Befriending myself has been, so far, the most critical decision I have ever made after years of chasing acceptance and validation from people with their agendas and demons. I love the attunement these lessons bring about.
First time living a serene life. After being controlled by my family I loved and respected. I feel alive., wasted so many years . to wrong people. Manipulation. Free life Broken trust, Every liking to any relationship with anyone was destroyed. Dog in the manger attitude Narcissistic attitude. Insulting family, lack of support system.. Which made me doubt myself. Just to be alive for the first time in my life. Is so beautiful.
I cut contact with 2 people about 6 months ago who were friends of nearly 35 years, once very close friends, when I realized they had stopped behaving as a friend to me

Prioritizing your peace of mind means recognizing that your mental and emotional well-being are essential. It involves setting boundaries, practicing self-care, and choosing responses that promote inner tranquility, even in the face of difficult circumstances or people.
We have so much in common. I completely understand what you're going through. It was the toughest decision of my life, but I finally cut ties with my narcissistic sisters. One has done nothing but bring me down, (she's a covert narcissist). The other, an alcoholic, grandios narcissist who leaches off of people. Thankfully, we live in different states and never have to see each other again unless I choose to. "From turmoil to tranquility" well said. ❤
I went completely Gray Rock, almost no contact, with my antisemitic sister, who supports Hamas. She's also a covert narcissist. I never pick up when she calls any more, and only respond to her texts with dry and minimal comments. She's acting like nothing's wrong and has never acknowledged the elephant in the room. Works for me. 😊
🥦 Being vegan is a joyful way of living, and a moral baseline for any kind, sane individual. It’s our duty, while we’re alive on this earth, to strive to do the least harm to others. Being vegan is part of that. 🍌 Being vegan is the least we can do to help animals, who have a right to life, liberty, and happiness, in the same way that we do. 🍆 Vegans don’t steal. They don’t steal animals’ fur, feathers, wool, eggs, milk, honey, freedom, body parts, or their lives. 🍉 Using, or killing someone, just because they look different from us is wrong. 🥝 If aliens came to earth and treated us the way we treat animals, we would be begging them to stop killing our babies and pleading with them to eat lentils, beans, rice, potatoes, tomatoes and tofu instead. 🍎 According to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, being vegan is healthy at any stage of development- one just has to eat enough calories, and a variety of foods each day, including fruits, green leafy vegetables, nuts, seeds, legumes and whole grains. 🥕 Being vegan helps protect the planet by reducing one’s carbon footprint. First we must understand what it is with in ourselves that causes us to become disturbed. I believe it is our ego, our need to be valued and respected. We must learn that our importance is not determined by how another chooses to view us but how we view ourselves. If how we view ourselves is an issue, then how others view us and treat us becomes an issue. We must learn to love value and accept ourselves as we are. Once that is done and mastered, no one else or nothing else can disturb us. A quote from the Buddha: you are PERFECT just as you ARE!!!
HOW do you do and master that. And how do you know when you DO love yourself enough, without getting narcissistic? I can stand in front of a mirror and say to myself:"You're beautiful" until I'm blue in the face. But it doesn't change anything about the feeling that now, at 61, I'm beginning to see the light in a way, as if I've been sleeping for like the last 30 years and now am old, and I have nothing. No carreer, no partner, no children or grandchildren: nothing. Because I always TRIED to have principles, do the right thing and be honest. In an empathatic way. But even when you do not share your principles and ideas, people dislike you just because you're "different".
To the contrary, none of us are perfect 'just as we are' but God accepts us just as we are. We all sin against other people, against ourselves & against God. We should try not to, but knowing that God loves us & we are his created masterpieces should certainly give us a sense of self worth. The pursuit of holiness is fulfilling.

