I started waking up at 4:30 am during COVID work from home years. When I went back to the office, I was allowed to continue the 5 to 1 work schedule and I love it. At 9am my work day is half over and at 1 pm I'm still up to a walk/run outside or a work out at the Y. Then, I have the rest of the day for what ever. I love it! By the way, I'm 55 and I haven't felt this healthy in years!
If you sleep for 8 hours and manage your time well, it doesn’t matter if you wake up at 4am or 10am. Both sleep the same amount of time and can be managed just as well.
When I get up for nightshift I was sleeping from around 8am to like 3 or 4pm so it is around 7 to 8 hours. I always have a hard time getting up for dayshift which is around 4am so I sleep about the same amount for either day or nightshift, but I notice that my energy drops faster during nightshift. It is harder to get up early but if you went to sleep early enough then it keeps you energized longer.
This was fun to watch man. I’m bad for sleeping in, I don’t even want to give a time. 😂 I’m going to try and get better after watching this though. 4:00 am though? Only for flights to tropical places for me.
I’m usually up at 3-3:30 am. I freelance and work at home for decades. I get a lot of things done before 9 am. I’m sound asleep around 9 pm. My head hits the pillow and I’m out in minutes and in a 6 hour deep sleep.
You need at least 7 hours, preferably 8 hours, of sleep in order for your body to recover completely and allow your body to perform better throughout the day.
I wake up pretty much everyday between 3:30 - 5:30am, going to bed between 10:30 and 11:30pm. My key to success is taking 90 minute to 3 hour siesta, mid day at least 4X per week. All in all I sleep about 7 hours per day, and I'm super productive when I need to be.
From the Philippines here I've woken up around 4-5am every day since I was 8 years old This is because of the scheduled Water service, trash service, and delivery services at that time. And it's VERY hard to work in the tropical heat at 12-3pm (We also call it "Siesta" Time)
OK bro, we'll just tell the boss we are going to take a 3 hour break for a siesta. That only works if you live in a country where everyone else does it.
@@MrAmbrosse This. What are they thinking I arrive at home at 5 and then I do the siesta? Wake up at 7 then go to bed 12 or something hahahaha no. However if you work evening it is perfect. I sleep something like 5 to 6 hours plus the siesta and boom perfect.
Beside the topic of your channel, like workout, gym, physic, motivation etc... i gotta say you have really good skills in video making and film skills actually. Your vids are all the time a pleasure to watch, not only just for the topic of it . Its clean smooth and pro :)
I always train before work. Used the end of daylight savings as a springboard to start waking at 430am (was already used to waking at 530) and kept it up for ages. I like being the only one on the road and part of the 5am club at the gym (the same 8 ppl would be there every morning). After gym I'd go home and just chill before work. In your vid you mention nature, it is amazing that time of day. The stars, moon, sunrise are my faves. Best of all no distractions! Only downfall is that by about 2pm I'm stuffed. So I have changed back to 530 wake up and I'm usually in bed 9ish. Ongoing routine is key.
I wake up at 4am because that is the only time I really have to myself, with no distractions. I can take care of most of my tasks for the day before my kids are even up, then feel good about being with them for the majority of the day afterward.
I’ve worked evening and night shifts for the past 3 years due to my job. I would wake up whenever I felt like it (usually 11am-1pm). Well as of a week ago I got a new job and now I wake up at 6am (work 8am-6pm). The change was hard for this past week M-F, but this weekend I naturally woke up at ~7am on Saturday and Sunday. I am going to try to maintain waking up early *and staying up* on Saturdays and Sundays in order to make my Mondays easier.
Just stumbled across your channel and could swear you and Mark Rober are brothers by the sounds of your voices and the way you talk. Listen to him and you will be listening to the sound of yourself.
I wake up at 445am to be at work by 530, it’s hard to wake up and get straight to work, but the hardest part for me is just waking up.. But soon enough, 2pm comes and I’m free to do whatever I want for the day.. I’ve learned to appreciate it 😊
I have been waking up at 0400 when covi- I mean the "C" virus, had hit, it feels great waking up early man. I haven't watched any other videos of yours, but I wanted to see how other people see waking up this early. Great video by the way.
Waking up early (4:00 for me) is hard to do, but once you get in a habit of it, and at a young age (I'm 13), it really sets you up for success in life, it has changed my life and I'm glad that you did a vid about this, proving that trying hard gets you somewhere in life.
I get up early to give me ample time to workout. Ideally, I'll then be able to have a nap later in the morning or in the afternoon depending on shifts at work. It's a good feeling getting my workout done early because I can then focus on other things instead of worrying whether I'll have enough time. As someone else has mentioned, going to bed at 8pm and getting up at 4am is pointless if you're going to insist on eight hours' sleep. The idea ought to be to give yourself a longer day, hence the recuperative power of naps. Five hours' sleep is enough for me if I can fit in a daytime nap.

