Great reaction. Freddie and Montserrat adored each other. Montserrat was one of the few people Freddie told that he was dying of aids. During this performance Montserrat noticed that there were tears in his eyes, so she moved closer and held his hand. If you want more listen to them singing Golden Boy.
He didn't need to tell her. She knew what the mark on his face meant. He was openly walking around with it on show in early 1987, and she told him he needed to cover it up.
I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong; however, I think I remember an interview with Montserrat in which she says that Freddie's eyes were welling up so she reached out her hand to offer support. He may have been overcome by her amazing talent (he adored her), or that fact that he knew this would be his last time on stage. Great reaction!
I am sitting here sobbing. I have listened to the song four times, and I just can't stop crying. That beautiful, soaring voice, silenced forever. What would Freddie be producing now? How can I miss an artist so deeply? I am not the fan girl type, and Queen was big when I was in high school (graduated 45 years ago) so his voice isn't new. Knowing he wrote those gut-wrenching lyrics, and then sang them so touchingly with the great Montserrat Caballé . . . tear wrenching. Beautiful, astoundingly majestic, and a beautiful reaction. Thank you.
Freddie saw Montserrat sing and said she had the most beautiful voice in the world. He invited her to sing and there started a mutual love. She was devastated by his death...😢
Freddie and Monsterat became very close friends. She one said in an interview, “ he loved me very much and I loved him too”. Please check out “The Golden Boy “ from this same album, it will knock your socks off, I promise
Maestro’s Mercury & Montserrat ❤ the most beautiful love affair in music for life 😢 Thank you for such a respectful reaction 😊 Greetings from Cape Town South Africa 🇿🇦
Montsy was “captivated.” The opera star said Freddie’s work was .. “magnificent. It is something very special, it is created from the heart.” She even tried to persuade him to record some pure opera with her. Gotta do THE GOLDEN BOY, music by Freddie & lyrics by Sir Tim Rice. 🌙⭐️💫✨
👏👏👏Montserrat remembered to that night this way: "While he was singing, I noticed that his eyes were shiny with tears. I gave him my hand. He clasped it and kissed it. It was clear he was suddenly aware of his own fate. They were tears of farewell. It was his goodbye, at least to the stage." In terms of Freddie we don't have to talk about his vocals only, but his manners, passion and emotions delivered to the audience and of course his unforgettable stage presence. The Golden Boy from the same event is amazing, a bit more theatrical and dramatic.
My favorite Freddie and Monseratte song! Loved your reaction, it's so great to see younger people learn about Freddie and Queen. Their music will live on forever.
This is my favourite song ever. Freddie wrote the whole Barcelona opera in a couple of weeks. If you dont have this album, get it! It takes you through the storm & delivers you safely to the other side topped up with love, passion & the need to go on. Im a lifelong Queen fan & Freddie was & still is the dogs wotsits! Top tip, put ur headphones on, lie back, close ur eyes & just listen to every sound, feel every emotion it invokes in you. ❤best wishes from Caroline from the UK
Beautiful performance by both of them. Simply outstanding. Montserrat was Freddie's favorite opera singer, he admired her for years. He said something in an interview how he would love for her to sing one of his songs. Somehow the message got to her and she set up a time for them to meet. Honestly, Freddie just wanted her voice on a personal recording singing one of his songs. They met in Barcelona which is where Montserrat lived and they became fast friends. It seems that she also admired Freddie. Freddie intended to do one song with her but she then asked him how many songs are usually on one of his albums, he told her around 12. She said, okay, let's make an album. Freddie had to scramble and write a bunch of new songs because you just don't say no to opera's number 1 Diva. Yes, they became very dear friends. The first time I heard this I was just stunned but I had heard Exercises In Free Love beforehand where Freddie sings Montserrat's part of a song he was writing to send to her to see if she likes it. To hear Freddie singing soprano was mind boggling.
Freddie was an Opera fan and she was his favorite. I believe he said on Spanish radio that she had the best voice he ever heard. In 1986, he mentioned on Spanish television that he would like to meet her, and they met for the first time in Barcelona in February 1987. She had already been asked to do the Olympics and once they had a "love at first meeting" moment she asked Freddie to do a song with her for them. In an interview somewhere here on YT Freddie said he thought the one song would be it. Ended up she wanted to do more so they did 2 others together. For the actual Olympics she went on stage alone but they dubbed in Freddie's voice to sing along with her. Bottom line is they became close and fast friends and cared about each other deeply.
