Hello Paul, what a beautiful old home. I'm glad you were able to film it before they started to take it apart. I can imagine the love that was once shared throughout the life of this home. It's sad to see these old homes disappear from our history. Thanks for sharing. As always, see you on the next one.

I hope that they salvage all the beautiful leaded windows and doors, light fittings and fireplaces! They were stunning. Such a shame this lovely home will be demolished, what a waste, but who would want to live there now with the noisy traffic and that monstrosity of a cell tower?
Hi Paul. I went to Underdale High school '70 - '74. The area once had extensive market gardens and a celery farm bordered our oval. The smell of celery was fabulous! This style of home is very common in the area, not all as grand as this dame, but very solid all the same. So good to see so many original features still in place. Thanks for another great explore 😁
Cheers Vicki :-) Thanks for recalling many aspects about Adelaide form the past I know you have done it many times and it is great hearing locals recall these detail. :-)
You are not going to believe this, Paul! Just before Christmas in the 1950s, as a young kid, I worked delivering letters for the PMG, based at the Kilkenny Post Office. This home was on my particular round. Twice a day, Postie whistle in my mouth, I rode past this home & remember it well. I got to know a few people on that round, but not these folks. I often used to wonder what the house was like inside. Thanks once again, mate!!!👍

What a beautiful old artdeco home. I love artdeco it is so unique. It's a shame that they are going to demolish this. There's nothing wrong with it. It makes me sad 😔. Thanks for sharing this old beauty of a home.
You were whispering because you were in awe of the house. 😊 So much beauty, gone forever. Thanks for remembering it with video and comment. On to the next!
Looks like someone took the empire state shade from the hallway. The lemon cream coloured one. They are rare and sell for a minimum of about $400 online. The jelly mould lamp is another $80, the chandelier deco lights another $300 and the front hallway deco milk glass with the glass diffuser another $300-400. I have several of the empire state shades and would love to have been there when they were salvaging it! I hope those light shades were saved, sold or repurposed! Great video.
The Art Deco is just perfect to me. What a beautiful, graceful old place. Some of the light fittings are just incredible. Yet another lost to modern crap. So depressing and my hatred towards the developers is unparalleled. Great explore

I expected to find art deco fire places. The art deco white doors were beautiful. ❤️I loved the front of the house.♥️ Thank so much for the pictures of the home back then. ❤. Love how you preserve these pictures for future reference. 🥰. Cathy, Ohio,🇺🇸
That's awesome, thanks for the video, I've passed there a few times on my way to film my videos, I live in Mile End & a lot of old houses are being torn down to make way for new units, makes me so angry & also old buildings in the CBD are going too, I'm glad you got this on film, Cheers 😊
Such tastefully picked out elements of design everywhere you look. That club chair makes me smile thinking of someone installing wheels under those massive chair legs and a 2-stroke motor with steering column with an elegant flower holder attached. I wonder what those green kitchen counter tops are made with. So much thought went into the selection of all those stunning light fixtures. So happy you caught this one in time.
mind blown, bet those light shades glow under uv lights, great explore Mr Indigo, I enjoy the big old girls the best. this one was special because of the original fixtures being so well cared for.
This is a really magnificent looking house and has a lot of history in it both inside and outside but to bad like the other houses it is another beautiful place that was demolished but glad you got this footage of it to show what a very wonderful home it was and the history of it and the family who lived there once again a really great video of a beautiful place from the past Thank You and until next time take care.🇦🇺👋👋🇦🇺
What a beauty, shame she is being demolished given its condition and heritage. . Should be a law any building over 50 years old cannot be demolished. To build such a quality home these days, double brick, windows with leadlights, ornate ceilings etc would be in the millions! Thanks for sharing and documenting this beauty.
It is a shame that people can't live there. If the house is not in bad shape. This house had some nice touchs, like the doors. I even liked the kitchen. Have a good week.😊
This house has so many beautiful details, between the ceiling plaster work, the numerous light fixtures, and absolutely gorgeous art deco lead light window panels, and the terazzo floors, it's just a real shame that it will all be lost and replaced with plain disposable ugly new construction. It really boggles the mind how those "developers" (more like destroyers) can sleep at night, let alone live with themselves. Thanks so much for documenting this, at least future generations might get a glimpse of the beauty that was destroyed so that they could have cheap cardboard shacks stacked one atop the next. Keep up the good work!!
I love every single light fixture and ceiling medallion in that house! In its day it was a showstopper for sure. The arch in the hallway, the touches of Art Deco, even the bathroom was beautiful. They just don’t make houses like that anymore. Everything is cookie cutter, and builder grade and just what goes together the fastest. Tradesmen aren’t artists like they used to be. And even if they are they don’t have time to do high-end work. I hope the salvage company is smart enough to removed everything, it’s all so pretty. And great for builders or home owners that are restoring their home. Take care Paul!
Hi Cali 😊 so glad you enjoyed this one, art deco is def one of my fav ones to film. Such a shame it could not be kept for another family to love for many more years 😊

