We are going to go over the macaco, which is a movement that usually is considered a flip. The beauty of the macaco is that you are able to do it in a game, and still within a game. Once we come in to like acrobatics. The macaco can always start like this. (?) is going to demonstrate.
He is going to get himself in to a squat position. Actually, the way he is demonstrating the macaco here is not from the ginga. Eventually, he's going to demonstrate how to do the macaco from ginga, if pretending that he were in a game. Now he is standing there. He is going to place his hand behind you, and swing his legs over. So he is going to jump over and that is the macaco, all the way around.
All this can be done, again. From there, he is going to go from ginga. So, now if he is doing the ginga, he goes in, and macaco. So basically, you don't have to leave the game. You can always do the macaco. From ginga it is straight in to it. Usually when you apply the macaco, it is very important to make sure you have your hands flat on the floor.
You are going to be pretty much working very hard with your shoulder muscles, and that it is very important for you to engage your hips in to it, in to the swing. Use your legs to push off the floor. From there, it is a single momentum that takes you all the way around. So, as you see (?) has his hand placed there, on the ball of his feet.
Pretty much he is going to shoot his hips in to the air, and then from there, push with his feet and jump across. Usually, it takes a lot of practice for you to do the macaco. Of course, you won't get it by trying once or twice. You have to try, I would say, a couple of times or even a hundred times. It takes practice. So from there you can push off with your feet. Place your hand on the floor. It is all about momentum, and that is the macaco. - Хобби
I was told to do this first before trying the backflip
Yes, you should learn this before a backflip-
this will help u to overcome the backflip fear :>
yea
Cool right place, Right time

ohhh my god everyone needs to realize that capoeira is effective and all the acrobatic aspects of this martial art like the macaco for example is just for the dance/disguise style to this martial art. Some videos proving that capoeira can be used in UFC without the dance/acrobatics are fucking posted just type capoeira knockout(grammar Nazis u guys can suck me up)
you can do macaco against the wall, by climbing with your legs.
Also going to the bridge with walking your hands down the wall.
Once you feel comfort in doing both of these, try going faster with less steps and with more momentum and eventually you will get there. Cheers :)
I love you. I'm at work right now but I'm gonna try this when I get home 😤
i did it in two tries lol but its dificult!!! especially to overcome the fear of falling into your head or something its a mind game this one.
I use the handstand to help me
I keep on trying but my fear factor stops me
Im afraid of breaking my hand or something xd
Try doing it with just the support hand
pro tip for learning this from an ex gymnast. find hills of varying slopes. do it backwards down the hill, switching to less steep hills as you get better until you can do it on flat ground. how i learned back handsprings
this is a cultural form of fighting. you do know that martial arts weren't created for harming one another. martial arts all over the world were created to master self control, and discipline
Thats my old professor!! lol
Really omg that was mine to
Nice is it actually or is it a joke
@@jm09161982 a lot of the mastres on howcast are teachers lol
Muito instrutivo !
Definitely, but it does require enough strength and power to:
a) Get your arm to support your weight as you hop over
b) To push off the ground to actually go over
That being said, it actually takes less leg power than it seems. Learn to use your hips to drive yourself up, and as the vid points out, momentum does help, so you gotta be brave enough to trust yourself to make that hop over.
If you find that your arms can't support yourself, take it slow and train up aye :)
any ARMYs here learning boy meets evil lol
MyRudeTae me
me HAHAHA
I’m no Army, but you I got friends in Army looking for Army peeps for ya!
Haha.....me too!
Clumsy Jimin yes and I still can't do it :(((
muito massa mano
Yes it is possible, make sure to warm up good, with special attention to you wrists and bridge position, and then go for it, you will be surprised :)
As someone who does capoeira and MMA, I have to say... I love capoeira, and in THEORY the movements generate a great deal of power. However, they are extremely hard to land without your opponent simply dodging them.
On the other hand, the front kicks are the reverse. They're faster than muay Thai style kicks and all look the same so they're MUCH easier to land, although less powerful.
Mostly, I like capoeira for the exercise regimen and focus on using your core in all your movements.
I’m still trying so I can do a macaco and then learn to do a backflip
Same
@@juli0s02 how'd it go?
Very Good
Nice👏
more please!!!
Saludos desde chile
So how do you do it please?
That's like a backwards cartwheel. I probably have to build up my body first. Lol
its hard to not turn completely into a valdez when you've done valdez for years, but it definitely makes it easier to do as a whole :-)
I agree. it feels more natural
How am i gonna make it up to mr. valdez? But if you close your eyes...
Can you do an Au (cartwheel) at least? If not then no.
On a backflip tutorial I had to do the macaco but I couldn’t do it even If I tried my hardest...so I went on this video and I listened really carefully but I still couldn’t do it and it took 2 whole days of trying but I still couldn’t do it so now I can’t do a backflip or a macaco
Haha. Keep trying bro. As the teacher said, u gotta try a hundred times or more
Thanks
Is there a separate name for a one handed macaco? I did one while trying to stand up, not sure how, but have worked on it and got it pretty smooth
I’ve done the one handed mocaco and called it the recovery flip, or if you want something quick- the one hand arc :3 I’m your friend, this isn’t an official name
Gonna do this when I get high so I won't feel it if I'm hurt I'm gonna be still smiling
There's actually a few capoeiristas who have done fairly well in the Bellator MMA circuit.
I love capoera
Gabrielle Santos who doesn't
Gabrielle Santos love português
Whiteraven a lot of people dont like capoeira
awsome
Do brasil para o mundo
Brendo Andrade ?
Uma delícia
he's talking about velocity. Muay thai is the strongest because of the swing and hardness of the shin.
You obviously have never played capoeira, it is an art style as well as martial art. It may not look as powerful as a hard-stance martial art but in off-the-ground fighting you find that the momentum produced from these acrobatics focused into the heal going into the face of a poor guy has much more damaging potential than a standing straight kick.
Amei
LUNACT POWER vc aprendeu ?
capoeira requires lots of hard work man it's not just dancin' watch the video made by discovery channel (i think) about martial arts and see which one has the strongest kick...
Marcus Aurelio would lay you out. And he'd be doing backflips the whole time.
nice
He did a backwards cartwheel
Boa br
Oh neat I didnt know there was a name for this move.
Yeah it is, just keep on training and soon you'll manage it =)
other things such as?
This is Lisa a back bend kick over and a cart wheel
looks real fancy
Not as fancy as ya think- but if you do it yourself, it’ll be more than dapper my fancy (please don’t get mad) bro ;3 (I assumed your gender.. please don’t hurt me...)
I only see the Troll dance
Wallbounce Mastery Oh my god I am not the only WoW fanatic here!