When you can belt out a tune that makes a legendary opera singer speechless, you are really amazing. I wish you could have seen him live. I can vouch that it was an awesome experience.
John Deacon played bass on this beautiful song❤I love this one..so much passion and admiration by both of these wonderful performers ❤Great reaction, thanks❤
The brilliant pairing of Freddie Mercury with Montserrat Caballe was legendary, never equaled before or after, Freddie already knew that he had AIDS, but performed with her more powerfully than even he had ever dons. They have both passed away, (the great Montserrat in recent years) but their magic will live on forever. Thank you for presenting this and your excellent reactions. I am proud to subscribe. Well done.
If this is the best you've heard of Freddie's voice, I strongly recommend avoiding the singles and dig into the albums. You Take My Breath Away is one of the most staggering performances you'll ever hear
So how this relationship started was somebody introduced the record of hers to Freddy and he was mind blown and he said I have to meet her so they met in a lobby at a beautiful hotel and instant connection from there on. She has said that he was the best friend relationship she’s ever had .❤
From everything I’ve read, and interviews from both of these performers… they truly loved each other. As others have mentioned the comments.. Freddie teared up during this song - you’ll notice they held hands through the end.. as Freddie didn’t let go. They were both giants in their ‘lane’ of music. I’ve heard all of the songs on this album many times… they’re all amazing! Thanks for a heart-felt reaction!
There are many lives that you will say it’s the best you have heard Freddie. He was truly a one of a kind. They did love each other. Freddie loved opera and heard her voice and said she was the best in the world. She agreed to meet him. They met in Spain and Freddie brought along a song he wrote for her and sang it showing he was serious. That song is EXERCISES IN FREE LOVE (check it out). They got along beautifully and Monserrat suggested they do an album together. At that time a Rock star never did a collab with an opera star. It was a first. I really want you to react to White Queen live at Hammersmith Oden 1975. It will not only have incredible vocals, but Brian Mays guitar will blow your mind!!! BTW, I watched Live Aid live on my TV on that amazing July 1985 day. When Queen ran out at 6:41pm and began their history making performance my jaw dropped. I had watched several groups since noon time and they did truly blow all of them out of the water. 1.9 billion people joined me in watching that day. It was truly an incredible memory. I still enjoy watching it on RUclips to this day. I have been a huge fan since I first heard Killer Queen on the radio in 1974 here in the USA.
You should listen to Ensueno from this album, Freddie sings completely opera baritone/tenor. Yes they became close friends for the rest of Freddie's life. Great reaction
Freddie's voice is also so perfect in the video MADE IN HRAVeN...please react to it...his range is incredible in this song...made in heaven refers to how people feel his voice is also talks about his illness "their turning me upside down, looking for possibilities, not to many around" . Insightful reaction!!!!
Freddie was an absolute master of his craft. Singer, song writer piano player and so many more I can not name off hand. Monstie was a brilliant opera singer in her own right. First time I heard this my reaction was very much like yours, like WTF! Thank you for your reaction and you most certainly need to check out "The Golden Boy" and "It's Late" by Queen.
This is a stellar album! There are many goosebump moments on many of the songs. There are videos on youtube where you can hear Freddie making a recording of HIS voice for Montsy to learn the path of her part of the songs! He sings the melody of her part...in her key! He was just amazing!
They shared a love and respect that transcends orientation. He saw her perform and was transfixed. The two of them, along with the magnificence of both of them, is beyond magic. The pairing of two of the most gifted performers is beyond description. They bring tears of amazement and emotion.
I been a fan of Freddie Mercury ,,,Queen since 1977 When I got out of high school ..Im 65 and still love Queen ,,,I collect anything Queen or Freddie Mercury ...
How can I can on, that’s a real.question. She new he would have not long to live after these years with concerts because of his aids illness. So, how can I go on, brings tears in my eyes. Hopefully they do sing, with the Man Upstairs, our Lord. 🙏🏻
Thank you So Much Your Reaction was Spot On ..."What the Freak!", "So Great Unfair" "Divine ", and Yes The Fountain Fulfills Is The Answer and I Believe Freddie Found it🙏✝️❤
I highly recommend that you react to him singing “exercises in free love” he wrote it for Montserrat. It is basically his imitation of her singing style. It’s absolutely beautiful and so hard to believe it’s him singing.
