    Saw these guys with Patton in Philly a couple years back. They should have formed some band back in the 90s. It would have been great and would have lasted about 3 albums.

    As a lover of Central Asian Music, Im surprised that this kind of music is not happening more. I mean, the actual use of rhythms from the region is a much needed lesson for bands from the west trying to make use of it.

      @Milton Arbogast I've often thought Patton is at his best lending his vocal awesomeness to others' composition awesomeness. I like Patton a lot but he's often only as good as his collaborators.

    • @rumighoul

      @Milton Arbogast Mondo Cane is pretty great, as is Fantomas at points, both of which were projects driven or composed by him I think...? But overall I'd agree.

    It seems Spruance just went greener afterwards (?) It's a nice mix experiment without a lot of composition. It seems someone wanted to be in a Tarantino movie OST lol. So not very impressed, especially when the chaos settles. I guess it was Dream Theater or Limp Bizkit times, so there still were "old teenagers" craving for some overdrive guitar to show up and screw everything else -at any cost. I'd say bands with a well-defined style but still prone to some experimentation sound more sincere and less frivolous overall than this. Listening to this live in a stadium must be a cool experience, though.

    • @CatnipFiend
      @CatnipFiend 3 года назад

      I would say this music is definitely more Dream Theater than Limp Bizkit. I will also say that your argument is pretty profoundly compelling, because Fred Durst is a huge Morricone/Tarantino fan. That’s probably why Spruance decided to keep the Nu-Metal references in the album. I do know that Quentin was also a massive fan of early Nu Metal and quite good friends with Durst and Johnathon Davis. RIP Joee Jordi Sin

      @@CatnipFiendHonestly do you know anyone who isn't an Ennio fan? It's not nu metal at all. We must never use the name Durst b/c it's cursed. Oh and Concrete Blonde already sang of Joey's lament decades ago to the dancing Hillel!

    Really cool stuff. Not sure how I would categorize it. Very soundtrackish at times. I think it's safe to say they know Ennio Morricone is. My only complaint is some of the death metal stuff would probably be better left on an early Opeth or Meshuggah album as it doesn't really fit imo.

    • @MetalNick

      I only wish there was more of it..or Holy Vehm did a whole album. That's some otherworldly death metal. Doesn't sound like any other band.