Sometimes we need to hear the wise, sometimes we think we know it all but then we realize we don't and it's ok not to know everything, psychology is amazing and when we have these people (philosophers) and go deep in our thoughts and behaviors then share their knowledge it's so important because I really find it helpful and then it makes me understand my deeper self and now I know it's ok that I feel a certain way but that I also have the power to change that but not change others...... and it's ok, as long as we take care of ourselves, it's others job to take care of themselves 🙂
Perfect. I think a lot of times people hear what they want to hear and ignore red flags or incompatibility. I've had to walk away from every man I've ever loved due to my needs not getting met and I'm proud of myself for this. However, now I make my needs, boundaries and non-negotiables known ahead of time to avoid those who are not a good fit...or try to at least. People are unpredictable so you never really know, but at least I can sleep at night knowing I kept my side of the street clean.
Wonderful broadcast..not only did it outline behaviors I shouldn't condone ... but it also made me look deep inside myself to make sure I'm not I'm not behaving inappropriately on occasion!
I wish I had this knowledge when I was dealing with my parents. Both had all of these traits. My sister's prescence is enough to irritate me and cause imbalance. I have chosen to live a solitary life in reflection, healing and improving myself. I notice that even those who seem "nice" have hidden agendas. The modern word " Toxic " describes everything and everyone that poisons our minds, damage our health and hinder our growth. This way of life helped me through the Pandemic and I am grateful to have developed a stronger mind😊
"Over time, I've learned to reassess my relationships. I now view people I once considered friends as simply individuals from my past. This shift in perspective has helped me manage my emotions more effectively. I've realized that if I truly mattered to someone, their actions would reflect that importance. Recently, a friend of nearly 45 years abruptly ended our relationship. Initially, this hurt me deeply. However, applying my new outlook, I now see her as someone I used to know. This mindset has been liberating. I recognize my own worth as a good person. If others choose not to maintain contact, I've come to accept that as their decision. It's freeing to let go of expectations and simply wish them well in their journey. This approach has allowed me to focus on nurturing meaningful connections while releasing those that no longer serve me positively."
At a lunch with 2 friends I felt an odd feeling that I wasn't in the know during a couple of conversations and the look on one of my friends face was discomfort. She tried to hide it, i said nothing but from that moment, for me, i knew I had to let them go. Something was going on behind my back and I wasn't going to tolerate it. I allowed our friendship to fizzle out by not meeting up again. Eventually she got the message.
Well said. In other words having high expectations and wanting something from another person. And don't project your own issues onto other people if it's extension of things you see in yourself. Aka that you feel the feelings. And you attach feelings connected to own issues onto other people. When you expect from people you cut-off what could be. I know this first-hand. Also regulate your own emotions because believe it or not you can be triggered by nothing more than your own mind. I've seen it time and time again. You think it's a thing poking/prodding your feelings when it's yourself who is doing it.
Don't be so judgemental that you forget to be personally accountable / take ownership for own actions. The other person is just a distraction from yourself, what they are doing. Concentrate on what you are doing and stop concentrating on what others are doing. Learn to regulate yourself. Or you might just forget that.. you exist too. Playing your role in a situation. Don't be that guy who thinks their god because they think their judgement grants them immunity/invincibility.
I enjoyed every aspect of all of the words of this information. I agree, 100% with everything that was said. One thing I would like to note is that the piano music behind the words was very distracting. It was hard for me to concentrate on the words being said because, the whole thing was just too busy with the music behind the teaching. I will continue to listen to this channel. However, I will have to learn how to ignore the irritating music behind the words that are distracting my subconscious mind.
Bravo! ... Thank you for this profoundly encouraging summary of Stoic concepts. I resonate with everything stated here and feel empowered to continue to refine in a similar direction. It should be clear to many, that the content of this video represents a manifesto of one of the philosophical pillars of Western Civilization. It has taken two thousand years of education, science, and contemporary psychology to affirm and confirm this philosophy as foundational to personal, and social development. This knowledge culminates in profound self-government and progress in communities from family to governing bodies. I believe this content has come at a good time, and will result in the betterment of our social structures if understood and applied. May blessings and good fortune visit those responsible for publishing this valuable work.

There can be no compromise on honesty because for survival, one can not sleep in peace if the trust, which is quite expensive to he who gives, if trust is broken. There is no serum to heal broken trust. You must remove yourself from the deceiver
In order to maintain relatiinship it should be based in equality , liberty , friendliness, or liberty , godliness and love, thesecare the essence of ones Self...."know thyself" means to know which of the basic elements constitute your behaviour , there are five: instinctive , moving , sex / desires, emotion, intellect , if one studies them in oneself , he can become more aware of them in others this is the first step in any relatiinship....

the key lesson is to recognize and address harmful relationships by applying Stoic principles such as wisdom, justice, and emotional resilience. Prioritize relationships that respect and support your well-being and inner peace, and have the courage to cut ties with those that undermine your tranquility and moral integrity.
Very wise words, but hard to follow without crossing or bending the lines a bit when one has also been in a military occupation for half of one’s life , in the military a stoic life is in Al the leadership treats that one is fought and needs to follow but also leaves room for a foot in someone’s ass every now and then, I do understand the need for restraint and mutual respect but in the real world you don’t have to like a particular person but you must respect the rank or there are real world consequences, any one reading this please let me know if I’m wrong but also look at it from a warriors perspective not just a Markus arilious venue that was a Cesar of Rome.

I'm beginning to get irritated by the constant remark of "it isn't align with stoicism. Yes, the subject falls under the category stoicism but I don't need to hear that every 30 seconds. Respect, giving respect and expecting to be treated with respect is, on top of that, NOT only for stoics. EVERYONE wants to, and deserves to be treated, with respect.

Well done. Although it's difficult, you'll benefit in the long run.

I never pick up when she calls any more, and only respond to her texts with dry and minimal comments. She's acting like nothing's wrong and has never acknowledged the elephant in the room.
Works for me. 😊

This allows the earth’s air, water, and soil to remain clean for both the animals and the next generations of children.
🫐 Everyone reading this was born vegan as it simply means doing the least harm to animals. Babies drink their mother’s milk which is vegan because it is given freely, not stolen.

🍅 Being vegan is easy as there are millions of healthy vegan recipes online and it has been proven that buying vegan foods like oats, beans, peas, rice, potatoes, spinach, cauliflower, broccoli, bananas, pasta, dates, bread, peanut butter, lentils, onions, is less costly because buying staples in bulk is not expensive. Feeding your body with love, and not death, will help you feel better both physically and emotionally.

Thanks

Prioritizing your own peace of mind. ❤

Do not cut connection, but cut desires, desires lead to sorrows

Prioritize relationships that respect and support your well-being and inner peace, and have the courage to cut ties with those that undermine your tranquility and moral integrity.