Thank you so much that you are talkingv about this beautiful song!!❤ Sadly Freddie couldn't sing this song Live because on this day he had problems with his voice (it was because of his infection!😢)! The daughter of the great and unforgettabel Opera singer Montserat Capalle said that Freddie adored her and that it was an honor and a big dream of his to sing with her!❤❤ In this wonderful song Freddie shows again what a great voice he had!!He will always be unforgettable!❤❤😢
I literally just got done watching Queens last concert with Freddie and found this gem of a video. We sure lost him too soon😢 Also, this was at the Barcelona Olympics
Ver a estos dos monstruos emociona siempre, siempre por mucho tiempo que pase. Es de lo más hermoso!!!!! Es le le legado de dos estrellas que nunca se apagará su brillo mientras podamos escuchar esta maravilla ❤❤❤❤
I always feel this is about Freddie. How can i go on. He found out he had AIDS in March 87. I also say that The Golden Boy is also Freddie. Read the lyrics. They really respected, admired and loved each other. Freddie was astounded with Montserrat and was actually quite frightened at the thought of writing songs for this most famous Soprano. She also admired Freddie too.....they became great friends. She was in the unveiling ceremony of Freddie's statue too in Montreux, Switzerland in 1996. She has akso passed away now.
I love this performance and at-the-same-time it makes me sad because this particular song is actually quite autobiographical for Freddie: At this time, he was keeping his terminal AIDS diagnosis a secret from almost everybody (including his bandmates; he didn't tell them until 1989). He had confided his secret to Montserrat, though... She had been excited about the prospect of the two of them performing "Barcelona" live together at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, so he told her that he wouldn't be able to perform with her because he would be gone by then.
Thanks, Sebs - this is actually my favorite of their collaborations... I think you will also dig "the Golden Boy".. they were truly, deeply in love... lol
Oh man.... Your words around 4,30 give me chills! Music unites people, that's one thing for sure! Freddie and Queen have been a part of my life for 45 years! And there isn't a day that goes by when I don't listen to Queen or something related like solo albums. But this song... this makes me cry. This is the song that I held on to in the worst days of my life. Everytime I hear this song it feels like he is using my words and it still hurts. I just LOVE watching Queen/Freddie reactions; there are still so much people just now becoming real fans cause they never really listened to Queen/Freddie! Thank you, just thank you! -PS: If you want to listen to the next thing; this is a demo of Freddie for a song for the Barcelona album. He hasn't got the lyrics yet, but he's playing on the paino that is now up for auction at Sotheby's. Freddie is actually singing opera notes, and for me it's one of the most beautiful things Freddie created. ruclips.net/video/00aEhWU5cvQ/видео.html&ab_channel=Krolowa1990
Virtuosity. Melody. Outstanding vocal talent. This is what I find missing in a lot of music today where the emphasis has shifted to the production side of things and more synthesized and techno aspects of the music. I’m not arguing that the new productions do not require talent, it’s just a different type of talent. I am too old school. I just really miss THIS. Thank you Freddie.
I love love your reaction. Yes, they became friends, after Freddie sought her out. I agree: this is getting to be my favorite of all videos of Freddie's singing. Like you, I feel both sad, and grateful that he was here, left too soon, but left us all this beauty. I also agree: this is mystical, almost a religious feeling, as if we are touched by something other-worldly.
Freddie crying out for comfort as his final days approached. These two are magical together. Miss you Freddie and Monserrat ❤❤❤ Yes they truly loved each other and had a strong bond, not only in life but in music as well. They were meant to meet and sing together ❤❤❤❤
Freddie was a huge fan & wanted so bad to duet with her, as it turned out she admired him also & was thrilled, long story short they adored each other both as artists & as friends...❤
Montserrat admired Freddie. Freddie loved Montserrat. Their friendship began in 1987 and they remained close friends. At Freddie's public funeral, Montserrat sang Freddie's favorite aria. Touching for Freddie was Montserrat's holding his hands during their 1988 performance (Freddie already having told her he had AIDs). That was something never done in that era to AIDs patients.