I'm up at 2:30am, gym by 3:15-4:20, work at 5. Go to sleep around 6:30-7pm. I know its not for everyone but it works for me. (6 months in and I have no regrets) You don't need to wake up early but find some time in your day/night to just work out, you wont regret it if you stick to it.
I wake up at 2:05am, I think waking up at 2:30am is a bit casual. I think if you're gonna wake up that late, better just wake up at the same time like everyone else.
I've worked a few jobs where I have to get up that early. No matter how early I go to bed I always wake up feeling exhausted with zero appetite, so I under eat, and within an hour I am starving. I would much rather wake up on my own accord, which leaves me feeling the best. Productivity is nothing more than a mental state and will power.
I wake up at 3:50 am for work and I thought it would suck but I actually love it. I sleep 5 1/2-6 hours and function great and hardly ever feel tired during the day. I'm done with work by 1 pm or earlier while most of my friends work til like 5. So much more time left in the day for me
Wow that’s really early. Are you sure it’s entirely nescesarry to be productive? I don’t want to make you change your mind so if you feel it is that’s man keep doing it. It would be impossible for me because I have many after school activites that end later than 8 pm so yea…
I wake up around 4am to study, but I usually go to bed around or before 23:00😂 I just get about 5-6 hours of sleep. It’s a great technique but exhausting sometimes.
one thing I would suggest is maybe changing it up to 5AM and that you don't necessarily need 8 hours of sleep. there is research out there about sleep cycles and different bodies need different amounts of sleep. Dr. Michael Breus is someone to go look at for sleep research. You just need to get into making sure you wake up outside of your sleep cycles. So 6 to 6.5 hours is good. So my preferred routine is 22:30 - 5:00 and then I get proper rest and still early enough to get stuff done. Also exercise in the morning as you wake up has been shown to increase hormones to help you wake up easier. But just like most things you need to get used to it so sticking to it for more than a week is preferred before you don't feel tired anymore.
Unless you fall asleep within a minute you're not getting the full cycles. Those 6.5h means the time where you are actually asleep and does not include the period where you try to fall asleep.
I try to fall asleep at 9 so I can wake up at 4:20. It’s really not that bad. I get to the gym at around 5. Then I work out until around 6:30. The best part tho is getting to hear the birds wake up.
I wake up at 3:45am every morning for work. Working on waking up at 2 am to get the morning workout in before I go to work! That is hard as hell to do!
Lol I did some free labor work other day lugging building mats for my sister I’m strong but I gassed quick with my asthma in the heat carrying shit wrong. Good workout though. Y’all a different breed
I've been waking up at 4AM every day for the past 3+ months and it gives me around 3 hours till my kids wake up at around 7AM. In the first hour, I have coffee and learn german as a hobby and as a way to kickstart my brain. After that a bunch of chores and exercise. From time to time I spend the whole 3 hours working on 1 particular thing (odd editing jobs) or just have fun for 3 straight hours (playing 2-3 videogames per year or watching UFC on Sunday in Europe). As long as it is possible I wish never to go back to waking up together with my kids. I'm so much more efficient now.
During my summer holidays from school I generally wake up at 6:30 and that is early enough for me. I can’t really wake up earlier because of my soccer practices ending at 8:30 pm. My routine is to wake up hydrate then be out the door for a 5km run at 7:00 am. Than I’ll come inside do a stretching routine and then have a really small breakfast. Usually just one egg and maybe a banana. Then, I’ll go outside to do my individual soccer practice around 45 minutes. Then I’ll do about 30 minutes of soccer juggling. After I’ll do all my chores I have to do for the day. This makes it so I’m done all my physical work before lunch. I’ll enjoy a pretty big lunch while watching RUclips videos and then I can relax, do homework, and go to soccer practice for the rest of the day
I am up at 4am to workout, household chores, get myself ready before I have to get my kids up for school, work on my hair bow business and study since I have recently gone back to school.
I wake up at 5am every work day and go to bed around 9. I eat breakfast, then go to the gym (opens at 6) and then I shower and leave to work at 7:45 When I come home after work I simply don't have the energy or motivation to workout so doing it first thing in the morning leaves to room for excuses. On days where I don't workout I hike with my dog or do house chores. It helps me relax after work.
This summer I (36m) started waking up at 5:30am because if I woke up any later my kids would hear me and get up, too. It allowed me to get in a morning jog and egg white french toast for protein synthesis (see previous Pigmie). I was turning lights off in the house at 9pm and gradually going to bed after that. I think the morning hours are worth it. Just hard to be consistent every single day. I think 4am isn't necessary, however waking up at 5:30 eventually made me wake up before that time due to changing my circadian rhythm. I don't know what I'll do when it's cold out. Summer is a bit easier imho. Without enough sleep your NEAT might go down due to less energy, so you could gain weight. I wonder how waking up early affected your eating window for IF as well (I stopped doing IF about the same time I started waking up early, but my window used to be 12-8pm. Now I just count calories).
The hardest part is the sleeping early. I've been trying to nearly 1 year now and still don't know how to go to bed early, if anybody has tips please share
i wake up around 6-6:30 every day apart from weekends. i have a paper round (ik it’s an odd job but i’m only 14 at the time of writing) so i have to get up and do that before school - luckily i live within 15 mins walking of my school, 10 if it’s without friends. and most nights (again excluding weekends) i go to bed between 8 and 10
4.30am... while sleeping 3-5hours since september due to insomnia, I am in deep depression and just burned out. Worst part is that I have to leave 5am and work 9hours... then comeback and there is no more motivation to do anything. Its a huge difference when you do not have a "9 to 5 job", also mental state is key to everything...
@@devilstreet3496 I woke up at 5 am while having an office work. I studied the first 3-4h to prepare for a phd and then went to the office and worked for another 8 hours. It worked for me because my boss at the time didn't notice any performance decrease and I am now a phd candiate.
Agreed! I like waking up mad early but try telling your significant other and/or kids that you are peacing-out at 7:30... it generally doesn’t go well.
I'm also less productive because I wake up earlier than my body's natural rhythm, but for the exact opposite reason. I don't really mentally get going until 10:30 in the morning no matter what time I wake up, but my job expects me to be logged in/on site by 8:00. If I've got enough time off to go back to my natural sleep cycle, I'm most productive late at night, but I've found that I can't sacrifice sleep for that productivity because I get too sleepy after being up for 16 hours.
I also starting from tomorrow i will wakeup 4 am or 4 30 am for study but thank you 🙏 because you i sow your videos daily i get more information from your video and i realize to do new something thanks 🙏
I go to bed between 10:00pm and 12:30. And wake up between 5-7:00am. I’ve never felt rested no matter how much sleep I get. I typically have a hard time waking up and that’s the way it’s been my whole life.

