Just wanted to let you know Gameranx gave you a shout out for your review on this game. Called you an underrated review channel and I couldn't agree with them more. You do a great job and thanks for the content. I have purchased many games based on your reviews and have not been disappointed yet.
Even on easy? Oh man... I just want to have fun, I realize it might not be a popular opinion, but I don't like when I hit difficulty walls in video games.
Just to note, the game was developed by Tindalos Interactive ( the devs behind the Battlefleet Gothic series as well as the lesser known but fantastic stellar impact) and was only published by Focus Home Interactive. I'm a huge fan of Tindalos as an auteur developer so wanted to make sure they got their due.
Tindalos nails atmosphere, just there gameplay and programming (bugs) can have some issues. For example they could have done more with the classes and the base but still great to see that they delivered a great product. Not like battlefleet gothic 2 that was way to undercooked.
It's good, and i'm really glad they went with Aliens movie as the main inspiration, but... the fucking nonstop quotes dude... Listening to it again and again just made me cringe. And i love the movie. There's inspiration, there's respect for the genre, and then there are memberberries. And this is drowning the player in the stuff instead of just sprinkling it throughout. But if i'm supposed to judge it based on the gameplay itself, it was really good. And i'm still not close to finishing it. I'm still trying to get through the damned Olduvai mine without losing people.
@@flare242 "the fucking nonstop quotes dude" is there no mod to remove that, as it is the only thing preventing me from installing and playing it, "Double Time" ........
I started playing it yesterday and I wasn't quite sure about it. But after just a single hour I was ALL IN. So effing good. The atmosphere is spot on. Great lighting. The character shadows on the walls really wowed me.
@@He4Fr I only got a couple hours in, but I found that I need to be aware of all the tools I have available and make use of them intelligently. Easier said than done. 😁 If you use the pause option (as opposed to just slowing down time), then you will have time to process chaotic situations. There is also a "story" difficulty available. I haven't tried that, but I'd bet it makes the game much more approachable. But at default difficulty it seems to be a step tougher than I would expect.

Your review is much more fun than other reviews. I think some players have a hard time accepting that aliens can kick your ass or that you can almost fail the game. It must be stressful. // I have not played yet.
As someone that grew up on the movies, this game looks like the first in the Alien series that I want to play. The gameplay looks suspenseful and action packed. Kind of like the 2nd movie.

That's the third review I watch mentioning the one-liners as a major downside, so it's not just a Mort thing :D Still, nice to see this Xenomorph : enemy unknown in the Darkest Space Station is good
Some things that could improve the game for me .The ability to move injured marines or general personel into the APC .Have the main enviroment view with an option to default to the north .Have the abilty to order troop movement from the map screen .Have a negociation option with the planet's human inhabitants before combat .The posibility to lure the queen out with the face huggers joining her .Have a Bishop android.Have the ability to arrange the proximity and spread ,distance , of the soldiers .Move soldiers back and forward in relation to each other .Have an audio option to dissable profanity .A future expansion that introduces the predator .A predator would want the the planetary infestation to be more intense .So a dynamic would be around the predator doing things to promote the Alien expansion .
Really accurate review, summed it up well. Its really atmospheric and planning is so essential. I agree with the issues, hopefully they fix them. I have to admit rage quitting a few times. Recon snipers love to block themselves from taking shots, and even on the easiest settings the game loves to spam hunts forcing you to just start again. They need to give you more time with onslaughts too, loads of map positions where you can't get to a good spot causing a wipe. Overall I'm still enjoying it, just taking my time.

I’ve been playing it on medium, I’ve been playing these tactical games most of my life and I must say this is so much fun, at the beginning it was hard I will admit the aliens just don’t stop and when you are worn down it gets stressful but by the end of the game I found medium to be too easy to where I did the last few missions like walking in the park so once you learn how be stealth 100% it gets much easier but to that you must have the right gear unlocked and bought. Great video and review 👌

