Amazing the size of this hotel, imagine back when it was a thriving hotel. @8:50 I had to laugh Steve that's not a "Huntsman spider" come to Australia then you will see the size of the huntsman spiders here in Australia, google them all, they are the size of a man's hand and bigger. Please consider getting a respirator that is effective. That mold goes right through the type of mask that you are wearing. You can get them at any hardware store.
The "spider scorpion" you have found is a vinegaroon, also known as whip scorpion. They are somewhat common in tropical Asia, but also south of Japan, where the island is located. The kind on Hachijo is called Amami Whip Scorpion. Meanwhile, you were right that the plants along the path were pink, but they were nothing like you have found on the phone. It isn't azalea.
That hotel would have been rockin and rollin in it's day, lots going on. Now it's trashed and in a sorry ole state. The Island in the background was interesting the way it was just jutting out like a shark. Great explore, of a hotel telling it's story of a bygone era, thank you Steve

See if you can find a brochure of the hotel's floor layout...early morning bring Raid for that weird INSECT! Do not forget to explore the Japanese Sculpture Park of the 800 life like statues. Ronin you would be the first! Be careful of the LARGE SPIDERS🕷🕷🕷🕷🕷🕷

Nope, nothing. The island is too far from the place where the earthquake was and got only moderate tsunami, which caused no destruction at all.
Remember Hachioji? That royal hotel close to this hotel? Wasn’t there a typhoon on this island because both hotels have high dameges

In the mid too late summer up here in the Cariboo, of B.C Canada we have spyders that we call POPCORN spyders they have a body about the size of your thumb nail an inch all the way around with legs about an inch and a half long. I get 1 or 2 every year. I guess its like the story of Charlettes Web
