I have been considering/comparing these two bikes. I love the IBIS redesign and it’s definitely more modern plus I completely agree with wider i35mm rims for running 29x2.5-2.6” tires. On the other hand, the Pivot has the reputation of being a more refined frame, almost custom designed. I completely agree with the super boost for stronger wheels and stability for longer travel (approaching DH bikes) Either way I would probably be happy with either one.
Still wish the Ripley was 27-28lbs...wish I could ride one as the new one is being described just like the old one... besides head angle I'm trying to see what the new Ripley brings to the table. Especially when the switchblade pedals very similar but is much more capable. I actually think this is a good comparison, as these new short travel trail bikes are getting heavier, but tried and true designs like the switchblade and smuggler offer more capabilities with similar pedaling efficiency. 31lbs for a carbon 130mm trail bike.... Why?
You guys are really comparing odd bikes. Switchblade vs Ripmo. Ripley vs 429.
Good videos though!
You beat me to it.
Yeah, shoulda been SB vs Ripmo V3. Hard to compare 130/140 with aFox 34 to 142/160 with a Fox 36.
This is like comparing a Mustang vs an Expedition and a F150 vs a Fiesta.
@@brianwilliams2907 I searched ripmo vs switchblade and didn't even realize this wasn't the review till i saw this comment lmao

compare pivot with yeti 130 sb?
Wow my Trance Advanced is only 28 lbs but it's only 115 mm rear Fox 34 - 130mm front
Pivot is more expensive and that super boost spacing is just annoying. Ibis all the way!
Better colors w/ Ibis too. Although I currently ride a T429.