I saw your intro and almost couldn’t bear to watch the video. But here I go. A bit sad but worth it. Loved the original parts (of course). So glad I watched to the end. The reveal of 4 diff kitchen floorings was awesome! I’ve never seen such a variety of wood, lino patterns and that lovely sculptured carpet (how did that happen in the kitchen of an orchid nursery). Thanks so much for sharing. It’s gone but seems to have had a loved existence and is at least on video. ❤
Im watching on my telly, so i can see it in full view, so far i love the leaded glass window beautiful, my daughter Amber loves the color green..although the tile work in the kitchen reminds me of the bathroom walls..😅, the green light she would claim, love the lamp hanging in the hall..or is it the kitchen? The green counter she would definitely claim ok ill stop commenting now love it all, thankyou for sharing ❤
Great record of this old home , interesting to see the aerial shot from 1935 , I don’t know why the city could not plan East ave and Holbrooks rd to be straight across rather than that awful bend that creates issues for impatient drivers. I believe they plan on rectifying that intersection now
Watching this I remembered why i stopped watching. At one point you were having back to back demos, and watching them made me very angry, but it also made me incredibly sad. I know there are house movers out there but I imagine this house would have been hard to relocate. I enjoy more your random farmhouse ones, but still get drawn into these no matter how it makes me feel. I was one of your very first subscribers before you hit 1000, and I’ve very much enjoyed all your content. Thankyou Paul, you’re amazing for sharing these forgotten gems. Did you remember to go back for those papers???
Hi Shannon 👍😊 thanks for being a loyal long time supporter and subscriber. Yes the demo ones are sad. Relocating stone built homes is fat more difficult and expensive so the just knock them down. I have many more farm houses so that's good. Cheers again 😊👍
A great introduction and a sad goodbye to a once elegant late 1930s Art Deco home. Adelaide will gradually become unrecognisable if demolitions of vintage and historic homes continues, being replaced by modern high density structures. Thank you Paul for taking the time to capture so many of the old homes, before being destroyed.
Hey Paul. What an interesting old home. Would be good if someone could salvage the stones and roof tiles and rebuild another new house. Add all the windows and interior fittings. Build another Art Deco house in 2023. I remember the Pix magazine. Also the Post magazine. That really took me back in time. What we are experiencing in the 2000s is GLOBALISM. Nothing matters. Nobody matters. Our Australian culture doesn't matter. WE need to keep our culture ALIVE. Post old time photos. Remember our Australian traditions. Fly our Australian flag for Australia Day. Be that strong Aussie our Anzacs died for. AND.... Don't buy into Globalism.
I would've loved to hear some jobs available in the Employment Section of the 1972 newspaper. Probably things like Wanted. Girl 15-20 years old for secretary work. Wording not permitted now but common 50+ years ago.
What a glorious old home you see these homes from the outside often wonder what they look like on the inside. Thanks to you Paul it becomes a reality more of these types of homes please even though there going to heaven still beautiful to see.❤while alive.
Man love ya Chanel & um a massive beliver in the spirit world & seen ALL your explorations. & I always keep my eyes open for spirits& I finally caught one. Yourstone Tudor 84 years home. If you punch that in & go to 23 min when you walk into the room you can CLEARLY see a reflection of someone on the door n it's not you n then at 23 min.30 there's a person behind the frosted glass windows n you again didn't see it. Check it out❤❤
Hi Lisa 🙂 I just watched it back and yes it is clear something is moving behind that window which is freaky! 😯 I kept watching and then when I was outside looking towards that window there is a canvas window awning moving in the breeze which may have been what it was? Glad you love the channel, many more videos to upload! Cheers for the support 😊👍
Another great video Paul. Do u know if the photo albums and orchid memorabilia was taken before the demolition? Seems such a shame to have treated like garbage when it was obviously a big part of the families history/life. On another note, I started watching u around the time u posted the video of u finding your cat. Can we have a cat update please? Thanks ❤
Seems like all the fireplaces had small openings. No, didn't notice any wall cracks. Love the big kitchen. 30:56 On the left of the fireplace that opening looks like the frig would be there. Didn't see a stove or oven.
Lovey old home, It was great to see this home mostly intact before the developers barge in and tear it all down. Another one bites the dust. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, MM :)
It's sad the well built homes with character are torn down and cookie cutter houses are put in their places, cheaper materials as well that won't last half as long. Love that porch.👍❤️🇺🇸
I know and hope someday our next generations will open their eyes. Realize how much was lost. These old incredible structures can NEVER be replaced. It totally breaks my heart 💔 to see this happen. I remember years and years ago they destroyed a old Opera/Theatre house in the old town I lived in. It should have been on the historic register. But instead they wanted to have a parking lot there. So disgraceful in my eyes. I know when I watch things like this happen I can’t help but shed many tears 😢😢😢. I’m grateful for all the work you do documenting these beautiful remarkable buildings. ThanQ so much for your time saving and sharing this with us. You are a remarkable person!

