I had the immense pleasure of meeting Ovidiu in an international competition (which he eventually won!!) in Reims, France around 1989.Great player, great person. What fire in his playing! I was also shock to hear about his death. RIP Ovidiu, much love and respect.
+ritzy12345 As far as I know, he was expected to have a performance - or take part in a competition - in Triest on Wednesday, 3/21 2001. As he didn't appear, they looked for him and found him dead in his hotel room, having died from a heart attack.
Thank you very much for this video.
O.Badila was a brilliant soloist, one of the greatest ever!
He was without any doubt the Paganini of the double bass. Thanks for this rare and valuable document.

Finally, an answer to the question "what would happen if you gave a young Jay Leno a double bass and a bucket full of cocaine?"
What you say is not respectful at all!
I scrolled through ALL the comments to find some who saw the resemblance between Leno and Badila. Maybe Leno has a secret twin brother?
minuto 9:29 French Horn y Clarinet ?
This reminds me of the movie tenacious d.
His facial expressions....Jesus Christ he has some pent up anger
Grazie...e basta!
Does anybody know how he died?