I read that Reagan went to work at 9 am and left by 6. It’s more about how productive you are at what you do. Sometimes throwing time at a problem doesn’t help.
I don’t have curtains in my bedroom so I wake up as the sun rises ,no annoying /startling alarm going off .Since I’ve made this change it literally changed my life for the better .
The weeks I have to open at work I wake up at 4:15 and it is HELL, BUT a lot of people are way more productive when they wake up early so plan your days (as best you can) around when you personally are productive.
As an opener at two different jobs, it is crazy before you get used to it because the morning goes by faster than you think, and before you know it, your shift is over, and you still have the ENTIRE afternoon left. While everyone else is at work, the world's your oyster. Yes, you go to bed earlier, but at that point most places/people are closing/winding down anyway.
4am is the middle of the night. I think it depends on your circumstances/family. Personally I go to bed about 11 and get up just before 7am. I'm sure I could be more productive if I got up an hour or 2 earlier but that would mean going to bed earlier and sacrificing down time in the evening.
Been doing this for years in the military. Some adapt better than others but for me personally.... ugh. I hate waking up when the sun is down. Beyond physical effects, it has a mental draining effect on me and I just never really feel like I'm refreshed or ready to tackle the day.
I wake up at 5-6 am every day as a 17 year old and has been doing it for a year, my biggest tip and game changer is to take a nap at about 5 pm and it helps yo to focus’s the whole day and never have a dip!
I did this experiment too, except it was for work. Wake up at 4, work at 5. It's the best way to beat the heat if your job is physically intensive and in the heat. Full summer of it. But nothing is better than the days when you sleep in.
I feel like the idea it gets u more time is dumb, bc if u still sleep 7 hours, then it’s 17 hours in the day, wake up and sleep at different times no matter how u arrange it u get 0 “extra time” unless u don’t sleep as much, or if ur driving somewhere when it’s early enough traffic won’t be bad, that’s the only way I could see time being saved.
It's because we waste all our time at night doing nothing but watching TV and hard to focus when it's noisy in our houses. But by getting up earlier, it's quieter and u can get stuff done and sleep earlier to avoid wasting the time at nights
I start waking up at 5 A.M, for boxing matches, like a Champ

