Finished this song today for my one-minute song cycle. I'm a better composer than singer so imagine your favorite voice. I just wanted to share a moment of creation. I'm hoping to record all of these one-minute songs at some point later in the year.
Central Park At Dusk
by Sara Teasdale (1884-1933)
first published in 1911 in "Helen of Troy and Other Poems"
Buildings above the leafless trees
Loom high as castles in a dream,
While one by one the lamps come out
To thread the twilight with a gleam.
There is no sign of leaf or bud,
A hush is over everything-
Silent as women wait for love,
The world is waiting for the spring.
Tituss Burgess would be my first choice.