Montserrat Caballé was from Barcelona and is, by some, considered the last of the great soprano divas in opera. She had a mastery of breath control and volume. When Freddie was asked about singing with her, his response was "I love music, and she is music". They became such friends and loved each other through their short time together. You should watch the story of their meeting. She not only attended his funeral, but also the dedication of a statue to him in Switzerland. There is also a street named for her in Barcelona.
Freddie of course is singing from the heart as he always does, he’s a man dying of a disease that, at the time, was a death sentence, knowing that, ‘how can you go on, this song captures his deep, emotional feelings, his struggles, his vulnerability, his feelings of helplessness- hopelessness, his desires, hopes, dreams that now, are no longer attainable, he is at the mercy of something he can not control, he shows that he is filled with anxiety along with fear of judgement, he is looking for someone to take care of him, to comfort him, and the feelings that he needs divine intervention, It is a cry for help, guidance, he is desperately searching for meaning, in the middle of his overwhelming sadness that he is faced with regarding his existence. He is scared, lonely, sad, he is looking for and needs true love to take him thru this, which of course, I think he received at the end, with a few very loyal, supportive, real true friends, that truly cared and loved him, they stood by his side until he took his last breath ❤ (Mary, Roger, Brian,John and his personal assistant, Peter Freestone) I also think that most of the love songs he sings - are for Mary and what could have been.
In my opinion Freddie Mercury is the best singer that ever lived he truly was a legend he had an incredible career and he loved every minute of it and that's what matters
If you want to.know how much Freddie loved Montserrat read the words to the song Barcelona. It's not about the city, it's about Freddie meeting Montsy for the first time in Barcelona "I had this perfect dream. This dream was me and you. I want all the World to.hear you. Miracle sensation, my guide and inspiration" Freddie heard Montsy at Convent Garden and said she was the most beautiful thing he'd ever heard and that the whole World deserved to hear her, so he made it happen. But it was years later. Off stsge Freddie was actually very shy, and he thought this famous opera diva would never want to sing with him. Fortunately, her kids were Queen fans and in a Spainish radio interview Freddie was asked what he liked most about Spain and he answered Montserrat Caballe, and the rest is history. They actually became very close friends and you only have to see how Montsy looks at Freddie when they sing together, to see how much she loved him.
. . .and tho' this is a solo project of Freddie, he has Queen brother, John Deacon on Bass. That is mesmerising to me...Deaky so perfectly perfect with Freddie. Tears. BTW where are your headphones???? To me, Freddie's lyrics invite us to him contemplating how he will be able to make it through to what befalls him - his passing...he now knows he has Aids, in fact has discussed with Montserrat cause she wanted him to sing Barcelona with her in 1992's Olympic opening. He, of course, made her supposedly one of the very 1st persons he confided his condition to...and didn't tell others till years later. Told her he wouldn't be around to be with us in '92..
Totally agree, he wrote as much as he could before he died , l still can't listen to those are the days of our lives without crying , the video just does it when he looks and winks at the end. We have lost the most precious person in our lifetime who had an unique ability to perform in the way he does, l still say the best concert after live aid was his last one at Knebworth Park, August 1986 , l was there . Sheer magic , there will be no long like Freddie Mercury
When Freddie found out he was HIV+, back then they had no treatment or anything. It was 100% fatal and he knew it. He didn't tell ANYONE, including his Queen band members. From biographies I have seen, including interviews with guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor, he had SO many things he wanted to do and when he got the diagnosis, he set out to achieve everything he could. Writing and singing an actual opera was one of them and this is it. He had already done a 7+ minute "opera" with Bohemian Rhapsody, from my understanding he simply started writing and recording everything he could. I COMPLETELY AGREE that with more people like Freddie who just wanted to make music, make people happy and bring joy with his music, forget record labels and whatever is "trending" now, this world would be a better place. You saw Queen perform at Live Aid, arguably the greatest performance of the ENTIRE WEEKEND was Queen. Considering your love for Freddie, I strongly suggest you watch, even if it's for yourself, No One But You/ Only The Good Die Young written by guitarist Brian May. Grab a tissue!
