Funnily enough I think metal does attract quieter, more introspective people. Certainly the case with me - the aggression of the music acts as a kind of release, particularly in a live environment. When I'm stressed out, nothing beats a bit of thrash to calm me down!
@@louisemobbs As a drummer I'd love to meet Nicko but overall I think Davey. You just know he'd be up for a chat & be totally lovely! How and where did you meet?
He is definitely considered the wise one in the band. He wasn't very wise when he chose that outfit, though. I'm a huge Dave fan, but not of that outfit. 😂
The guy is Mick Wall, probably one of the best metal journalists ever. He wrote for a magazine in the late 70's called "Sounds". Sounds was the premier voice for the new, harder music coming out of Britain at that time. They championed bands like Maiden, Judas Priest, Saxon, Samson, and Diamond Head, so Wall knew the Maiden guys very well. Infact, Geoff Barton (the founder of "Kerrang!", where Wall also wrote), who also wrote for Sounds, is credited with coming up with the term "New Wave of British Heavy Metal" in an article in Sounds in 1979.
@Celestial Dragoness Steve's so influential..And I heard he loves prog rock too. He mentioned his influence as Geddy and Geezer. Long live rock and metal♥
Iron Maiden are timeless. They make amazing music regardless of the times and always keep the highest level and the best quality. The Book of Souls is another proof that they never get old. Their music is epic no matter if it's the 80s or the 10s.
Cool how they donated the proceeds of running free to an anti-heroin charity. Never knew that til I saw this, something that's never been mentioned. Guess for them growing up in East London, they would have seen a fair bit of that sorta thing, so it would have been an issue close to their hearts. Funnily enough, this was a few months prior to the famous Grange Hill Zammo-heroin storyline.
Is the guitarist gay? really weird...seen him over the years in metal mags, album covers etc but never heard him speak until now. I thought he'd have a cockney or laddish voice but he sounds really effeminate.
You wouldn't think these two quiet guys are such geniuses when it comes to songwriting and performing.
Steve and Dave - The absolute "heart and soul" of Iron Maiden!
Stevey makes me so calm down ...just his quite, friendly voice ...UP MY MASTER
Listen to Mission from Arry XD
dana qowkdpokwd Dave’s voice is so cute and friendly too, i really love them so much
Same, his voice is so calming.
It amazes me how quiet and soft spoken Dave and Steve were even they were young and in a heavy metal band.

@@Tmuk2 Agreed. Metal is like a exploding. And it is like a catharsis, purifying bad feeling.
Actually most of the metal musicians are soft spoken people. Even the frontman of Behemoth is a gentleman
The guitarist actually sounds quite gay, or too mellowed out, is he on something

Steve Harris is so charming!
Dave is just one of my favourite people on Earth. He seems like such a sweet guy. And how cute was Steve here??

Bruce & Nicko would be more interested in chatting up the girl, not that I'd blame them!
Almost like asmr

Dave Murray has all the wisdom. Once in a generation a band like Iron Maiden comes along
He is definitely considered the wise one in the band. He wasn't very wise when he chose that outfit, though. I'm a huge Dave fan, but not of that outfit. 😂
@Rita Lovett
Oh Lord! Yes. 😂 Dave is the best!
They seem like the nicest guys on earth!
Dave and Steve . The only Two members to be on every Maiden album ..
Very humble fellas when you consider they were one of the biggest bands on earth by 85
4:55 I can’t believe Steve predicted exactly what I’m doing right now
Two of the greatest heavy metal composers of all time
Great interview by well-researched and knowledgeable hosts.
+Colin Brain They would have done their homework back then too. Not like now, where you can just look up on Wikipedia just before you interview them.
Exactly. Well done.

Mick Wall has written "Run to the Hills", so he's quite close to Maiden and I believe the same goes for a lot of other bands.
@@TheRedSphinx he's mentioned in the gnr song get in the ring. Mick wall at kerrang.
Steve is out there just being this cute and perfect, I can't-
'So your not totally against the idea then?'
Dave: '...Erm no. No.' *giggles*
Bless him ;D

Steve Harris está usando a camisa do Flamengo na época de Zico!! Up the Irons!!!
Dave! Mom jeans!?
Cute guys off the stage, turning out to be monsters on the stage. Perfect alter ego. UP THE IRONS!

I love when they tell the "Cart and Horses" story, sounds so Spinal Tap.
In this glasses Dave looks like my grandmother
people: metal bands use a lot of drugs
Iron Maiden: donates money earned from a platinum-labeled album to anti-heroin campaigns
I still have that record....

HEAVY METAL
This style should come back :D
I wish I could understand a word Dave says. Such a brilliant player

Possibly, although he was a massive boozer back in the day. His eyes looked fucked in most of the interviews I've seen from the 80s.
He must have been when he got dressed. It's the only explanation for putting on that outfit.
