I’m never disappointed and always intrigued by your work and stories of this fascinating places and all those amazing lifetimes you have shared! Very well done sir!
thumbs up !! When your standing next to Sojourner Truths headstone...your 75 feet from my Grandfathers grave, James Shields. My aunt and uncle, Suzy and Albert Mumford still live in Battle Creek along with 3 of their kids and grandkids.....I was there visiting them 3 years ago where we interned my mother into Memorial park Cemetery next to my father, Jim and Margaret Stroud. * thumbs up to ya from Lake George, NY !!
Michael, That was a very interesting tour of Oak Hill Cemetery. The video was nicely done, the narration & research was exceptionally respectful of the early citizens of Battle Creek. Local schools would benefit from this video, as it would definitely hold the attention of students. I'll be looking forward to the next video. Great job!
Fascinating tour. Thank you. I grew up in Battle Creek but now live in Florida. I have relatives of both my parents buried in Oak Hill cemetery. However, neither of my parents were aware that these relatives had lived in the area (long before our family came to BC in the 1940's). I found out through genealogical research. I'll come back there sometimes and see all the famous people's graves that you have pointed out.
I was born in BC in 1951 at Community Hosp. I have often thought of Oak Hill Cemetery but have never visited it. I live in Fla. now but still have Swan relatives in BC area. On Find a grave.com I have found there are Swans there but none that have any relationship with my branch. I appreciate your video and would look forward to more of the same of the history of my home town. Thank you.
Hello... do you know if George Willard had any children? I'm trying to determine how the famous architect Charles Willard Moore (born in Battle Creek in 1925) is related to the Willards.
@@MichaelDelaware Thank you. I had checked that, but there is no mention of children or family. So it may be that both siblings George and Charles were childless bachelors, which makes this quite intriguing.
@@kkdesignservices183 I would suggest checking the online newspaper archives at Willard library. See if either one of their obituaries mention surviving children. Also, the historical society here in BC might have some information.
@@MichaelDelaware Just found an article that explains George Willard had one son and two daughters. One daughter married a Moore, so that's where the Willard and Moore lines intersected.
I plan to cover him in the next video. He was one of several I could not find when I was there. The map they have of grave locations online is not very easy to follow and the numbers are small and blurred. I had a hard time tried to read the small numbers with my bad eyesight. I have since spent more time on understanding the numbering sequence of the place, and have a lot better understanding of how it is laid out. He will defintely be in the next one. There is also a Harlem Globetrotter buried there: Floyd Dewain Bates and another Motown music writer that I found out about after I filmed this.
Another good one Michael. I enjoyed this one.
Wow love the information on Sands McCamly!

You are right. I must have mixed up my notes when reading the narrative. Good catch.

How in the hell can you make a trip and video to Oak Hill cemetery and not even mention Junior Walker's marker?!