It's plainly about a lost love that seemed so perfect and now is gone. lyrically SO driven home by the music accented so well by these 2vocalists who are the tops in their fields yet they blend in driving the emotion of the song. Makes a grown man, like myself, cry.
Freddie ofcourse has a voice of his own, unique, but never forget the operatic singing from Montserrat. It was so sad ofcourse poor Freddie died so young aged 45, 1991. Also Montserrat died sadly in 2018. Such beautiful voices from the two of them, & also very different. 💖💖
This is the best you’ve heard Freddie sing, until you hear them do “The Golden Boy “, he takes it to the next level. Trust your Queenies on this one! Enjoy
The man was dying and he still managed to keep is voice strong. He was fantastic live, i had the pleasure to see Queen live at the end of the Magic Tour, his very last live performance with Queen. He would have been feeling the effects of his condition but there were no clues. He was the same performer he had always been, full of energy. He really is a legend, sadly missed, always remembered 💙
They loved each other best of friends
Absolutamente irreal,es como escuchar musica del cielo!!!
Great reaction. Freddie and Montserrat adored each other. Montserrat was one of the few people Freddie told that he was dying of aids. During this performance Montserrat noticed that there were tears in his eyes, so she moved closer and held his hand. If you want more listen to them singing Golden Boy.
They are special together. ❣️
Yes. The Golden Boy please.
Absolutely stunning performance!!
He didn't need to tell her. She knew what the mark on his face meant. He was openly walking around with it on show in early 1987, and she told him he needed to cover it up.
She said everytime she saw Freddie she treated it like it was going to be the last time
That really did love each other, utterly Amazing, jut the best, take care.
She was Freddie's favorite singer/performer!!! Listen to their version of BARCELONA!!!
Yes, that's RIGHT... She said he was realizing that this would be his last time performing onstage and this was like his "goodbye" to live performing.
@@DemokratiedesProletariatsyou can see If you look at him. But ist doesn't care. He sang it. Ist's his voice, his power, bis love.

Beautifully written. What an awesome tribute to the one and only Freddie. 💖
@@Ann-st8et…to them both now ….we lost Montsy too.😓🏴🇬🇧
Of course! Who wouldn't be moved to tears, I still find it devastating that his voice was silenced too soon. 🫂🥺❤
100% feel this. Been listening to him my entire 49 years. He will be forever remembered and missed❤💔
It gave me chills! Freddie was a true master of his art.
Freddie saw Montserrat sing and said she had the most beautiful voice in the world. He invited her to sing and there started a mutual love. She was devastated by his death...😢
Yes😢 But they are together now in heaven, I believe. But God I miss her 🥺🖤
Music speaks to and comes from the soul! I agree that the world would be a better place if they were both still here!
Everyone was. And is to this day. Freddie can never be replicated, and was an international treasure.
Freddie and Monsterat became very close friends. She one said in an interview, “ he loved me very much and I loved him too”. Please check out “The Golden Boy “ from this same album, it will knock your socks off, I promise
I miss Freddie so much. These videos always make me emotional. He was such a gifted vocalist and songwriter. An enduring talent that will never fade.
Maestro’s Mercury & Montserrat ❤ the most beautiful love affair in music for life 😢

My brother had me listen to this the first time. He passed 18 months ago..
So I treasure this and many more Freddie songs😢
Awww man, sorry about your brother!! 🙏🏻
This is the first time I've ever heard this and it gave me goosebumps! There's also a sense of deep sadness.
This performance is mesmerizing. Perfection!

They had great admiration one to another. She was one of best soprano voices ever with voice control out of this worl.
Amazing song❤️
This my favorite from the concert. ❤it makes me cry everytime I hear it.
Thank you for a great reaction...apparently after Freddie died, rock stars queued up to sing with Montsy....her reply was...”no, only Freddie”🤩
They had a genuine love and respect for each other I expect heaven is rocking as Freddie teaching the angels how to sing Freddie style

Perfection in every way ❤❤❤❤
How can I can on, that’s a real.question. She new he would have not long to live after these years with concerts because of his aids illness. So, how can I go on, brings tears in my eyes. Hopefully they do sing, with the Man Upstairs, our Lord. 🙏🏻
Indeed they do. 🌈💙👑🫶
Right! Freddie and Montserrat, were wonderful together! She loved him as much as he did her!
