Very helpful - and timely - information. Being relatively new at rooting figs it was a big help. Especially since most of us are at that later rooting stage right about now. Thanks for sharing.
I ran into a similar problem in 2021. My trees became too big before I could sell or trade. They also became too much work and made going on vacation a pain. I was lucky to get help from my son while I was away. When trees get too big in 4’x9” tree pots, they require moisture more frequently and they could die in a one week period. I started trees in February this year and I’m really happy I waited.
Yes I joke that I am a slave to my young fig trees. After I relocate I want to try to get a system setup that will water the cuttings automatically. I imaging that I’ll lose more of them but it will be much less work
Hi there. Thanks much for the valuable educational video. I started the rooting process on 01/20/22. About half of my cuttings are growing leaves and figs. I lost only one cutting to root rot thus far. Getting the watering part right has been irking me. How many days is it safe to go between watering at this point? Some of my pots are 350-400 g after 1 week of watering with 20 cc per pot using Turkey baster. I am being asked to wait another week but I think this is stretching it too much. Apart from the weight method, is there an fail safe method to gauge hydration status at this stage? Thanks!
I think weight is the best way. If the leaves are droopy that is another way to tell, but I think that is too risky with a young plant. I’m not sure of a better way
Good job, grandson Peter. Godspeed in your new adventure🙏❤️

It was helpful.
Thanks.
Hey Pete I’m curious as to what type of grow lights you use? Can you post a link?
I got mine from activegrowled.com, although there are a lot of good companies out there

When do you start adding the miracle grow fertilizer? At first or after leaves start?
I use it from the start. At first the cuttings won’t need much water but if nice they develop roots and leaves they will use a lot more
What is your success rate with your method? Thanks
About 80% but I root a lot of stuff that i wouldn’t send to others so that lowers it a bit
How old are these cuttings?
I began rooting in mid-to-late Dec