I have a white and orange
Is it possible for a chubby dude (173cm 86kg) to do this? I tried doing this a few times :(
Yes, it’s possible. All you need is strong legs, you can keep the chubb, just you need the leg strength
Cesar Mutante ;)
I'm waiting for the expert moves.
....really? well tell me this...was the guy who kicked for May Thai from Thailand? cause if not your argument is void
How is this supposed to help you learn a back handspring?
Vanessa gymnast Because you overcome the fear (if you have such) of doing something backwards.
Okay, thanks for answering.
One more thing- this can teach you how to do a handspring from a crouched position ;3 ever thought of that?
The macaco is fun
I tried for 1 year and not yet succeed.
As every movement in capoeira this is something you learn along the line of progress, so before doing macaco you can learn other things which will help you to master this one. Also this is all about momentum and technique so you could easily learn it in matter of minutes or in 2weeks if you wish to put an effort.
AW man I wish there's some capoeira club here in Hawaii
Look for Capoeira Abolicao.... It's a great academy... In miami
Are you on Oahu? I just got done with Capoeira tonight. Message me if you are on Oahu and have questions.
Não to conseguindo ver o que ele está falando o macaco dele do cara que tá no vídeo está errado eu sou da capoeira cte capoeiragem o meu mestre e mestre balão e o professor e quemadinho
Came from pigmie
That doesn’t 👀 like a macaco
The Macao is ez I do it all the time
Unfortunately- it actually took me first try to mocaco before this video- unlike popular belief- but I’m not saying it didn’t need practice- after my first mocaco- I needed more practice on the cantrip to actually use it to full effectiveness, and in turn- it actually helped me get out of class quicker when I’m in P.E. Not from a squat- but from sitting position- but thank you for pulling in some discretion for the people new to Capoeira and generally and acrobatics and martial arts that have yet to use this! This will greatly reduce the self harm they do when I try to teach them the macaco! (They fall hip first when they do this- and smack their pelvic region into the ground forgetting to land- and so I have to be the one responsible for that-)
thing is all he said was strongest...pound for pound strongest kicks are muay thai
Easy

If you’re looking for a good capoeira tutorial any other RUclips one will be better than these guys his Macaco is litteritly turning into a cartwheel because his second hand is not coming down fast enough he should be flipping with both hands planted from a bridge position in a previous video this guy teaching litteritly said there are no blocks in capoeira with all due respect I do not think these howcast videos are good I think you’re learning bad habits watching these
muay thai...
last
really dude... really
nice