Heard her voice once and had to meet her ❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much that you are talkingv about this beautiful song!!❤ Sadly Freddie couldn't sing this song Live because on this day he had problems with his voice (it was because of his infection!😢)!
Truly amazing,.Best vocals of all timeLove and miss this extrodinary talent
Thanks Sebs for this program is a gift... Freddie the King... the most beautiful voice I've heard...
I literally just got done watching Queens last concert with Freddie and found this gem of a video. We sure lost him too soon😢
Also, this was at the Barcelona Olympics
I always feel this is about Freddie. How can i go on. He found out he had AIDS in March 87. I also say that The Golden Boy is also Freddie. Read the lyrics. They really respected, admired and loved each other. Freddie was astounded with Montserrat and was actually quite frightened at the thought of writing songs for this most famous Soprano. She also admired Freddie too.....they became great friends. She was in the unveiling ceremony of Freddie's statue too in Montreux, Switzerland in 1996. She has akso passed away now.
💔💔
Freddie was very ill and still singing strong and powerfull This song makes me cry.
Well Freddie wrote the song, no doubts he put his emotions about his condition in it
@@erdave2309 🙏🏻
I like the way she as teasing him at the beginning of the song.
Freddie Mercury was and will ALWAYS be the GOAT!!!!!!!!!!
Never heard this before. Wow this was awesome!

Virtuosity.
So amazing ❤ so beautiful 😊 thanks for your reaction 😊
Freddie crying out for comfort as his final days approached. These two are magical together. Miss you Freddie and Monserrat ❤❤❤ Yes they truly loved each other and had a strong bond, not only in life but in music as well. They were meant to meet and sing together ❤❤❤❤
Freddie was a huge fan & wanted so bad to duet with her, as it turned out she admired him also & was thrilled, long story short they adored each other both as artists & as friends...❤
You are absolutely right. The world would be a better place with Freddie in it. It almost brought me to tears to watch your expressions. Beautiful!
Freddy was ill 😢 and hiding all his pain, this song with all words meanning was so strong in the same time, Freddy the GOAT ❤❤❤❤❤
They both loved and adored each other, so much respect for one another. He was dying when he did this.
True....but we are all dying at every moment of our lives, linda...
Que puedo decir, es unas de las canciones de Freddie Mercury que mas me encantan, ¡¡¡por no decir la MEJOR!!!
Freddie was ill here & she knew it! You must listen to Golden Boy!!🎼❤️🎼🇬🇧
FREDDIE MIXED HIS POP ROCK WITH OPERA 🎉❤ I LOVED THESE TWO I HAVE THEIR CD TRULY A BLESSING
If you want to.know how much Freddie loved Montserrat read the words to the song Barcelona. It's not about the city, it's about Freddie meeting Montsy for the first time in Barcelona
"I had this perfect dream.
This dream was me and you.
I want all the World to.hear you.
Miracle sensation, my guide and inspiration"
Freddie heard Montsy at Convent Garden and said she was the most beautiful thing he'd ever heard and that the whole World deserved to hear her, so he made it happen.
WOW!!!JUST WOW.
You need to also do Golden Boy. Freddie’s brilliant fusion of opera with rock/soul/gospel.
Two angels singing together in heaven now
🌹❤️RIP❤️🌹
. . .and tho' this is a solo project of Freddie, he has Queen brother, John Deacon on Bass.
😢
Totally agree, he wrote as much as he could before he died , l still can't listen to those are the days of our lives without crying , the video just does it when he looks and winks at the end. We have lost the most precious person in our lifetime who had an unique ability to perform in the way he does, l still say the best concert after live aid was his last one at Knebworth Park, August 1986 , l was there . Sheer magic , there will be no long like Freddie Mercury
Try listening to Freddie singing exercises in free love. 😀
Grab a tissue!
the greatest voice of all time❤
freddie mercury
Enjoy
Fantastic couple 😢😢😢 Freddie eternal... still miss and love Freddie...
Freddie will never die in the hearts of those of us who adore him! No one sings like Freddie! He puts his heart in every song and it is magical!
I think Freddie loved “Motsy”, And she loved him. They had a great respect for each other.
always brings lovely emotions
You should watch joint interview done right before this performance for truth of the perfection between them.He loved her&wrote this for them to do.
