The daughter that they were fighting for custody of was already 8 years old. By the time a child is 12, the court allows them to choose who they wish to live with. So this woman snuffed out a very bright man who went to school for 15 years to become a physician, simply for a few years of control over her daughter's life. Horrible. Not to mention all of the patients that never got to be helped by this wonderful man.

Divorced or Divorcing people are irrational about their kids. Kids usually love both of their parents equally, but if one parent tries to keep the other parent from seeing their child or children, the kids will always remember the meanness and lack of understanding of that parent. Kids soon grow up, and they will often feel hate for the parent who deprived them of the other parent. That happened to me when I was a child, so I know.
