Great Find 🙂 Another slept on point and shoot camera is the Chinon Auto 3001 Multi Focus...Simply love love love this camera 🙂 If you see on scoop it 🙂 You won't regret it 🙂Also my new favorite pocketable rangefinder is the Zeiss Ikon S310...another great find...gotta stop watching your thrift shows LOL I keep buying stuff like these two cameras LOL 🙂
Got one of those for 4.99, was thinking of selling it for like $20, but then realized photos were great, and aaw them being posted for like $125, soo i was like nope! This one's staying here haha.
Yeah you got a great deal…Got mine for $30 from a local thrift store…it was in perfect condition…grabbed it with the quickness as I thought they miss-priced it and couldn’t believe it was on the shelf for that price 😁
That MC rips! Taking a risk on a MC10 from eBay 🤞 I have a Nikon OneTouch that was thrifted for $15 that's pretty solid, but other than that it's the F3 for meee 😁 Great to hang with you in NYC!
Bought mine about a year and a half ago. Absolutely love it! But its also like being in a toxic relationship the way unfortunately mine has been prone to issues and failures.
I prefer the XA2 just because it's way less prone to failing. No AF motor, no auto winder, the electronics just control the meter/shutter. A lot of my favorite pictures I've taken were on the XA2, once you understand the zone focus system it's pretty hard to miss a shot. It's definitely limited especially when it comes to close focusing, and the light touch shutter button feels weird and kind of unsatisfying despite its benefits reducing potential camera shake, but it's a lot more reliable than most AF point and shoots imo.
i own both cameras, the XA2 failed on me after 4 years of usage, just stopped turning on and firing, haven't been able to find anyone repairing it yet! the canon so far is super reliable and the lens is quite sharper in my experience (also f2.8 instead of 3.5), love both cameras!
I've just sent my first rolls with one of these to the lab but unfortunately the winding motor is already failing on me - and this one was in such good condition too! I've ordered a broken one for £10 to use it as a test unit for repairing but I don't have high hopes - the brutal truth is that a lot of these smaller fully auto cameras are dropping like flies as they get picked up again for the first time in decades! I bought mine knowing it had a reputation of dying though - so made sure it was in great condition as a shelf piece if I can 't fix it!
UPDATE: I couldn't fix it - after seeing the inside of this thing and discovering just how complex it was, the wind motors for cameras like this tend to be placed inside the drum that rolls the film - making them close to the very last thing you can get to! I ended up finally getting hold of a Fuji Klasse W on home soil without the Japan tax - I know it's still being repaired and modded which is handy and it's a total workhorse I do miss the MC a lot though - something about both the stark features and the body made it such fun for carefree pocket shots
Great review. Nearly all point and shoot cameras of a certain quality can achieve similar results. Contax is 80% celebrity hype. This canon MC is just as good.
I've tried for a few years now to get a good deal on a working one of these. They always are broken or break on me very quickly :( otherwise I love em and love the design of the body and the flash attachment its so smooth and seamless.
Valid, I got a stylus epic zoom 115 and the first roll I really didn't like it that much but after shooting a few rolls I gotta say, the images are sharp as hell for a zoom lens and I've taken some of my favorite pictures I've ever had with it. AND ITS WEATHER RESISTANT
@@eatenbyopium I need to get a prime, been using this one cause my gf gave it to me, she got it at the goodwill for a $1 last year. Didn't work at first so I banged it on a table a few times (I mean it was broken anyway lol) and it started working again haha. But the flash is broken sadly so if I ever stumble across a prime lens for a good price I plan on picking one up
@@KingJvpes Canon MC10! My parents used to have it when I was a kid and was able to buy the MC10 and the MC together for 100 euros a couple of months ago :)
You had to of taken a shot or two with your finger over part of that lens.. You touched or came very close to touching it many times during this video lol.
Always wanted to try one of these. One of these days. I think another nice “clam shell” camera that is typically overlooked is the Pentax pc35af. It actually looks really cool, has a built in flash, and has a spring loaded shell opening mechanism and flash pop up. It’s an awesome camera.
Drop a like if you enjoyed this review!! Also comment down below your sleep point and shoots 👀👇🏼
Integrating the film advance sound with the beat was pretty cool! Great vid and shots!
Glad you like it!!
I’m sold on this thing. Been searching for an xa for a while but now I’ll keep an eye out for this one too! 😮❤

I couldn’t get over the shutter.. it’s a small thing but it just didn’t feel right.

Good shout. Feel like I might give it a go... ok yep, bought. :-)
I love the 80's square design on this thing. I have one that needs new battery connectors as they had a leaked battery.
HOW THE HELL DID I MISS THIS ??????? lol
that NYC event was fun!
Damn this makes me wanna pick one up!
those outdoor night shots were impressive for such a point & shoot film camera
looks like a super fun event! Jvpes, Trevor Wisecup, Caleb Knueven, David Imel, Chris Chu...

@@samtanner236 the primes are the best versions of the stylus. lens is A1 f2.8 never misses focus sharp as can be and exposure is always on point.
