon, it will feels "shorter"....also stay always on the front during the long run in training like eliud
