  • Last weekend Ben and I backpacked into the Colorado backcountry to do some camping and alpine lake fishing for trout. The lake we ended up at was Woodland lake which is almost 6 miles in and 2000ft up from the parking lot. The hike is pretty difficult and was definitely made harder by the close to 50lbs of gear on my back. I was using my 12ft tenkaraUSA rod and using a ishigaki kebari or elk hair caddis to catch these high mountain cutthroats and cutbows. Unfortunately this was probably the last good weekend for doing comfortable camping at that sort of elevation (almost 11000ft) as the temoeratures are dropping and the weather is getting more unpredictable this time of year. I hope you enjoy the video or it helps you get an idea of the lake if you are going to make the trip as well.
    Thanks for watching! Stay Gone!
