One thing must be made verry clear the netherlands are never an underdog , the statistics do not lie .
Every result from all teams used after 1950 ( modern era of profesional football . )
    The Netherlands appeared 8 time
    Reached the
    final 37% of the time
semi-final 63% of the time ( never lossed a semi-final match only to be decided on penalties against Brazil and Argentina)
Quarter final 75 % of the time (1994 knocked out by Brazil in a classic extremely exiting game with many leggends on the pitch )
Round of 16 100% of the time . 2 x nocked out in 2 verry memborable rough games . 1990 germany ( rijkaard spiting on voller) 2006 portugal (known as the battle of nuremburg record yelow and redcards in a match )
The only 2 other nations that have these type of percentages are Brazil and Germany .
Argentina and France beeing second higest in these percentages .
Argentina 27 % of a semi- final and 27% final
    France 46 % of a semi-final and 23% of a final
The 3 teams that are next are
    uruguay semi-final 33% and final 8%
    Spain semi-final 14% and final 7 %
    England semi-final 20% and 7%

Fair point. I am purely counting them as underdogs as no one seems to mention them when they talk about the favourites to win it (Argentina, Brazil, France and England maybe is what you mainly hear). Whilst I believe they do stand a chance, but barely anyone really gives them a chance, which in my opinion makes them an underdog :)

@@themondayleague England is a verry over hyped nation , many players are just priced out of the markets as there are hardly any good english players in england to begin with . and their track record in tournaments are not that good. they only have 172 english players in the premier league of those only 60% get playing time and of those just 40% are first team starters or regular substitutes. .
Plus their national team football is just horrible to watch .
Also their manager is a complete cookoo bird .
On the Netherlands they are best when they are a team . 1990 was just horrible just like 1996 , and 2012 when egos ran the team , 2014 it was a real team also with young new players , when koeman had his spell at the national team he returned the team mentaltiy and reached the final of the nations league , defeating France and Germany , had a great list of friendlies and qualification , most people outside the netherlands didnt even know who the players where.
2010 there was little expectation there was hope but little expectation .due to the way they played .
Now this year same thing , most people are amazed why is he not on the team or why is he in the team , And like rinus michels van gaal said i want a good team . And that is what he created .

@@marcusfranconium3392 I'm not saying England is a favourite, just making sure you don't misinterpreted me. Just in general, they are viewed as one of the favourite :)
