Peregrine Falcon vs Crow
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 15 окт 2024
- Update 12/9/22 - After some of the comments pointed out it's a falcon and not a hawk, I spoke to an ornithologist who confirmed it's a juvenile peregrine falcon. Therefore I have changed the title from "Hawk vs Crow" to "Peregrine Falcon vs Crow".
Update 8/2/24 - There seems to be a disagreement in the comment section of what kind of a bird it is. It's either called a "accipiter hawk", "sparrowhawk", "merlin falcon" etc. However, I'll stick with what the ornithologist said.
There are a also lot of comments regarding why I disturbed these animals, and my answer to that is that I didn't plan to intervene at all. It's a long time ago now (2015), but I guess I got too excited by the spur-of-the-moment, didn't think, and got too close. That's all. If you get upset, that's okay. I do read your comments and I appreciate your engagement.

because of this snowman with a camera, a frightened hawk can die under the car.
Have you heard of zooming? It's not clear how far away he was. In any case, the hawk flew away when a car came.
Exactly.....Stupid guy
@@switch12345678 ...You can see them walking closer to the birds throughout the video. At most the person appears to be ~3 feet away and even though they did directly startle the falcon into releasing its prey, I also don't blame the person recording the video because it's such an uncommon experience for someone not really into wildlife-watching to see and it's very easy to unknowingly get too close to an animal like this as a beginner. Hopefully you get to see more Peregrines out and about @Toni Nordli and hopefully some of these comments don't put you off from going out bird-watching or anything! We've all been there, and this must've been amazing to witness live!
The title says, Falcon not Hawk.
@@switch12345678 The hawk was disturbed and could not finish the job...
You came too close to them. This would give the falcon too much pressure to give up his prey.

This should be titled "Peregrine Falcon vs Cameraman". You just cost that raptor its meal. Need to stay farther back!
Actually, that was author's intention.
@@lostsoul1813 That's just odd. If a deliberate intervention to save the crow was intended, it took much longer than necessary, resulting in considerable unnecessary suffering for the prey. And if it wasn't intended, he'sjust too close. I don't see a reasonable excuse for what happened, either way.
@@granthallman7721 you need to stay further away from a keyboard. Have you even seen when it was taken? Power of hindsight and everything... don't be a dick
@@Alkivol You're certainly entitled to your anti-raptor sentiments. I stand by my complaint. The cameraman was interfering with the raptor's life, and shouldn't have. Doesn't matter when the clip was taken.
@@granthallman7721 Anti-raptor sentiment? Where you get that from? All I'm saying is that you didn't have to post a comment 8(!) years after the video was taken. The cameraman would probably in hindsight thought to himself that he shouldn't have gone that close, which he notes in the description. I know for a fact that if I were to see something like that which I don't see everyday, or even in a lifetime, I would probably not think about scaring an animal off since I would probably be overly excited and in awe of the majesty of said creature. A lot of people would probably do the same thing. Feeling the need to place down a negative comment about an adrenaline rush excitement experience is just distasteful. I do agree that the cameraman was too close, but I don't agree with the general comment section having the need to be distasteful.

A young man is walking along the ocean and sees a beach on which thousands and thousands of starfish have washed ashore. Further along he sees an old man, walking slowly and stooping often, picking up one starfish after another and tossing each one gently into the ocean.
“Why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?,” he asks.
“Because the sun is up and the tide is going out and if I don’t throw them further in they will die.”
“But, old man, don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and starfish all along it! You can’t possibly save them all, you can’t even save one-tenth of them. In fact, even if you work all day, your efforts won’t make any difference at all.”

For the record, thank you for saving the poor crow! A falcon can hunt or scavange something else. If I see this I would definately save the prey, I am not letting anything die on my watch, especially not a crow that is highly intelligent more so than humans.
I don't know if you're a meat eater or not but you better stop your hypocrisy because if a vegan came to save the food your about to eat from your hands you wouldn't be this understanding.
Let's get facts down. Humans are not animals. We possess intelligence, will, wisdom, morality etc... These are things animals do not possess. Most humans don't live utilising their best tools so they become less than animals. Which is why you probably relate the way you do. For you to dictate how nature should work, you are being highly hypocritical.
In the wild Predators do not have a high success rate for killing prey. Often most predators have to try multiple times before they earn a successful meal. All you're doing is becoming emotional and taking it's food and its natural duties away because you did not 'like' something true. Due to that you've literally messed with nature and it's food chain which will affect us somewhere down the line if everybody had your mentality. I'm glad we don't.
You just do not understand nature, nature is cruel but is as real as it gets. Remember like the Truth, nature does not care for your 'feelings'.
That same Crow would never bat an eye lid if you were being beat by a mob of people.
Also a Crow might be more intelligent than you - but you've spoken a lie when you said Crows are intelligent than Humans. That's untrue or is not backed by any kind of evidence. We've developed nukes which can decimate biodiversity - I wonder what the Crows have come up with to match this
