D L. Indeed yes. The utter lies of Matt Hancock in saying “We put a circle around the care homes in early Feb...”
Without mentioning “And we sent old people WITH covid, back to their care home where the virus was passed on..ERGO, thousands of old people caught it un-necessarily and died.” I LOATHE this government and Boris as its head.

Yes, here in Australia too there have been cases in care homes and they would have been the one place that could have been locked down properly. There should have been no cases in care homes.

This is what happens when you put humility, honesty, commitment, service and public care before media spin and party political intrenchments.
Our weak "political leaders" and "political class" should watch this interview and be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

I have pride for you. I'm in USA and have never seen a care facility that seems so like a home and not just a "facility." Perhaps that is the difference, the employees don't just show up and punch the time clock. And the environment of the place makes a big difference. A homey place vs a corporate owned facility where budget and care given must meet a bottom line. My dad was in a "Rehab" center/"nursing home" after breaking his hip. Most depressing place. Waiting 10 minutes for staff to answer a call light. No regular showers or bed linen changes funless I pinned down the staff, or changed the bed myself. Having to track down staff for fresh towels and fresh ice water. As a nurse I found this truly deplorable.

This happens when people don't think about profit, they don't think about themselves and do as much as they can for the others.😇😃
Not even a single case is a very big achievement in itself. It proves that there's a way to control the spread if there is a will.
Things would have been very different if he would have decided to fill up the space with residents then, the staff would have to go home everyday, that would have given him more money but not safety of residents. He chose the latter and that's what has made all the difference.

I often stay late to finish a job and don't bother putting the hours on my time sheet, because overtime isn't available and if I'm enjoying the job, it's enough of a reward in itself. You might think that's silly, but only because you've not had a job which you enjoy enough to do for love, rather than money.

@Dr. John Campbell, 54 days is remarkable for anyone, let's take a moment to think of our transportation driver's. Here in the States it is not uncommon for a driver to stay out on the road for 60 days before getting home time. Most all of the duty day, 14 hours pre-covid and unlimited(hours of service suspended as to exceed 14 hours of continuous work in a 24 hour period) during, is spent in a confined space the size of a water closet, that includes your office space, sleeping quarters, work space, recreation space, garden(dash makes a great greenhouse), you see what I am getting at here. Now in the States, we add the riots and danger these drivers face to keep everyone alive, anything you consume is due to a truck, even water, as the chemicals that treat water that would enter a cities infrastructure was brought in on a truck, food and medical supplies to sustain all care facilities and institutions... A thankless job where they are treated as second and third class citizens most of the time. Now we are demanding more than ever, physical endurance, personal danger, mental endurance, reduced access to facilities for personal hygiene and amenities like your essentials, much less finding a place to eat AND now they are cutting rates and pay... Yes the one true thing keeping everything from complete collapse(even the vaccine research) is being taken advantage of to the point of almost being a crime. The reason for this egregious act, GREED of mega-corporations and brokers who risk nothing but a wrist injury on the off chance they answer a driver's call. Do not let this travesty go unnoticed.

I usually don't overly praise people but what an absolutely delightful man, with a beautiful smile. You can see that he truly does care and love what he does. Remarkable staff dedication. Don't know why other care homes didn't follow Court House's example. Thanks to this gentleman and to Dr C for sharing this.

Well done Christopher, staff and families! I also follow NPR American news and a care home in the US also did a similar stay with the patients and kept closed. Hereʻs the link to the article: www.wnpr.org/post/bristols-shady-oaks-bubbling-keep-covid-19-out-long-term-care-facility Depending on the costs, maybe Cheddar folks could use caravans in the parking lot and then have more rooms for residents-patients and increase their income (to pay staff and other expenses).

It's nice to see people who still care. In the US I've become so disillusioned. I have tried fighting for the elderly here by contacting politicians etc and got blacklisted. I'm in a high covid area and there's no help whatsoever for the elderly, those in care homes (called nursing homes, assisted living, etc here) and the high risk. They are telling elderly and at risk to go to foodbanks, use delivery (there hasn't been open slots for months and they don't take food stamps-though thats changing slowly), rely on friends and family or volunteers (the volunteers don't take food stamps and pay is through pay pal or venmo-what elderly know how to use those?). Our care homes had a lack of PPE for months and it took months for the staff and residents to get tested, all while thousands of elderly and disabled residents died.

@@jwarmstrong in my state the state will not publish the names of nursing home deaths. They claim it is illegal thus protecting them. A few nursing homes have voluntarily publish the number of deaths. This all needs to change. The nursing home represent 80% of covid19 deaths in my Midwest state. Again the lady health commissioner kristina box says releasing that data with names is illegal all the while federal data released 2 days ago suggests they are under counting nursing home deaths in the state.

Must just add a big thank you to his wife and daughter. Well done. I love my mask. Feel very safe. High quality. In and out. Soon I am going to bake a pie. But first I Will sit in my garden with cat in my lap watching the still pretty lilas.
The weather in Stockholm is grey and cold today. I Will drink banana milkshake and eat dark mint choccolate in the garden. Saturday. So I am allowed to eat extra much choccolate.
