    Because of its arrogance and its "pretentious mad scientist" side, Nvidia risks experiencing the same fate as Apple in China.

      There is a fundamental difference between NV and Apple. NV's graphics cards are not as big as Apple's ecosystem, and they are not NV's main source of revenue. NV mainly relies on computing cards, but China cannot buy high-end ones, and does not need low-end ones. Its customers are all enterprises, far away from ordinary consumers.

    How come NVIDIA doesn't turn to India after being expelled from China? Doesn't India claim it has its own "Silicon Valley"?

    NVIDIA is too easily replaced by other products, so it faces two choices: compromise or exit. Who is next?

    Chip war is only benefitting Chinese domestic semiconductor companies. They are advancing rapidly. China export $138 billion semiconductor in 2024. Huawei and xiami have designed 3 nm chip with domestic EDA. SMIC is manufacturing 7nm and 5nm chips. Other chinese chip related companies are not disclosing much about their advancement.

      5nm is not done yet, 7nm n+3 now

      @MrHunzi China doesn't reveal much about it's advancement in semiconductor. I think Chinese government want full domestic supply chain before revealing it's advancement

    In my opinion, NVIDIA will end up in China, under a different name obviously, but at the end of all miseries you'll return to your home country.
    People with character all do, after all it's almost impossible to be happy in a non birth place. Regardless how much money you got or how many booklets been issued to you which are called Passports.

    The reason is very simple,

      Nvidia and Huang Renxun are both from the United States, and it is the United States that nurtured them. If the Chinese need their own chip companies, they can support Huawei, SMIC, etc.

    I'm not sure why you titled it 'Nvidia May Exit China' when it's clear that 16% of Nvidia's revenue comes from China, second only to the U.S. Additionally, a Chinese think tank advises data centers to stick with Nvidia's AI GPUs, as local Chinese GPUs are more expensive and complex to engineer. Nvidia is also increasing hiring in China to focus on AI-driven cars.
    The only way Nvidia would exit China is if the Chinese government completely bans them.

      @MrHunzi  18 часов назад +2

      If Trump escalates the technology war, most of NV's products will not be sold in China, and it will only lose money if it maintains operations in China. The Chinese government does not need to ban it, it will leave on its own. In addition, doing business with Chinese companies will have political risks, and Huang Renxun may take the initiative to cut off trade. Of course, all this depends on the attitude of the US government, but it is difficult for Trump to predict.

      16% of Nvidia's revenue comes from China, so leaving would be financially damaging. Companies don't usually abandon such a large revenue stream without a strong reason.
      While geopolitical risks exist, the financial and strategic benefits of staying in China outweigh the costs of leaving. Nvidia's investment and reliance on the Chinese market, along with high demand for their technology, make a complete withdrawal unlikely unless forced by extreme government action.