We have a 1912 Victrola so I know she'll love it. I've found some examples but none of the singer on yours. Who is it? Can anyone out there help me? Oh I also sometimes watch your videos with her while I smoke my evening pipe and they're very entertaining.

Glad you enjoyed it in the end Susan, yes it is hard to watch knowing their fate sometimes. A harsh reality. Cheers :-)
Very neat.. thanks for sharing.. have a blessed week
Thank you Chelongogan :-) You too! Thanks for watching
This is the best one ever.
Glad you think so Helen! I certainly loved it too! :-)
Hi Julz, glad you enjoyed this one! Cheers! :-)
Well said Ruby! :-) Cheers
Thanks for showing this stunner. If you can get into any double story yellow bricks that would be great! :)
What a stunning home!! Breaks my heart to know its going to be torn down. I truly help all those windows and fixtures were saved.
I would've loved to hear some jobs available in the Employment Section of the 1972 newspaper.
Probably things like Wanted. Girl 15-20 years old for secretary work. Wording not permitted now but common 50+ years ago.
Cheers Shez, I may do a follow up on that :-)
Excellent video, thank you so much!
How sad to destroy such a beautiful home. I didn't see any cracks or water damage. 😢
What a glorious old home you see these homes from the outside often wonder what they look like on the inside. Thanks to you Paul it becomes a reality more of these types of homes please even though there going to heaven still beautiful to see.❤while alive.
I LOVE thise houses! you have many listed, love them
WOW! This one really ripped my heart out! So beyond beautiful. So sad,and so much potential.
Thanks ❤
Hi Neets! :-) Yes been meaning to get the cat update done! I have 4 now! lol :-)
@@urbexindigo5164 they are easy to accumulate that’s for sure hence why i have 3 myself 😂 can’t wait for the update when u get the time ♥️
Seems like all the fireplaces had small openings.
Cheers again MM :-)
Hi QueenSnowBunny 😊 yes seeing the empty lot afterwards is always unsettling. Thanks for appreciating and admiring these old homes. Cheers 👍😊
Such a shame this house has now been demolished, done up It would have been a lovey family home.
Beautiful old house, too bad it’s going to be torn down.
A lot of these developers are overseas investors that certainly don't care about our heritage buildings
My wife adores your channel, and for our upcoming 40th anniversary (and being quite a quirky couple) I want to get her a 78 of "Finding the Long Way Home" like yours. We have a 1912 Victrola so I know she'll love it. I've found some examples but none of the singer on yours. Who is it? Can anyone out there help me?
Oh I also sometimes watch your videos with her while I smoke my evening pipe and they're very entertaining.
Hi Buck 👍😊 glad she loves the channel and what a great idea to get her the record! Here is the version I used although I slowed it down a bit for my intro 😁 cheers for the support 👍😁 ruclips.net/video/-YyQqU08SDI/видео.htmlsi=rpWs1mgl6949t1PM
@@urbexindigo5164 Thank you ever so much. My quest begins!
What a wonderful place, I love the art deco period , I do hope someone salvaged those beautiful lights , now looking for inspiration and ideas for redecorating my bedroom here in Great Yarmouth Norfolk UK... thinking art deco is the way to go, thank you so much for the fantastic video mate xxx
Hi Donna, my pleasure! Glad you love these old homes and art Deco. 😁👍😊 Cheers for watching 👍
