    Need to take my son there. He is actually a member of the Red lake band of Chippewas. His mom was born there but his grandpa moved her to Michigan where we live now. We love fishing would be a good experience for him

    I think we can all agree 150 fish per adult per day is a bit excessive.

    • @laportian
      @laportian 9 месяцев назад +1

      It's our lake and 150 day limit is fine. The lake produces it and there aren't many commercial fisherman. It gets fished hard on our opener. And that usually only lasts like a couple weeks in late April. Then there might a good go in December. But generally not many are on the lake most of the time. It helps pay the bills though. I don't live up there so my time is limited to when times are really good to be able to fish for the money.

      That’s only for when we fish for the fisheries. Otherwise it’s 10 walleye per family/household. Thanks for commenting and watching!

      Thank you bro! The water was a little colder than I usually start trolling crank baits but we try a little earlier and earlier every year. Fun way to fish Lol. Usually around 60 degree water temp is a hot bite! This day it was still 56 degrees so I’m getting excited! Thanks for watching!

    Hey so ive fished upper a few times but say my boat "slips" through the narrows and now im accidently fishing lower. What would happen?

    • @reservationoutdoors
      @reservationoutdoors  5 месяцев назад

      Good question, if a non member is caught on reservation land or harvesting anything, or on tribal waters on a boat, plane, whatever it is that you have , can be confiscated by dnr and a hefty fine I do believe.

Sure they have days when they wanna stay home but not Mase jr 😁. The kids are all looking forward to bass season so that might be coming up soon! Thanks for watching !

    Hey brother! Nice vid. Love seeing the stern but loving interaction between you and the kid while showing him the gift of the outdoors and comraderie. I think a lot of people have a lot more in common than they have to divide them, if only more people could see it and stop believing the BS hatred-spreading crap the media puts out. Props and much love

      Hey thanks brother! Great great point! People care too much about race and color these days it’s ridiculous. We are all basically the same..... HUMAN BEINGS. My kids love the outdoors and soak up all the info I give them like sponges. Mase jr amazes me sometimes with that he remembers or picks up on. My 2 yo boy (Otto) is starting to get the hang of it now. When he sees me leaving he asks to come everytime 😁. I love it. My daughters are into their phones and social life but they still enjoy coming along and learning new techniques or just being out in the great outdoors. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      Oh man hes busy out there, and loves every minute of it! I got a new net with a telescopic handle on it so he’s fired up to get out there and use it 😁. If the tribe ever allowed that to happen, I’d be all over it! I’ve had quite a few people say the same thing to me. Thanks for watching our videos! We will be working on other species of fish in the weeks to come!

      As much as I understand both sides, I kind of “belong” to one side, in a traditional sense. But I get it I think. They got a couple bodies of water to cherish as their own and I feel that. I won’t get into the whole white/Indian politics, but everybody needs to try a little harder to see it from the other side’s perspective. I’m a “privileged” white boy who happens to live on sacred sioux land, and have ojibwe friends from red lake, leech, Cass, Mille lacs, etc. the big thing we all share is we’re all fucking HUMAN!!!!! much love and respect to my native people! Peace

      @@auto_5 I hear you there! My mother is 100% Red Lake Native, and my dad is 100% Caucasian. I’ve seen things from both sides of view, and always wondered, why don’t we all just get along?? Kinda felt stuck in the middle. I was born in Red Lake, lived In Ponemah til I was 6, and went to school and graduated in Bigfork . Moved back to the Red Lake Nation because of the terrain and waters with abundance of wildlife. All people from all places have different rules/regulations to follow, and we do that no matter where we are. But great point made about people needing to look at things from multiple view points to truely understand the situation. Miigwech for commenting and watching!

    I'm from Minnesota and have always been told we're only allowed on Upper Red Lake... is this true? Upper Red Lake is amazing as it is but couldn't imagine how much better Lower Red Lake is.

    • @reservationoutdoors

      There is a portion of upper red lake that is state side. So if you have a Minnesota fishing license you are welcome to fish that portion. Lower red and part of upper red is on the red lake nation and only red lake band members can fish this part. But yes the fishing on upper red is very good

      I love it, some spots we can’t even see across. Lots of spots for the fish to hide! Certain times of year they’re stacked up in areas but mid summer they spread out and use the mid lake structure too. Do you have walleye in your local lakes?
