    They kicked off with this song when I took my dad to see them on their final tour (he was a life long fan), he was on his last legs by the time it came around and died of C a couple of months later. I cried through the first six songs. He had a blast. Miss you dad.

That's terrible. I'm glad you two got to experience these guys live. Hold onto that memory forever.

      i have always thought so too...[that it's not only one of the greatest album covers, but also during a special-magical-time-window'] [but!] it might just be that i was sixteen, and because everything at that age is just subjectively rather 'magical', maybe it's just some funny idea, but no, i think it's a little-more-than-that, mate...i know i've been sixteen for a rather extended period of time now and then, and i think it's pretty cool, while others, seem to disagree...and y'know what? that's alright! ha ha

    • @sandmanbub
      @sandmanbub 4 года назад +4

      @Stinger You must have misunderstood my comment, If you're not used to hearing anyone playing in the pocket or in a pocket, it's a term musicians understand and has to do with timing. One can be mechanical and precise to the point of sounding like a machine or one can progress past that point and add the human element which takes great talent to perfect. Stewart's developed that ability as did Neil Piert and many others. This also applies to other instruments. My son can play in the pocket with his bass guitar, but is still developing his own style on the six string. I too play and started in a marching band in the early 70's. Everyone strives to be precise at first, then either on their own or with the help of a mentor learns to loosen up and let their style dictate deviations from strict tempo always returning to tempo on the accent. Others can explain much better than I can. Google it and some RUclips videos should pop up.

      I thought it was brilliant. Just like they did in older recording studios where everything was Direct To Disc recordings. That means the recording device was a Disc Recorder when records are made from a Reel To Reel tape transferred to a Record Cutter or Disc Recorder. The music is fantastic in fidelity and when played on tube stereo player.
      When CDs came out in the early 80s, they were expensive and sounded harsh. A lot of engineers hated them and designed outboard devices to put the Soul back into the music. Todays machines are a little better but I still prefer a headphone stereo booster to add some punch and dynamics to tolerate the lack of quality especially in RUclips videos and music.