I started waking up at 4:30 am during COVID work from home years. When I went back to the office, I was allowed to continue the 5 to 1 work schedule and I love it. At 9am my work day is half over and at 1 pm I'm still up to a walk/run outside or a work out at the Y. Then, I have the rest of the day for what ever. I love it! By the way, I'm 55 and I haven't felt this healthy in years!
Thinking of following this routine myself also!
If you sleep for 8 hours and manage your time well, it doesn’t matter if you wake up at 4am or 10am. Both sleep the same amount of time and can be managed just as well.
I don’t think it’s the same, I think there’s studies showing waking early is still more beneficial.
True
@@hectormcconnel373true, but 4am isn't entirely necessary, even getting up at 6 when it's not your typical routine can make huge differences
No people outside , if u workout outside in a area where usually people are around, guess what, nobody there
This was fun to watch man.
That’s pretty tuff stuff
Ok but you need 8 hours
You need at least 7 hours, preferably 8 hours, of sleep in order for your body to recover completely and allow your body to perform better throughout the day.
@@exception2676 Not the case if you're having deep sleep. 6 to 7 hrs max
@@StarsAreBright Not necessarily. 6 to 7 hrs of quality sleep and your body will adapt

From the Philippines here
I've woken up around 4-5am every day since I was 8 years old
This is because of the scheduled Water service, trash service, and delivery services at that time.
Bruh I could never. I try to be asleep by 9 so I can wake up a 4:20.

4am in mid summer is lovely. I often get up and play golf before 5 and am back home by the time most people get up
I have been waking up at 4:00AM for the last two years and sleeping at 9:00PM sharp.
Wow this was an incredibly well put together video! Great experience you shared
Waking up early (4:00 for me) is hard to do, but once you get in a habit of it, and at a young age (I'm 13), it really sets you up for success in life, it has changed my life and I'm glad that you did a vid about this, proving that trying hard gets you somewhere in life.
Changed your life? Your 13 😆 🤣 😂
Bruh when I was 13 I’d fall asleep at like 3 and wake up at 11💀
I get up early to give me ample time to workout.
Love the training montage music! Reminds me of Assassins Creed Odyssey!

I get up at 4:00 every morning and have been for the last ten years. Getting to bed early the key to making it work.

i wake up around 3 am and i sleep around 6 or 7 pm, i do this because i like to workout before school and do homework before school (:
But 3? Like 5 is more than enough no. Are you not able to do anything with anyone then
Wow that’s really early.
Those 6.5h means the time where you are actually asleep and does not include the period where you try to fall asleep.
as one of those employees I appreciate the shout out 👊❤
I try to fall asleep at 9 so I can wake up at 4:20.
Yeah my life of heavy labor has had me waking up at 4am for the last 30 years.. Now it's a battle to sleep in till 6am on the weekends.
Lol I did some free labor work other day lugging building mats for my sister I’m strong but I gassed quick with my asthma in the heat carrying shit wrong. Good workout though. Y’all a different breed
I think that maybe the key factor here isn't so much that you wake up early.... it's that everyone else doesn't.
I’ll enjoy a pretty big lunch while watching RUclips videos and then I can relax, do homework, and go to soccer practice for the rest of the day
One day I waked up at 5AM, there was no one outside and it felt like a dream, I could walk anywhere do anything, I really want to get that back
This was really well edited
I am up at 4am to workout, household chores, get myself ready before I have to get my kids up for school, work on my hair bow business and study since I have recently gone back to school.
I wake up at 5am every work day and go to bed around 9.
I eat breakfast, then go to the gym (opens at 6) and then I shower and leave to work at 7:45
When I come home after work I simply don't have the energy or motivation to workout so doing it first thing in the morning leaves to room for excuses.
Usually when I wake up early i can't think straight for a while haha
I love that I've got quiet time to myself, but it just takes longer to get going
This has inspired me and I'm now going to take on this challenge myself

I'm also less productive because I wake up earlier than my body's natural rhythm, but for the exact opposite reason. I don't really mentally get going until 10:30 in the morning no matter what time I wake up, but my job expects me to be logged in/on site by 8:00. If I've got enough time off to go back to my natural sleep cycle, I'm most productive late at night, but I've found that I can't sacrifice sleep for that productivity because I get too sleepy after being up for 16 hours.

I wake up at 5:30 every morning. I work on a fencing crew. It is a 45 minute drive to work every morning.

I've been waking up at 4 for about 3 months now, and going to bed at 7 pm is just so nice.

Since COVID I get 10 hours of sleep and still feel tired but when I was doing kickboxing 5 times a week I was getting 5 hours and feeling great
I feel like the idea it gets u more time is dumb, bc if u still sleep 7 hours, then it’s 17 hours in the day, wake up and sleep at different times no matter how u arrange it u get 0 “extra time” unless u don’t sleep as much, or if ur driving somewhere when it’s early enough traffic won’t be bad, that’s the only way I could see time being saved.
It's because we waste all our time at night doing nothing but watching TV and hard to focus when it's noisy in our houses. But by getting up earlier, it's quieter and u can get stuff done and sleep earlier to avoid wasting the time at nights
