Peregrine Falcon vs Crow

  • Update 12/9/22 - After some of the comments pointed out it's a falcon and not a hawk, I spoke to an ornithologist who confirmed it's a juvenile peregrine falcon. Therefore I have changed the title from "Hawk vs Crow" to "Peregrine Falcon vs Crow".
Update 8/2/24 - There seems to be a disagreement in the comment section of what kind of a bird it is. It's either called a "accipiter hawk", "sparrowhawk", "merlin falcon" etc. However, I'll stick with what the ornithologist said.
There are a also lot of comments regarding why I disturbed these animals, and my answer to that is that I didn't plan to intervene at all. It's a long time ago now (2015), but I guess I got too excited by the spur-of-the-moment, didn't think, and got too close. That's all. If you get upset, that's okay. I do read your comments and I appreciate your engagement.

@@switch12345678 ...You can see them walking closer to the birds throughout the video. At most the person appears to be ~3 feet away and even though they did directly startle the falcon into releasing its prey, I also don't blame the person recording the video because it's such an uncommon experience for someone not really into wildlife-watching to see and it's very easy to unknowingly get too close to an animal like this as a beginner. Hopefully you get to see more Peregrines out and about @Toni Nordli and hopefully some of these comments don't put you off from going out bird-watching or anything! We've all been there, and this must've been amazing to witness live!

@@granthallman7721 Anti-raptor sentiment? Where you get that from? All I'm saying is that you didn't have to post a comment 8(!) years after the video was taken. The cameraman would probably in hindsight thought to himself that he shouldn't have gone that close, which he notes in the description. I know for a fact that if I were to see something like that which I don't see everyday, or even in a lifetime, I would probably not think about scaring an animal off since I would probably be overly excited and in awe of the majesty of said creature. A lot of people would probably do the same thing. Feeling the need to place down a negative comment about an adrenaline rush excitement experience is just distasteful. I do agree that the cameraman was too close, but I don't agree with the general comment section having the need to be distasteful.

I don't know if you're a meat eater or not but you better stop your hypocrisy because if a vegan came to save the food your about to eat from your hands you wouldn't be this understanding.
Let's get facts down. Humans are not animals. We possess intelligence, will, wisdom, morality etc... These are things animals do not possess. Most humans don't live utilising their best tools so they become less than animals. Which is why you probably relate the way you do. For you to dictate how nature should work, you are being highly hypocritical.
In the wild Predators do not have a high success rate for killing prey. Often most predators have to try multiple times before they earn a successful meal. All you're doing is becoming emotional and taking it's food and its natural duties away because you did not 'like' something true. Due to that you've literally messed with nature and it's food chain which will affect us somewhere down the line if everybody had your mentality. I'm glad we don't.
You just do not understand nature, nature is cruel but is as real as it gets. Remember like the Truth, nature does not care for your 'feelings'.
That same Crow would never bat an eye lid if you were being beat by a mob of people.
Also a Crow might be more intelligent than you - but you've spoken a lie when you said Crows are intelligent than Humans. That's untrue or is not backed by any kind of evidence. We've developed nukes which can decimate biodiversity - I wonder what the Crows have come up with to match this
