- This video follows I-95 through the City of Richmond, VA from Exit 67A at the VA 895 / 150 interchange to Exit 90. Along the way, you'll see the massive I-95/VA 895 interchange in southern Richmond, the Philip Morris USA manufacturing facility, the downtown skyline, and the I-95/64 overlap.

why did I watch this, I drive it almost every day.
Nice work, always enjoy that stretch of I-95 and especially the VA-895 interchange. I also agree with your comment at 3:53 about Richmond having some characteristics of a northern city, especially with regards to the highways. Thumbs up!

I always loved crossing the James river and looking at all the buildings
i left richmond in 2001 i miss it alot still its my hometown. my mom is still there. lived in nova till 2007. lived in morgantown wva for a year. then nashville tn till 2013. im in colorado springs colorado now. feels like a new city when i go back. not the crime ridden streets i remember in the 90's walking around the fan as a kid.

Video looks awesome man! Great view. The roads look like they are in better shape than when I went through there in 2010. I am glad they in the process of replacing those old 1950's era bridges downtown, should make travel a lot smoother when its done.

@Bryant5493 Thanks, Bryant! Richmond is a great town with a lot of recent development in and around the downtown area in recent years. I haven't stopped and walked around in the city since 2007, but I think it's definitely worth a visit back for both of us!

@ScrewdUPClickV2 Thanks, bro! And, yeah I wouldn't doubt that a bit since the 145 ft. James River Bridge is immediately to the right in the video (you can see part of it). That interchange always impresses me everytime I drive through it.

@FreewayBrent: Nevermind, I missed your annotation in the beginning about how the height of the bridge is necessary to accommodate ships.
I remembered driving on this portion of 95.. I can't believe they took down the building that is right next to the James River bridge.. it's like you could run off the bridge and easily crashed into that building. (the one at the end of James River Bridge.. before the I-64 exit).
I still believe that present I-95 should be an extension of I-85 and the I-295 being as I-95.

Great Vid. Just curious about your observation of Richmond giving the impression of a northern city as oppose to a southern city. Is it the architecture, roadways, climate,? Again I am just curious.

The I-95/VA 895 interchange at the beginning is probably one of my top 10 favorite interchanges in the US. It's right up there among the most unique ones to be found anywhere in North America. I do find it a bit odd, however, that officials decided to construct such an elaborate interchange, while the rest of I-95 through Richmond could use a real upgrade. I don't think its 6 lane setup will be sufficient in the near future?
@VaFreeways Thanks, dude! Yeah, the pavement through downtown was a little bumpy, but it was bearable haha. I think they're paving portions of 95 south of downtown judging by some equipment I saw sitting on the side of the road
Richmond is an up and coming city though. I enjoy living here.
@FreewayBrent There are plans to toll I-95 at the VA/NC border in order to pay for future upgrades. But I since I-95 was built with federal money I think they have to get approval from the feds first before they can start tolling. VA-895 was built under a public-pirvate partnership and that explains the elaborate interchange. My understanding is that cool-looking northbound ramp was a response to complaints by the city of richmond that there was no northbound access to I-95 in the original plans

Evan, I finished the book "Final Cut Express 4" by Diana Weynard. In the end of the book I learned how to do the "caption" the way you do. LOL

@Reiser86 Thanks! Besides the radar detector ban, I love Virginia haha. Like you said, it is such a beautiful and historic city. Richmond is also a cool town with many charming neighborhoods and *lots* of history.

Nice video. That cigarette thing as you enter Richmond just looks tacky.... I also would have thought that as it merges with I-95 they need more than 3 lanes as it seems to get awfully congested. Thanks for your videos, from a viewer in New Zealand.

yeah unfortunately Richmond has a very ugly side and the thru streets under the underpasses create the perfect setting for the predatory population of Richmond.
