Commentary by Levy is Amazing. Just watching Levy explain exactly the rest of the game at 13:33 I realized Levy really is the best commentator I've ever seen, read, or heard in the Highest Levels of Chess
That's the thing with him. It's always his prime. Its like he was born that way and has never had a slump(except very few tournaments here and there). You can see why he is the literal God of Chess.
@@v.k.sharma9240His peak still has to come in 2025 to 2027. Probably, I say this because of studies on mental strength and mental gymnastics and looking at chess players and their primes. Magnus will stay like he is now and every so slightly improve probably fora while to come, until he is 45, look at Kasparov and Anand. Both of them way out of their prime but still going, but both of them had time off, Magnus is going and will keep going.
The fact that his opponents were playing extremely well and he still destroyed them. The eval bar wasn’t moving but Magnus saw it all, even further than the engine 😂
That's what I imply in my comment. Magnus is seeing things the engine doesn't really care about. positional moves that push his opponents outside their comfort zone etc. He slowly pushed them into a position where they were almost guaranteed to make a mistake.@@Davinmk
um no not really. the eval bar started moving down not because the eval bar failed to see ahead, but because magnus's opponent failed to play perfect moves.
Magnus also often played 2nd or 3rd best moves. But he played them in such a way to put pressure on his opponents. The perfect move isn't always the best move because of this. More tense positions allow the better player to outplay their opponent where stockfish would evaluate it a draw, no matter the flavor of the position. Magnus is a master at bringing games to positions where he can pressure his opponent without playing suboptimal moves. That is why he was world champ for so long.@@ade8890
Good lord almighty, been following chess since late 60s, lived through and loved the whole Bobby Fischer era, but Magnus seems to be on a different plane -this guy is something we've never seen before, I'm grateful to be around to see this.
Normal person: Wow, hes got more than twice as much time Levi: His time advantage is bigger than the amount of time that Fabiano has left on the clock! :0
*I think one of the things that really separates Magnus from even the remaining Top 10, is his willingness to deviate from theory.* I understand why in a quick game against lethal opponents, that can be fatal. But with such a superior and quick mind for the game, throwing your opponent into uncharted territory is arguably one of the best tools in any battle.
Maybe I never noticed before but I love that the chess board changed colors when you were discussing theory and changed back when we were back in the game. Makes it easier for me to follow.
Been following Magnus' career since the 2013 Candidates. I can honestly say that I haven't seen domination like this from him in a very long time. Effortless really is the word. The man is so in tune with the game it's actually touchingly beautiful to watch sometimes.
10:46 i watched agadmator's video here, and to add a little bit of context because it wasnt explained here, Caruana's g3 was literally the decider of the game and the reason why he lost because of how magnus capitalized on it (Depth 45 stockfish says to sac the f4 pawn instead and let the game continue)
2:55 Granted, I'm neither Stockfish nor a super gm, but I think Ng5 (which correct me if I'm wrong but it kind of looks like a transposition into a Fried Liver) looks extremely promising. For starters, Black can do one of four things (technically six). Three of them (technically five) do not protect the f7 pawn unless black just wants to lose a Queen or a Rook with the pawn for two minor pieces, and two of black's options (including the one that does protect the f7 pawn and three if you count Rg8), are absolutely horrible. Black can move the Queen (Qd7 or Qe7), the Rook (preferably to f8 because Rg8 just loses the Rook to Bxf7), Bishop to e6, or just ignore the threat entirely and promptly lose the Rook to Nf7 (this last one would probably be seen at least seven times out of ten if you handed the players of Guess the Elo this position, and at least another two times out of ten the other player would miss it). Be6 is horrible because of Ne6.
I can assure you the two pieces for the rook and pawn will be better for black, specially since the a1 rook is useless and white lost time on his whole operation
Hey Levi! Responding to your Rat question. The New York rats are actually Norwegian Rats, Rattus norvegicus. They're a widespread species (everywhere but Antarctica) and can get to a bit under a foot long. Interestingly, its thought that they aren't originally from Norway, but rather China.
I thought maybe you were joking, but it checks out. You learn something new every day It is not known for certain why the brown rat is named Rattus norvegicus (Norwegian rat), as it did not originate from Norway. However, the English naturalist John Berkenhout, author of the 1769 book Outlines of the Natural History of Great Britain, is most likely responsible for popularizing the misnomer.[7] Berkenhout gave the brown rat the binomial name Rattus norvegicus, believing it had migrated to England from Norwegian ships in 1728.[8]