Glad the game is great, a few reviewers mentioned technical issues at launch (fortunately they should be fast to fix) so I'll probably wait a bit for some patches and then jump in. Glad that this was done well, quite rare to get this type of game, especially in the Alien franchise.
I just loved that detailed difficulty settings, catering to how hard you wanna play or how easy. Wished more games do this because your guy here ain't that good at gaming anymore and these detailed difficulties setting certainly help a bunch. One game come to mind is Control.
Even story mode is still difficult. What they call "story mode" should have been "normal". What i am trying to say is, If you want to flagalate yourself in nightmare mode be my guest.
I appreciate Steamdeck section, because it helps me to make decision If I buy on ps5 or PC - mouse vs controller, so little reviewers gives this info. Kinda surprised they didnt decide to give option to move whole squad with left analog ie since you are always moving as a one unit.
I don't even think the game is that overly difficult, but rather tends to become stressful in the later levels. You are being pushed more and more towards swift decisions and an overall more aggressive stance of pushing forward (even stealth-wise), as resources and time managment becomes more and more essential. But I feel that this struggle is actually a great way how the game draws you into the tension. You are literally stressing out - just like your marines. :D
Excellent review. I'm loving this game. I've played the XCOM games and the Jagged Alliance games, but this one really grabbed me. I finished the first 2 missions, but am thinking of starting over again now that I understand the mechanics. One of those games that you want to take your time with and it doesn't help if you have a OCD when it comes to making mistakes, hah!
Great review 👏 one thing for players to remember is the difficulty customization options. It helped me managed the learning curve, and understand the mechanics before attempting to play in higher difficulty.
Agreeing with most of your points, having a great time myself playing this game. Yes, also on the "frustrating" part :-D. Comments fom squad can be deactivated if they needle you. Thanks for the review, good job.
Great game and genuinely tense So many times I was saying “please don’t come in here” as I’m hiding behind a desk with only one entrance and exit. Very rare I feel that way when it comes to games. Much better than I expected.
It`s sounds like a XCOM mixed with the Alien Franchise and the devolpers got it right this time.👌 Since I love both i will give it a shot. Thanks for your Review.🤟
@@sujimayne yes and no. I followed the development but, upon release, the reviews seemed to suggest that it was mediocre. Has that changed and is it worth playing now?
@@repskillian1313 No, but the base and resource management is, and these are the components I miss the most in other TRPGs. I do not really consider real-time with pause vs turn-based to be determinative of the genre: happy to play either.
@@repskillian1313 The game is clearly trying to emulate xcom with the risk/reward, escalating enemy encounters, and timers in and out of a mission. Also...have you seen the mission select and mission finish screens? It screams XCOM. But the cool music is missing :/
I'm glad I watched your review before buying on Steam Deck. I want this game but not gonna play on low settings just to run it on Steam Deck so I'll just buy on PS5. Thanks
It's not easy, but it's far from hard. Tbh I'm finding it a tad relaxing for some reasons. I think (whilst I can't speak for mort) reviews who mentioned it being too hard had "bad gameplay" showing in the background. By bad gameplay I mean "Trying to singlehandedly kill a zenomorph with a handgun". Just my 2cents.
Thank you for covering the game. Alien/Predator has been in my life since I was 4 years old. So 34 years of Alien and the Predator franchises. I will be checking this game out once I get bored of Diablo 4.
Press to select it, then press again to select where you want to place it, but hold down the button still and rotate where you want it to face before you let go of the button.
Reminds me of Cannon Fodder for the Amiga with Xcom style mission sort of system. I'm getting the game when they patch out more bugs I like the idea of the stress system and how it effects your team
Agreed: the squad leader shouting orders out loud, and so often, seems very annoying, and unrealistic in this setting. Nice Review with not too many spoilers at all. Awesome!

It`s sounds like a XCOM mixed with the Alien Franchise and the devolpers got it right this time.👌 Since I love both i will give it a shot. Thanks for your Review.🤟
This one seems like right up my alley and potentially a 100% candidate. Been waiting for a while for a true successor to XCOM - thanks for the review!
@@sujimayne yes and no. I followed the development but, upon release, the reviews seemed to suggest that it was mediocre. Has that changed and is it worth playing now?
real time with pause isn't very xcom like
@@repskillian1313 No, but the base and resource management is, and these are the components I miss the most in other TRPGs.
Jake sent me. 😂 Love the Review man.
I'm glad I watched your review before buying on Steam Deck. I want this game but not gonna play on low settings just to run it on Steam Deck so I'll just buy on PS5. Thanks
Nice review. Thank you. This led me to perusing your videos and subscribing. All the best.
This game looks really fun. I just bought it on steam. Thanks for the review!
I am glad you said it was difficult. Honestly. I have been looking for harder games and passed this one because I thought it would be too easy.
Aliens + TRPG = my cup of tea so it’s a buy for me 🔥
I'm definitely looking forward to future updates.
What difficulty did you play on for this review? and is there a New game plus mode?
Dude you are fast man. Awesome review.
Very thorough review. Thank you.
How did you rotate the turrets? Great review by the way thank you.
Press to select it, then press again to select where you want to place it, but hold down the button still and rotate where you want it to face before you let go of the button.
@@Mark-AnthonyJ thank you!
@@codyattebery2286 for sure! Anytime. I freaking love this game haha!
Im an old school aliens fan and i wish this game was in first person
Me too .
Please no. There are too many first person shooting flooding the market.
Reminds me of Cannon Fodder for the Amiga with Xcom style mission sort of system. I'm getting the game when they patch out more bugs
I like the idea of the stress system and how it effects your team
Agreed: the squad leader shouting orders out loud, and so often, seems very annoying, and unrealistic in this setting. Nice Review with not too many spoilers at all. Awesome!
love the structure of your reviews
Just picked up in the sale after watching your review. These sales are killing my backlog 😅
Great game so far. I was testing it yesterday using low budget rig and it plays so good.
The Game is perfect @mortismal gaming - I wrote to the Developers with a positive review, i just requested very politely more cosmetics, game modes such as horde and just so much more. Cant wait for the DLC
Jake Baldino recommended the channel for this specific review so here I´m.
I'm glad my two game dads (Mortismal & Mandalore) got to spend Father's Day playing the same game!
Great looking game. I enjoy your review style too. I'll be looking forward to more content, brother
how did you even manage to 100% it so fast? incredible work
He had it longer than us
@@5000Seabass well yeah, he mentioned he has had it for about a week, but still incredible to 100% a game in that time frame
@@marshalls951well when its your job.
