Hearing Alonso say “I fucking loved this film!” was a truly shocking moment. This will be the film I watch this weekend after The Bikeriders (Sorry, but my imaginary husband, Tom Hardy, always comes first).
Well, i hate to disagree completely - but i thought it was slow and paced horribly and couldn't wait for it too end. I don't know how they kept getting out of the situations, the way they did with the running "gas" joke was completely implausible. Its the kind of movie that thinks its funny and keeps laughing at its own jokes. I expected much better from this director, and the talent involved. So many plot holes and things that made zero sense, the motivation for why Damon's character was doing what he did has no foundation in reality. 4 / 10
That makes two Ving Rames with fire alarms with firemen suits breaking into buildings to steal stuff. But how many films use a drop of dollar bills to escape? I can't remember. But, it's better than the other half of Ocean's 11 - Foxes. Any movie that gives Ron Perlman a paycheck deserves your respect
Perfect review, and prime example why I love you both. Critics, at the end of the day, are human beings. Roger used to always say he had to be 100% honest with himself if he enjoyed a movie that he knew, intellectually, maybe is not very good. This incredibly fun review today reminds me of when Gene and Roger gave two thumbs up to stuff like Speed 2, and Under Siege 2, and when Roger and Joyce Kulhawik praised Deep Blue Sea. Roger's review of Gothika is another great example. This was so refreshing; thank you so much!
No more free Dunkin for Damon and Affleck until they get their act together! Glad you two enjoyed it, but as a Boston guy I thought it was a lazy greatest hits of much better crime comedies. Great review as always!
Glad this got the Christy geography stamp of approval. I just watched it, and I had a good time. I didn't know anything going in and never saw the trailer. I didn't even realize it was a comedy at first, but I soon caught on. The humor is very low key and dead pan. Doug Liman did a great job with the pacing because the are some slow moments but it never lagged for me. The way the whole Montreal thing resolved itself at the end was cute. Yes, in January, Montreal is quite cold and snowy. Don't go there without wearing boots. Forgot to add: Apple has not had much luck with theatrical releases recently, as the box office has been poor. So that's why they are pumping the brakes and going to streaming for most upcoming titles. They will still release a few movies in theaters though.
It's like renting a cabin in 1990 and finding a bargain bin DVD that the owner left behind because it obviously wasn't worth adding to their home collection. I couldn't be more disappointed in this film.
Wow, I was already a big fan of Breakfast All Day, and then Christy started unleashing her deep Boston knowledge. You always bring delightful surprises!
I may not have been quite as enthusistic as Alonso, but I totally enjoyed this one. Very funny and the cast were all terrific. Casey Affleck really won me over, consistently funny! Damon's almost always great and doesn't disappoint, and I loved Hong Chau. Doug Liman's direction was perfect. Nice to get a movie so good on Apple TV+
I am really glad this got positive reviews from you two because the trailer had me worried. Damon and Casey are 2 of my favorite actors. "The Informant" and "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" are 2 movies in my top 20 all time that never get the proper praise.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Only Doug Liman (along with his second unit director Simon Crane) can make an action comedy like this in 36 days. It’s a given for Affleck & Damon to have great chemistry. They’ve got a great back and forth especially with Hong Chau. The car chases are very well done and it’s clear they shot on location. Not every joke lands but it’s a good time. Liman also reunited with his “Road House” DP Henry Braham so you know visually it looks 🔥🔥🔥
I love Damon and Affleck, but the bad reviews have deterred me. Might have to check this out now. And I agree, I wish more non-franchise movies like this would be in theaters.
I was really enjoying this after about 30-40 minutes. Sad to report that I became increasingly uninvolved wit the multitude of walk on parts. To damn with faint praise, it's not terrible. I score lower than you so my 5 probably sits at 6 on your scale. Adore you both! Now it's "The Core" a little seen masterpiece from 2003 :)
Thanks a lot Alonso, now I have to watch Rififi again! I thought is started a bit slow, but 2nd & 3rd acts had me in stitches. Didn't realize it was on Apple TV, but glad I didn't or I wouldn't have gone to see it on the one screen it's on in town. I thought it was just because I'm in Tennessee.
I really enjoyed this film too, it's not only well cast but also well executed across all the departments and crafts. Solid quality film, the kind of fun entertaining movie adults used to pay to go see. It's a shame that it didn't have a theatrical release.
If only I didn’t dislike Casey’s vibe so much, just never like supporting movies with leads that I don’t think are good peeps, vibe just bother me so taints watching the whole movie for me so will pass but glad you two had a good time with
The accent of Tom Hanks in Catch Me if You Can is not near the top of your list for Worst Boston Accent? And it was totally unnecessary. No reason whatsoever to make the FBI man from there (or anywhere). Character isn't based on a real person. Etc. Of course, I can't restrain myself whenever anyone mentions that movie.
omg... the worst movie of the year and not funny whatsoever. filling the screen with solid actors with terrible script and lines does not a good movie make. unwatchable
How can these people say this movie was good and still try and claim any credibility - quite possibly the worst film of the year. Massively gaping hols in the plot.... bar blows up... no conceivable way out and bad surrounded by cops - cut to them then on a bus. Then Casey pours like a gallon of petrol in a pipe and manages to set the town hall on fire like 1,000 yards away - which is longer than said petrol would reach. It was utter garbage. Unfunny. Bad story. Whoever persuaded Damon to do this needs firing.
Who needs Google Maps, when you have Christy Lemire 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

