This song helps me face my life. I listen to it while watching the sunrise as I drive to my soul crushing job. It reminds me what's important. Every day is another chance at life. It might break you. You might break it. But you will face it if you can find the impetus of this simple punk tune.
my favorite band. I met the group in my teens when I heard the band's sound on a cassette tape. And to this day I remember the day I took a Husker Dü album, put it on the stereo and started listening to each track by track, melodies, distortions and Bob Mold's voice singing the lyrics of the record.
I grew up in MPLS and saw these guys a bunch of times. They used to play 1rst Ave and 7Th St. Entry pretty regularilly. Husker Du at the Entry was one of my first punk shows and I saw them open for The Dead Kennedys at The MPLS Armory. It was always a great energetic show. This brings back so many memories! Thanks for sharing!
Hi, Roadrunner, I grew up in Midway, Saint Paul. I saw the same line-up, but I remember it being at Coffman Union at the U of M. A band called Ground Zero also played. This would have been in 1981, when I was 12. Needless to say, I was scared by these truly scary, at that time, punks. Jello had to stop the show 2 times for injuries. I believe an ambulance was called. Both Husker Du and the DKs were awesome and loud.
@@charliecrash3450 I think they were invited. Probably not SNL, but some other high profile night host. They got exposure big time. Such a shame they couldn’t keep it up…
@@mraaronhd Yes, I guess so. This was in London and pogoing still went on then but slam dancing was around and was renamed moshing later. Whatever the dance is, I seriously wish I had been there. I think I'll have this played at my funeral!!
@@aaarrrggghhhh same. I wish I could have been there to experience the scene whenever everything felt new and fresh, and innovations were still happening.
Alternatively - they specifically wrote a song to open their show with that would right from the get go knock their audience on their ass with pure kinesthetic vitality and demonstrate that the Huskers were going to be a force to be taken seriously that night. I think the one goal is intensity and ferocity - any other meaning not relevant.
Amazing how three words screamed over and over can give so much hope.
That's all it needs. Have a great day.
One of the most exhilarating songs ever written.

I would never share this tune as nobody would understand how brilliant it is.

it is a new day rising 🌅 indeed.
Probably a good choice for my funeral.... Endless energy
OMG! I can barely keep myself from slamming around the office when I watch this!
Here's the lyrics:
New day rising
New day rising
New day rising
New day rising...
That's all it needs. Doesn't get any better than that.
Well, there is a live footage, The Patio - Indianapolis, where can be clearly heard additional "Just like the other day" verse.
And that, folks, is how to ROCK 🤩
Saw them three times on this tour
Wish I'd seen them in their heyday 😭!!!
C.P Company Did you meet bassist Dave Barbe? Great guy. Our old bands did lots of shows together way back when
Mind blowing phenomenal
RIP Grant Hart...sigh.
Keith Paul such a great loss. May he Rest In Peace 🙏!!!
Only Husker Du will hit the spot for me.
This is the most badass song I've ever heard.

saw greg do this song with Ultrabomb in May. Twice!!
Saw them in 86 at Irving Plaza NYC with Soul Asylum warming up. A life-changing experience.
What a special treat! Butthole Surfers, Black Flag, Minutemen...I miss 1986 🥲
The replacements to
The minutemen were not around in 86. D. Boon died in 85 😥😥
If only time machines were a real thing. It'd be so fun to go back and witness this concert at the time.
Best band I ever saw live. Manchester International (2)? 1987 I think. Bonkers gig
International 1. Me and my mates met Greg outside and chatted to him for a good while. And now it's a supermarket !
After this Corona shit is over!!!
at the end, one of the few moments where grant actually uses the hi hat lol RIP GRANT HART
all the gear in this gig was rented. maybe for this reason
Saw Yo La Tengo cover this at 12:00 AM New Year's Eve, 199?. Brilliant.
Holy shit that sounds so awesome

Was Husker Du ever invited to play on SNL back in the day, like The Replacements?

They played on the Joan Rivers show
So fkin killer,,,,!!,!,!,!,!,!,!,!,!,!,!,!
Carl Schiefer Hüsker Dü were the real deal!!!
Interesting to see how the crowd is really only pogoing instead of moshing. I guess it hadn’t crossed over at that point?
'Slam dancing' came before 'moshing'. This was pre-slam dancing.
@@aaarrrggghhhh so technically pogoing then? Because I think I read something that Johnny Rotten was the one who encouraged the crowds to do it
