He was clearly full of self confidence, swagger & fatal charms at this point in his career. In this performance he was clearly miming but doing so with expert timing. He really gives his facial expressions the full monty here too, aided by fab lighting effects giving the look, with his bleach blonde spiked hair, of someone who's touching an electrical live wire (for me anyway!) Sporting tight leather pants with a leather jacket, the traditional 1 gloved hand & a bare chest, this is Billy at his best.. Perhaps the career peak. When I was a teenager in the 80s Billy was one of my idol's. I was then in his 'official fan club' & I received in the mail monthly poster books, stickers & things like that.. He's still great!
I love the fact that Billy pays homage to the greats that have influenced him. Elviis, Johnnie Ray, Gene Vincent. He later did the same to Jerry Lee Lewis one of the wildest rockers ever to have lived and still alive and kicking piano stools. Billy Idol earns his place as a Rock n Roll great. Very horny too.

It was 1986 were Billy Idol was here in Dortmund Germany Westfahlenhalle and I can remember when I was a 15 years old teenager and so many stars around there but BILLY was the BEST

I believe this may have been a lip synced performance in a live setting with live bits edited in ,(like in the "Rebel Yell" and "Mony, Mony" videos.) This song sounds way too much like the studio recording that is on the "Whiplash Smile" album. I know Billy puts a lot into his live performances nowadays but none of his live performances sound almost identical to his recorded albums.

Billy was once a Punk artist of Generation X. But I'm so glad he went as a rock singer instead. The band is good. But man I'm so glad his solo stuff rocks so much. Because I'm more a fan of rock music. Billy stands out really well as a rock singer I think.