You’ll have to report back!

It's a comedy, it doesn't have to be realistic.
@squatch545 sure, but it has to be entertaining. It fails
@@squatch545mans probably enjoyed " The Other Guys " & pineapple Express, but THIS movie has to be 100% realistic. That tracks.
Matt Damon and Hong Chau worked together in the movie Downsizing also. Love their chemistry...

really loved this movie. super underrated.
Glad you enjoyed it too!

Ha, thank you, did you not appreciate that the car chase was geographically accurate?
@@BreakfastAllDay Definitely got some extra points from me in that regard, I was pointing at the screen like Leo in Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood
Honestly I thought when Christy mentioned coffee and Dunkin Donuts i was expecting her to segue into a Coffee Bros ad. 😅
When was the last crime comedy you truly enjoyed tho ? I'm truly curious.

Wow, glad you guys dug it! Watched it last night and I was more mixed on it but it's my favorite of the two Doug Liman features this year.
Ha, better than Road House?
Yep, it's OG Road House or nothin' for me

We like both of those!
@jasoncarrick5461 yes two wayyy better movies, lol
It was good. The whole, “do you smell that?” Affleck bit was very funny.
Am a total movie fan and am so happy to find ur site! Well done 🙌🙌🙌
Great! So glad you’re here.

Lovely review!!
Movie was hella refreshing. They didnt even use jack Harlow much. Maybe a good thing.
Disclaimer: No lobsters were harmed in the making of this review 🍤 Can't say the same for skrimps

Avoid it, it's garbage

I was sooooooo looking forward to seeing this on the big screen. But I didn't see any screen times here in NYC for that one alleged week.
I thought this movie was pretty bad.
You guys just made me remember the SNL sketch with Casey Affleck in the Dunkin Donuts commercial LOL
Alonso and Christy, they're good eggs.
Aww thanks.

Ae you high? It was garbage.
Glad you had fun too!
Movie was really refreshing.
lol Christy, the geography guru
I was ten mins in and I paused the movie when your review came up on my notifications. Love you guys…. Did you guy’s review ‘Cuckoo’ yet?
Yup, on Tuesday: ruclips.net/video/YODAIcsmPY8/видео.htmlsi=GtgqCLKHtbae4Ngo
Really thought we were going into a coffee ad read with the Dunkin mention. Nice fakeout.
A missed opportunity 😂
Christy is a California gal & doesn't even try to say "wicked" like they do over there
Haha
If only I didn’t dislike Casey’s vibe so much, just never like supporting movies with leads that I don’t think are good peeps, vibe just bother me so taints watching the whole movie for me so will pass but glad you two had a good time with
I enjoyed it too. Snappy dialogue and laugh out loud moments
So glad you had fun, Aileen!
This movie was great. What a freaking breath of fresh air
So glad you had fun too!
That’s Awesome Review! Have an incredible new week! Cheers!🥂🤩❤️✨

Hanratty!
Wow, I need to see this now.
Love this review!!!
Thanks Kelly!
Love you two but I thought this movie was a dull mess. A bit shocked this was compared to Go.
Oh no, sorry you didn't enjoy it!
Must see !!! Absolutely 💯 love this movie 🍿 Awesome 🔥🔥

Yikes, I’d heard horrid things, but now need to watch. Thanks team.
Let us know!
So Casey Affleck is forgiven ?
I need a Kneecap review please and thank you
Next week!
It was Meh. 5/10

It's a dumb action movie, not a science class lol 😉
