oh, to be young and not know about white supremacy!
The music theory text books mostly contain germany, russian, italian classical composers for a reason. There is a long history of whiye supremacy and music theory. Classical was the pop of its time, and there were plenty of uninspired composers who made lazy music.

Bonus fact: Beethoven published his Sonata no. 14, op. 27 no. 2 as "Sonata quasi una Fantasia per il Clavicembalo o Piano-Forte", because it has a more free form than a sonata. The famous first movement is slow and doesn't follow the traditional sonata form.
Only a few years after Beethoven's death, the author Ludwig Rellstab called the piece "Moonlight Sonata", because he was reminded of a boat excursion on the Vierwaldstätter See, a lake in Switzerland.

"when people say classical music is boring"
Oh boy, this video is gonna be good.
Honestly, if you asked me 5 years ago about what I thought about classical music, I would've said it was boring. Probably because I was a jazz musician. I didn't play or listen to classical music much at all. If you ask me now about classical music, I would definitely not hesitate to say that I love it. I'm glad I fell in love with classical music.
I was in a similar boat a few years ago. The first piece I actively listened to was The Planets, which was 3 years ago. Although I did not have hard feelings towards classical music then, I knew next to nothing about it. But over the past year, thanks in part to TwoSet, I can safely say that classical music is my favorite "genre" for the time being.
BTW, I found The Planets cuz, in my HS orchestra at the time, we were playing the 4th movement to Mozart's Jupiter Symphony. By happenstance, I came across Holst's Jupiter on RUclips.
@@neeltheother2342 I had Jupiter and Mars from The Planets Suite in band when I was in high school. I listened to the whole suite, and I loved it.
Because I was in a band, I didn't play much classical music. Now that I'm in college and in a orchestra, I've come to love and appreciate classical music. And it's definitely my favorite genre as well with jazz following behind it as second.
I've tried to get more into classical music. I respect the craft and talent involved in creating classical music, but I don't like going to concerts that requires me to wear formal clothing and has strict rules for proper etiquette.
lol check out Ravel, Debussy, Scriabin, and Messiaen if you haven’t already. Loads of harmonies that jazz borrowed and the latter two make use of some pretty crazy rhythms as well, especially Messiaen. There’s also Nikolai Kapustin who just borrowed the jazz language and put them into strict classical forms for his compositions. I can give some recommendations if you want.
jazz musicians are funny because they're always saying they invented syncopated rhythms and odd times. I dance to Eastern European music that's been around for over 200 yrs...and it's syncopated rhythms and odd times. cheers!
Wait No one comments about the 4M?I vote for Brahms violin concerto

"Classical music is boring"
The people who say that are the ones who have only ever heard the first two bars of Fur Elise and absolutely nothing else.
That or they've only listened to Canon in D
I wish lol. I mean, I've listened to a fair amount of classical music, both live and recorded. And it is still boring in the majority of cases... only the most intense stuff can get through to me, like Mozart's Requiem, Rachmaninov's 2nd piano concerto and the like.
The problem I have is the local radio station that plays classical. They play a bunch of chamber music that they think "fancy" stores will play as background music. It makes people think all classical sounds like that.
@@a.hollins8691 I'm sure they dont all have LingLings to play Caprice 24 for them ! But they could try ... I agree.

Eddy's laugh is the cutest thing ever.
The "classical music is boring" is so relatable - in fact I can recall back in Year 7 (UK's school year/grade for 11- to 12-year-olds) a guy coming up to me, us having a conversation, getting somehow to classical music and him saying those exact words, verbatim. He kept trying to push me towards jazz, which is part of the reason I had an automatic aversion to jazz piano back then. Also, he had the audacity to declare that classical musicians can't improvise - I didn't know as much about the history of classical music and improvisation back then (such as Beethoven's mad skills) but in hindsight that was one of the most ignorant statements he could have made because it showed how utterly clueless he was about classical music.
There is a difference between choosing to listen to classical over jazz because you prefer jazz, and dissing the entirety of the classical music genre without devoting some time listening to it. Even now, I am not the biggest fan of most pop music, but that does not mean I would not listen to anyone's recommendation; not to mention I have grown into some bands such as Coldplay, as well as select works by other artists.
That guy helped turn me off jazz for the next few years, but even though I still wouldn't normally listen to jazz (no longer because of that guy, but simply because I prefer classical) I do love a good bit of Kapustin!
If you want to get a really good introduction to what Kapustin can do, check out his Eight Concert Etudes op 40 and his Variations op 41. The theme of the Variations is an almost-identical quotation of the bassoon solo from the beginning of the Rite of Spring, but the two pieces couldn't be more different. Personally, he is one of the greatest piano composers for modern listeners because his pieces are
1. Fun to play for both classical and jazz pianists, since often they are a fusion, and
2. Catchy to listen to, for non musicians as well.
Sorry for the terribly long message, I just had a lot to say about this subject haha
Also, "you can't sleep to Mahler"? I beg to differ - Mahler 5 movement 4, Mahler 3 movement 6?
nah, I won't be able to sleep because it's way too emotional
One time I was preforming my first solo for my family and my brother had the AUDACITY to tell me he hated classical music and that it was boring. I was this close to wacking him with my bow.

ZH Chee I wish but I’m a violist lmao
Why waste a perfectly good bow, violins are expensive man
I'm fine with people have their opinions and preferences but people don't have to be rude or make stereotypes like that. Especially knowing people like it. They wouldn't like it if people bash their interests, so it's double standards too. Saying classical is boring is also saying a stereotype that classical music is only soft. And even if something is soft it's useful like to help relax people or put people to sleep. Your brother should be supportive of you.

This is EXCITING, this keeps me wide awake!"

When people say they don't like classical music because they only listened to one composer being Mozart. That's like saying I don't like rap because I only listened to Eminem.

Fr bruh, people don’t understand classical music anymore
5:35 HAHAHA THAT BGM
One of my best friends was trying to get into classical. He told me how Spotify classical is boring, and he asked me what he should try. Now he's a Beethoven and Dvorak junkie. Couldn't get him into chamber music, unfortunately. One of these days!
whenever someone say classical music is boring, I will turn up the speaker, and play Tchaikovsky's symphony 4 mov 4, tuba will teach their ears a valuable lesson
people: classicsl music is boring

@@maite_0914 that's so cool, you did an awesome job! As for the joke, since canadians are sometimes made fun of for stereotypically saying "eh", watching them do the same, I was just like 👁👄👁lol
