He was charged with "destruction and concealment with the intent to decieve a federal investigation". The maximum sentence was 20 years, but he got it reduced to 6 months on a plea deal.
He told the investigation that he had no idea about the location of the crash site whilst simultaneously visiting it to collect camera footage and dispose of the wreckage. He also lied about the cause of the crash.
If he had just admitted it was a stunt, he may have just got a reckless endangerment misdemeanor for the potential wildfire risk and got like 90 days in jail and a small fine. Whereas now he is a felon and massively risked his entire future.
6 months jail time in an American prison has to be the ultimate adrenaline rush 🙄🤦🏻

He had no priors, it was a tiny plane, so 6 months in jail looks pretty reasonable. up to 20 years, was for cases where there were consequences like property damage or life losses, or if had used a stolen plane or a big plane. Not at all a white guy sentence as you wrote on your racist comment.
