Hello sir, good work. We have salt water bore from 10 to 20 feet bore. What should we do? Does harvesting helps to get normal water instead of saline water? Which method suits us best in coastal region ? 40 km away from sea.
Rainwater harvesting improves water quality in one or two seasons normally. We have such hundreds of instances in Chitradurga of Karnataka and Telangana states. But I doubt the same logic works in coastal region. Because the volume of water by rainwater harvesting is too less compared to water seepage from the sea. Will the farmers now maintain their ponds and tanks removing silt as it collects, maybe yearly so that in 20 - 30 years they don't have to do this again? The silt would help keep the fertility at a stable point so they wouldn't have a reduction after a few years. Preventing the problem from reoccurring would be easier and much less expensive.
They showed silt catching pits . These will be a bit larger deeper pits at different places in the water flow channels created to fill the wells and ponds
I'm from "Bihar" my village is also suffering dryness and there is not sufficient water reserver for irregation. What should we do to make water reserver or whom should we contact??
Grow fruit trees like ,Peru,chikoo, papaya dadim, banana ,sitafal, on the vacant space in the village. And trees like jamun, fig, fanas, tamarind, pimple , bitter neem badaam on the outskirts of the village. This will increase greenary, lower temperature, bring good rain and fruits will be available for villagers to eat and sale in open market. This will also raise their income. And they will not be in the situation to commit suicide.
The successful project should be able to convince the villagers for a forestation in their area ensuring for better environmental conditions for rains too.
WHAT is signigicant is Prosopis juliflora shrubs every where in this video, which has to be uprooted bcoz the root can reach 100 feet and dry up water level soon.
It has ability to suck out moisture from air too.. air becomes dry ..causes soil to dry...which causes dried leaves and roots to loose its nature because nano organisms die... Which means death of organism's that depends on these.. which means soil become loose....which means moisture at deeper depth too gets exposed and get dry ...it all happens much sooner once the upper layer looses its eco processes

You can plant trees before or after earthworks or construct it can give further strategic options, in many cases it can help to plant out trees to serve more functions. A permaculture designer dose there best to incorporate as many functions per feature.
