Wow! It looks amazing and pretty accurate to the ACL! Danny Harmon will be very pleased to see this coming down to Florida and hope to see SCL, New York Central, RF&P, WMRY, and others from the heritage in the future. It makes a total of 7 heritage units Chessie System, Seaboard System, Baltimore & Ohio, Chesapeake & Ohio, Louisville and Nashville, Conrail, and lastly the newest to join is the Atlantic Coast Line.
Love the look of this unit, definitely my favorite heritage unit so far! I know a lot of people don’t like the CSX front with the heritage on the long hood, but I really enjoy it. It’s a very unique look, makes the CSX heritage units stand out.
Yeah they can paint a SD40-2 in a heritage scheme. But if they do, the engine is most likely never gonna come out the yard since CSX put there standard cab locomotives to switching. Unless they make them lead trains again then yeah
@@YouSmellLikeFartALT_CSX8786 you also have to remember, on some CSX freight trains, you can find a standard cab trailing behind a wide cab. I’ve seen trains where it’s a GEVO leading then a whole bunch of trailing EMDs of different types.
FGAR also has some pretty American flag trains that come into CSX Goulding Yard occasionally . I love watching the different engineers rack and stack loads. Some real good about handling slack noise even on the longest pulls. Many take up slack so hard it clacks down the line like domino thunder. Good engineers can whip that slack in & out real quiet .
@@orbitsrailfanvids Monon is 1847, or well atleast thats when the simple name of the Chicago, Indianapolis & Louisville started being used. Also from what I heard it was 1902 being repainted first, oh whatever ill be excited for either one.
The original ACL purple has a lot more red in it than what's used on the heritage unit. Still nice to see a callback to the old ACL. I rode their passenger trains and SCL's numerous times in the days before Amtrak.
Wish they would’ve just reversed the fade, made the front of it the heritage scheme and made it the majority, then fade it into CSX scheme at the back, motto could’ve been “letting the past pull us forward”. Just missed potential, but they at least attempted to make something new which they do deserve credit for. I’m not a big fan of this one, the colors just don’t mix very well. I do like the amount of history that was in this video though, so thank you for that, as it’s pretty interesting.
CSX would you please consider painting the front of the Heritage Units. They would look so much better, and it is a real missed opportunity. I'm not saying that the new heritage units are bad. . . and it is a good attempt but I feal it is a missed opportunity.
@@MystiCmeshtoolCSX will probably use the infamous Clinchfield “Coal” Black paint scheme. The reason is because as much as the grey would look good with the yellow striping, it would make the unit look almost identical to the L&N and Seaboard System units. Personally I hope 1902 will have the iconic yellow number-boards on the “CSX” cab end, and the iconic yellow wasp striping on the rear pilot. The yellow number-boards probably won’t happen, but the wasp striping on the rear pilot is going to happen for sure, because a Clinchfield heritage unit without yellow wasp striping isn’t a official Clinchfield unit.
