You're a good man, Dustin. That was what always got me about what my mom told me about things in life in general... "Never have blind faith in anything" even though she's a devout Christian. I am not.
As someone raised with Santa, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy... and Catholicism, teaching kids about deception through lying about the existence of Santa is quite smart. Blind faith can be very dangerous. I still battle with the concepts I was raised with. Trying to overcome the fear instilled in me of a creator who loves me.. But wants me to follow his rules or be sent to an eternity of unbearable torture and anguish at the hands of beings he created lol
I won't lie. I tell kids to ask their parents... I was born with autism & when I found out christmas was a lie my family continued to force the belief on me & lie to me even after I knew they were lies. Nobody's 100% honest & no matter who it is; trust is always a gamble.
Yeah · I feel AWFUL about lying to my kids about Santa, & accidentally lying that there was a god. I think i ought to have taught them i can be relied upon to not lie instead, & i wish i could undo the stupidity of telling them there was a god · I simply didnt know HOW to critically think. Now that i do however? I really wish i wouldnt have told them the god bs for sure. And i regret lying about Santa cos it made them sooo sad when i told them the truth. I didn't figure out Santa on my own cos Autism made me think everyone meant what they said. I regret the lie immensely, but thats no judgement on ANYONE · JUST my Own Opinion, feelings, & experience. @adiohead same · I regret lying about Santa, & even moreso? I deeply regret indoctrinating them to believe in a god. Im SO grateful the internet taught me far more than my own indoctrinated & deeply traumatic childhood.❤❤

I like the idea, but I think it's best to be honest from the start. Tell them that Santa is fake, and also tell them that religion is fiction.
