Hi guys! Waiting to see what fixes it. I have an idea what it is, but curious if it's the same thing that was wrong with mine. Someone mentioned the CPS. Nope. If the CPS fails you get no fuel pump power, no injector pulses and no spark. This engine is clearly firing.
hornhospital Thank you for mentioning this! Today I am going to spend some time working on it. Admittedly, we have taken a little break to do some traveling. But time to get back to filming! We really appreciate your input. I’m thinking it is an air leak. The day that it stopped working, we took it for a drive and I drove it faster than I ever have. I’m wondering if maybe that caused something to loosen up. Today I will try to spit some vapor into the air box to see if I can locate a leak.
hornhospital No air leak unfortunately. So now I am stumped. I am thinking I need to inspect the spark plugs next. Even though it’s only been a year since I replaced them.
hexdude24 hi there. Yes. Just pull it up really hard and it will pop out. It is suctioned in so it is hard to remove the first time. Please wear safety glasses and you can pull your fuse pump fuse (I think #11), start your car and let it die, this will prevent it from spraying when you pull it out. I did not do that and it did not spray, but just an extra precaution. Safety glasses are a must though just in case. Don’t be scared to pull it. Also, note that there will be a small rubber ring (gasket) that might get stuck in the hole when you pull the FPR out, so just pluck it out and put it back on the FPR. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have further questions.
@@hexdude24 I am currently having the same issue, did you ever find out what caused it? So far I’ve seen people mention the fuel pressure regulator, cold start valve/injector, and injectors that may be loose
Braeden Faludi Sorry to hear about your problem. This is Part 2 of a series. Part 3 should solve your issue. If not, watch the video right after the the easiest and cheapest way to find an air leak. If that does not work, watch part 1... your car will be fixed if you follow this order. 😉. Thanks for watching!
Hey guys! So my e30 idles rough and sounds like it’s on 3 cylinders but once I rev it and get driving it’s completely find with full power to the car and when I stop at a traffic light it idles fine for about 1min then back to crappy idle...what would you suggest I start looking at ? Btw great videos I just need helping on where to start looking
Thank you for watching. Clean the Idle Control Valve. Make sure that when you shake it you can hear the flap moving around. Next, clean the throttle body. If it’s not fixed, check our air leak video, it has the easiest way to check for an air leak ever. You might need to adjust your throttle screw ever so slightly (Part 3 shows how to do this). If none of this works, I have a few more ideas. But I feel like the mentioned steps will solve it. Don’t hesitate to keep reaching out here, we’ll help you get your car going smooth.
@@BimmerGarage thank you so much!! It’s a 1.6 idk if that changed anything from the suggested ?😬 I’ll try what you said and keep you updated thatnks again!
That looks you may need a new air flow meter or I would check the air flow meter pig tail connection pull the boot off to check for loose wires. I would do that first.
i_are_hernan_ Thank you for watching! We have more e30 content coming soon! Hope you get yours and don’t hesitate to ask questions if any issues come up with your upcoming purchase.
Valley Livin May have to do that next. We were driving it fine when it started to die and we barely made it home. It seems fuel related, but we are getting to the point where sparks will probably need to be changed next.
You didn't check the actual fuel pressure. Changing the fuel pressure regulator (FPR) only guarantees that the ump will try to maintain a 43.5 / 3 BAR fuel pressure. remove back seat. remove oval fuel pump/level sensor cover. Test the fuel pump wires for 12V by turning on the ignition and trying to crank the engine. you should hear a buzzing sound. if it still fails to stay running you might have vacuum leak. the best way to find this is with smoke.
St. Clair Allen Thanks for watching! We ended up finding out the issue. Check out our part 3, also, we just made a video on detecting a vacuum leak practically for free.
Miggy_B I think we figured it out. Just got back into town. Doing one more quick swap and will get back to you in 24 hrs. Hopefully we will have a new vid out this weekend on the car.
Bought an e30 yesterday, drove it 7 hours back, died out twice as if i ran out of gas, pulled over, waited a minute or two and started back up fine, then i got home finally parked it over night and went to start it this morning and its just cranking . any ideas?
Cuhsp Try the fuel pump fuse #11 I believe. Then check the fuel pump relay. Then pull a hose from the fuel pressure regulator. The thicker return hose, see if it is dry, if so replace the fuel pressure regulator. If it’s not, change fuel pump. That should fix it.
Nice video man! Good to see you back at it!
My man, great video. u should also do comparison between cars, your thoughts, etc.
Awesome video brother thank you so much for sharing. Really helpful
I was so worried for hes beer 😱. If that hood would decide to come down with all that wind 😥

Nice keep it coming
Our fuel pressure regulator seems to be stuck. You didn't show any difficulty removing yours. Do you just snatch it?

By the way, the FPR rarely fails, I should have mentioned that in this vid.
@@BimmerGarage I'm getting gas in the intake manifold when I try to crank. Best I could find is bad diaphragm in the PR. Gas getting sucked in.

my e30 will start, then immediately stall, and I have to keep revving it. if I hold the pedal down, it just slowly dies
