    I've watched Floating clouds by naruse, very sad story... I realised that Hideko Takamine is a very good actress! Her acting didn't look so convincing to me until now, but how she achieved a subtle change from resigned laugh into sad quiet weeping in about 3 seconds (!) in the movie!!! That scene was so impressive.

    Bravo pour votre grande culture du cinéma japonais. Vous faites bien d'établir un lien entre l'oeuvre de Naruse et celle de Kore-Eda. Si tous les fimes du premier pouvaient être proposés en DVD par un éditeur !

    I am a pessimist serene, or something like that! (forgive me my very bad English!). It has been said of Chekhov that he was "calm, sad and serene." I love this idea. There is a force, an energy in the Naruse's films that goes beyond optimism and pessimism. A stream, a river, a stream, which carries everything.

    Magnifique hommage rendu au grand Naruse. Superbe travail, bravo. "Un train qui roule et nous, nous observons notre existence filer sur notre siège. Le temps passe sans que l'on ait la moindre emprise sur lui". Des mélodrames magiques et aériens. Nass de Senscritique

    @Terrybogard851 Je te remercie beaucoup :)
    Les scènes de train et de marche chez Naruse (chez Ozu aussi) ont un charme que je n'arrive pas très bien à expliquer... Mais le temps suspendu, le monde flottant, la question du bonheur et du sens de la vie s'éteignant légèrement, tout cela est à la fois serein et doucement mélancolique.

    You talk about "Mono no aware" feeling, but for me Ozu's films give more that feeling than Naruse's films. Obviously, the films of Naruse also gives us the feeling of time passing, the touching intimacy of things, this blend of serenity and sadness.

    @saurabhCherished Thanks a lot ! Kurosawa's sentence about Naruse's style is fabulous...
    I'll try to found "Tony Takitani", thanks !

    @saurabhCherished But Ozu's films are more quiet, contemplative, accepted, quiet, with a beautiful silence. In Naruse, there are some storms, some of revolt, disappointment, suffering, strife, separation, poverty. It has a very social side, without being a Marxist either.

    Very beautiful tribute! Would like to see a similar montage of Naruse's 1930s films. Thank you!

    And I love Hideko Takamine.

    Good! Akira Kurosawa called Naruse's style ,"like a great river with a calm surface and a raging current in its depths". Unfortunately I feel the depth, more than the calm surface! He's great director, but his movies are very hard to watch [and find] .I watch them when I'm the mood !!
    You should try Jun Ichikawa's 'Tony Takitani' ,based on the story of Haruki Murakami.Same 'Mono No Aware' film with surreal touch.Sorry if you've already seen the movie.It's not so great ,but ...!!!!
