I'm tired of people claiming the Wii U failed because of the name. The Wii U failed due to a weak launch line up and poor advertising; it wasn't clear the Wii U was a new console entirely and not solely a peripheral/add-on.
The name didn’t help. Names are extremely important. They just didn’t find its place with the mainstream. I enjoyed it a lot, but it was very generic with its lineup for much of the time.
I think we got to keep our hopes in check when it comes to 4k. If a PS5 struggles with 4k 60, why should we expect a handheld with less power at a cheaper price to do better? Unless the dock can give extra power I'm not getting my hopes up. While 4k 60 would be nice Nintendo has never really cared about having the highest framerate possible and honestly I would be fine with 1080 or 1440 60. I do hope we at least have an option for better performance but lower resolution though.
I suspect that extra button will be dedicated to dual-screen applications/options. It will likely give developers and users option to cast a signal to a local screen while there is also game content on the Switch2 screen.
Saying 4k 30 is rediculous it’s 4k 30 60 and vrr there is no universe we’re being 4k means 30 fps complete nonsense the switch 2 will support 30 60 40 120 max modes thus the 4k is 30 is made up nonsense
i doubt switch 2 will support 120hz. its unnecessary. anything over 4k is unnecessary for the switch, 1080p/60 will be perfectly fine. 1440p would be nice but id take good framerate over high resolution as it matters WAY MORE
Yeah, the only reason it would be 4k/30 docked is if they use a really old HDMI port, which doesn't make sense cause they have a port capable of 4k60 in the OLED dock
honestly i dont give a fuck about 4k. 1080p/60 and 1440p/30 on all games would be perfect, with NVidia frame generation technology that should be easy for the switch 2 as its a big leap in power from the original switch which was underpowered for even 2017
The switch to stock is opened so that you can dock and still play on the handheld system. The new c button is a cast button. The switch to has wireless HDMI
A 4K Nintendo console is way overdue. I didn’t buy a Switch until the OLED model released in 2021, because I was disappointed with how underpowered it is. I was waiting and hoping for a more powerful version, like a “Switch Pro”. After it became clear that we would not get that, I decided to settle for the OLED model. The 30 FPS is not a big problem for me, although I would rather have the Switch 2 be a 60 FPS console. But stunning visuals are one of my favorite things about modern video games, which is why I prefer high resolution over high frame rate. It would be nice to have both though.
To just say "4k30fps" is really weird, as if the console will cap games at 30fps? I highly doubt that. Sure, some games might be 30fps, but I definitely think a lot of games will be 60fps as well. Just as with any console, it will depend on the game and not the console ifself. I mean even on the current Switch there are a lot of games running at 60fps.
I don't care how good this next console gen will be, old Nintendo from 20 years ago would have never skipped an entire console gen for a game like Mario kart. No it's not, all my TVs are 4k and I'm sure that's the case with alot of folks in the United States at least. I'm not really a fan of being able to count the pixels when my console is hooked up to my tv.
